Peace Signs

I have a thing for peace signs and I love wearing them, be it a t-shirt, a scarf or a pair of earrings...they are always "in" with me. I made this pair last night using Bubby & McGurk head pins, Czech glass and Magnesite beads. The Irish waxed linen cord is from Ornamentea.

Here's a casual outfit that would look great with my earrings....

Red and Purple...

go together?  I didn't use to think so, but I changed my mind!

I have had this gorgeous set of beads by Sue Kennedy of SueBeads for a while and they are some of my all time favorites of hers!  The fuschia-ish purple frit she used just pops!!  I enameled bead caps in coordinating colors and topped off the beads like little hats.  Faceted Czech glass beads dangle jauntily below.

Looks like a lot of people think red and purple are great together...I searched for 'red and purple' on Pinterest.com and got loads of fun inspiration!

Safari Stars + Lorelei's Michaels Challenge

Today is the day for Miss Lorelei's latest Michaels Challenge. Below you will see the beads that I had to work with for the challenge. The color palette is unexpected and I think that the fresh green gives a whole new life to these beads.

I did make a few substitutions to the beads that she chose, but it keeps with the same palette. I made these Safari Stars earrings with these great saucer shaped beads tipped on their sides to reveal the cool star shaped pattern.
[Safari Stars]

I think they would look great with this Anthropologie dress called Afternoon Safari. It looks like a breezy outfit fit for the Serengheti for sure. Or a trip to Tar-zhay for some toilet paper and a 1" binder. Whatever.

Be sure to hop on over to Lorelei's blog for the rest of the Michaels challenge participants.

Black Lava

Beautiful Black Lava Headpins by GeneaBeads inspired these earrings.
I built the Polymer Clay Burlap Squares and added the Patina Gilders paste to mirror the colors of the headpins that dangle below.

I just recently received my first order of Gilders Paste and I think I'm in love.
You'll be seeing a lot more of it in the future.

I typically string the headpins through the beads so they are as one unit
but I really thought these should dangle!

Galadriel's Phial

I bought this strand of pineapple quartz points at a local bead shop several years ago, and was entranced! In lower light, you notice largely the glassy pale yellow (very nice), but when the sun hits it--Shazaam! It glows with aqua swirls like Galadriel's phial, that she gave to Frodo to light his way (just color me geek). I combined them with copper antiqued to a rich chestnut, and dotted the earwires with aqua chalcedony, which matched the swirls in the quartz nicely (and color me matchy matchy).

Of course, what else could you wear with them but this? I think I have something like this lying around.

I have more of these points, I think next I will do a pair in sterling!

Pop of Yellow

Yellow is one of my favorite colors for the Fall season! Temps here in upstate NY have been slowly decreasing, and I have Autumn fever for sure. It's one of my favorite seasons mostly because that's when the outfits change. I pull out the light sweaters, and enjoy wearing jeans. Denim and Yellow is a hot combination and I pulled some images of inspiration off of Pinterest to go with my Pop of Yellow earrings this week.

You can find these and other earrings in my Etsy store!

Orange Julius

Years ago, one of my favorite treats when I went to a shopping mall was an Orange Julius. My other favorite was frozen yogurt, but I haven't made those earrings yet. :) These gorgeous orange polymer clay donuts (I must be hungry because I'm starting to see a theme here) were made by Kristi Bowman. I have added a cascade of brightly colored ceramic and glass with little bits of copper in this whimsical design.

Boho Essence

Since the price of silver has gone down a bit recently, I ordered more PMC3. I used to do a lot with it but haven't in probably over a year. I made the teardrops out of the precious metal clay and then after the firing, I hammered and used liver of sulphur on them. I love turquoise and silver together so I paired them using waxed linen cording. These earrings are available to purchase here.

This girl would wear these earrings and I love that look!

I decided to make a small petite pair as well.

Sunshine Drops

In my last post, I was talking about how ready for Autumn I was, and today, wishy-washy girl/woman that I am, I am loving the sunshine!  Maybe because it was a bit cooler over the past few days here in my neck of the woods, but I actually enjoyed being out in the sunshine instead of dreading the hot, sticky, drippy feeling that being outdoors in sweltering heat can cause!

I made these the other day for a last minute addition to a craft show, which unfortunately bombed, but the earrings are sweet nonetheless!  Gorgeous sunny orange/yellow lampwork beads by Mermaid Glass, wrapped with copper and embellished with tangerine orange Czech glass flowers!

I'm definitely going to need better photos...the bottom one is the truer yellow shade of the lampwork! The top ones wouldn't stop moving, so they are a tad blurry!

Beautiful, simple drops of sunshine to keep your days bright, no matter what season or weather!

Daisy Doodads

I was just messing around with these wonky little spacer beads that I have on my table and they jumped onto these jump rings (get it?) and proceeded to hook up! I call these Daisy Doodads because to me they look like the petals of a daisy. I think these would be fun with mixed metals and rings of bright colors as well. I might just have to experiment with that.

They are what I call "Go-To's"... you know... the sort of earring wear-with-everything jewelry that is your Go-To when you can't find anything else to wear, or no matter what you wear. Dress it up, dress it down. It still works. Yeah. These fit the bill.

Today I would pair it with this top

{Essential Scoop-Neck Tunic - Garnet Hill}

this skirt

{A-Line Lace Skitr - Garnet Hill}

and these shoes.

Tomorrow... who knows?

Sea Urchin Wheels

These new Turquoise Urchin Discs have been sitting on my work table for a couple of weeks,
I knew I wanted to make my next Earrings Everyday earrings with them
but of course I waited until the last minute!

I've had an idea what I wanted to do and they turned out pretty much right on!

These are the new Wonky Discs I've been making from Polymer Clay, I also made the wood textured discs above them using Ivory.
I love the wood texture, I made lots of different shapes and sizes you'll see soon in my Etsy shop.

I added a little bit of sparkle on top with the beautiful Icy Blue Lampwork Spacers by That Bead Girl!

They may be big and bold but because they are Polymer Clay they are quite light!

These earrings are available to purchase

Raspberry Lemonade

These little enameled pale lemon-lime keyholes from Gardanne Beads have delicious berry sprinkles in them--I immediately thought of moukaite for them! (They make me think of raspberry lemonade). These tasty little ovals are from Lima Beads, and I happily found some lampwork glass spacers in my stash in pale apple from The Spacer Bead Shop. I just love these colors together!

I would pair them with this fabulous split skirt:

Frida Earrings

In these colorful primitive copper earrings, I use a verdigris patina and then added a blue patina around the border. The red jasper makes a wonderful contrast to the cool colors.

It was only a matter of time before I made a pair of earrings in honor of Frida Kahlo. Frida surrounded herself with vivid colors, animals, and a lush garden full of birds that inspired her, and later her students. Her imagination was fertile with images that were authentic and primitive as they made their way to her canvasses in paint. To me, those images are exhilarating, haunting and unforgettable. More about Frida.
