<a href="https://www.etsy.com/shop/Gaelys" target="_blank"><span style="color: #ffa400;"><b>Anne Gael</b> </span></a>that I had completely forgotten about. I just love the colors and how the daisies ⚘⚘ cover the monkey🐵 faces – they make me laugh every time I look at them!</span></p><p class="MsoNormal"><span style="font-family: verdana; font-size: medium;">I wanted to keep these earrings as lightweight as possible,
and as I went through my bead stash, I just wasn’t having that <i>“aha” moment</i>.
And then I remembered these fun, hand-formed polymer clay flowers I made a few
years ago…just maybe they would work. Since the flowers are really meant to hang horizontal (what was I
thinking?), it took some engineering to attach them so they would be visible
from the front.</span></p><p class="MsoNormal"></p><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEguzEBO1FH-Ln3Rlt23Od4SntCWTLwI_cjjo8l0M6aAyCKaZzVAlMaiIFhfeQAwk5V-o1Lgo1v3NEXLetc2uElycsAnEoSlUbzdPf-9kwx7KXM5x9P3dBK0rpdztUosXjj9vp_KbUjbAk0/s640/IMG_6966.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="640" data-original-width="640" height="320" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEguzEBO1FH-Ln3Rlt23Od4SntCWTLwI_cjjo8l0M6aAyCKaZzVAlMaiIFhfeQAwk5V-o1Lgo1v3NEXLetc2uElycsAnEoSlUbzdPf-9kwx7KXM5x9P3dBK0rpdztUosXjj9vp_KbUjbAk0/s320/IMG_6966.jpg" /></a></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><br /></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;"><span style="font-family: verdana; font-size: medium;">By keeping the second “arm” of my wrapped loop long, I was able to feed it through the center of the flower and attach it to the wire above and behind it before snipping it off. Then I just worked the first “arm” as usual – walla! To keep a carefree and whimsical vibe to the design, I added a collection of copper seed beads and Czech glass on waxed linen cording to hang from beneath the flowers – super cute and <i>fresh as a daisy</i>!</span></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><br /></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"> <div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgRT6VknVp5QeKsmtnga48bEemzorKCZHdh3_ph38NR2zBVIliLqoZ0juBgRBL82Do7BGfd7zgL41k2jsBq3nH9beZcVpj-R3tXijEwVHcvla6aLIlqKmHNOAagRAXKPLKPEOc9_SIzWE8/s640/IMG_6967.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="640" data-original-width="640" height="320" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgRT6VknVp5QeKsmtnga48bEemzorKCZHdh3_ph38NR2zBVIliLqoZ0juBgRBL82Do7BGfd7zgL41k2jsBq3nH9beZcVpj-R3tXijEwVHcvla6aLIlqKmHNOAagRAXKPLKPEOc9_SIzWE8/s320/IMG_6967.jpg" /></a></div></div><br /><p></p>

chirping birds, budding blossoms and new life! And hopefully, it’s time for at
least a bit of a return to some of the things we’ve all missed over the past 12
months. I don’t have much of a <span style="color: #04ff00;">green thumb</span> so there aren’t many budding
blossoms in my yard. And the branches on our tall oak trees begin far too high
to hear birds chirping in them very often. However, one sign of spring that we do see
in the yard pretty regularly are the 🐸<span style="color: #6aa84f;">frogs and toads</span>🐸 that emerge and begin to spawn

what better time to create a froggy design than the onset of Spring? Initially
I was going to play up the sunflower🌻 idea and add bright yellow lampwork. But
while I was looking for just the right beads, I stumbled on these chunky black

than ready for <span style="color: #6aa84f;"><b>Spring</b></span>! In deciding what to feature in today’s post, I thought I
would start with one of the pairs of colorful copper enamel charms that I’ve
been making for an upcoming components show. Although Spring means pretty
flowers, puppies, bunnies, and chicks, I wanted to do something just a bit
different while still keeping with my theme. I thought of my daughter’s HUGE
rubber duck collection and found that to be the perfect inspiration!</span></p>
<p class="MsoNormal"><span style="font-family: verdana; font-size: medium;">I started with these unique, copper enameled black rubber
duckies, covered in brightly colored <b><span style="color: red;">P</span><span style="color: #6fa8dc;">O</span><span style="color: #c27ba0;">L</span><span style="color: #ffa400;">K</span><span style="color: #6aa84f;">A</span><span style="color: red;"> </span></b><span style="color: red; font-weight: bold;">D</span><span style="color: #6fa8dc; font-weight: bold;">O</span><span style="color: #c27ba0; font-weight: bold;">T</span><span style="color: #ffa400;"><b>S </b></span>(LOVE me some polka dots). The
next step was to go through my ever-growing bead stash to decide which of the
polka dot colors to choose for the matching beads. I was leaning toward a pair
of bright orange hollow beads over a pair of sparkly lime green donut beads, when
I spotted another pair on my bead table that I knew would be the winner- a totally
fun pair from <b><span style="color: #93c47d;"><a href="https://www.facebook.com/profile.php?id=100011563290128" target="_blank">Petra Marikova</a></span></b> – a black base, completely covered in tiny
colorful bumps – like falling in a bucket of candy sprinkles!</span></p>
<p class="MsoNormal"><span style="font-family: verdana; font-size: medium;">The only thing left to do was add a few colorful wavy
spacers, some Vintaj black metal caps, copper caps, and a pair of fancy copper
ear wires…WAY TOO FUN! What do you think? Too many polka dots? (said no one,
EVER!)</span><o:p></o:p></p>

and continue to design at least a few earring pairs with <i>my own</i> enamels. Just
like the last pair of earrings I shared, these enamels were designed for a recent
bird-themed show. Although I typically go for <i>matchy-matchy</i> designs, I do like
to mix things up every so often, and these similar-but-different hummingbirds were
just begging to be paired together. I was instantly attracted to the soft print and <span style="color: #d5a6bd;">p</span><span style="color: #9fc5e8;">a</span><span style="color: #d5a6bd;">s</span><span style="color: #9fc5e8;">t</span><span style="color: #d5a6bd;">e</span><span style="color: #9fc5e8;">l</span> colors,
and the copper blanks somehow reminded me of the gilded bird cages I saw hanging
all over the souks in the Marrakech medina a few years back on a family
vacation.</span></p>
<p class="MsoNormal"><span style="font-family: verdana; font-size: medium;">Knowing I wanted to give the finished earrings a romantic
but subtle vibe, I embossed the copper before adding the powdered glass enamel base
coats and kept the oxidation intact after applying the iron oxides. Now that
the charms were done, the design of the earrings remained.</span></p><p class="MsoNormal"><span style="font-family: verdana; font-size: medium;">I remembered coming
across some fancy copper connectors from <a href="https://www.facebook.com/joan.langmo" target="_blank"><b><span style="color: #a64d79;">Joan Langmo</span></b></a> recently while rummaging through
my boxes of treasured components and <b>hoped</b><i> I could remember where I saw them</i>
(if you only saw my “organization”, you would understand why I said I <i>hoped</i>)!
I hit the jackpot when I found not only the connectors I was looking for, but
also some lovely flat copper flower stampings that I had completely forgotten
about. It took just a bit of finagling to get all the pieces to play nicely together
(do you ever feel that <i>engineering</i> is the most challenging part of designing?
I know I do quite often!) by adding dainty <span style="color: #d5a6bd;">Czech glass flowers</span> on top of the
copper stampings. Next, I added the hollow lampwork from <a href="https://www.facebook.com/awhitedesigns" target="_blank"><b><span style="color: #a64d79;">Alisha White</span></b></a>,
sandwiched between pretty copper caps, at the top – just the thing to add a bit
of <span style="color: #d5a6bd;">color</span> without distracting from the hummingbird enamels. The last step was to
add the dangling <span style="color: #9fc5e8;">Czech flowers</span> on each side of the connectors to balance the earrings and tie
everything together.</span></p>

I don’t tend to design earrings with my own enamels. But being a brand new year
in the midst of a </span><b style="color: #0b5394; font-family: verdana;">very</b><span style="color: #0b5394; font-family: verdana;"> strange season, I decided it was time to mix things up a
bit and change all that…</span><b style="color: #0b5394; font-family: verdana;">at least for today</b><span style="color: #0b5394; font-family: verdana;">!</span></p>
<p class="MsoNormal"><span style="color: #0b5394; font-family: verdana;">I recently designed a <b>flurry</b> of <i>bird enamels</i> (or maybe that
should be a <b>flock</b>?) for a themed show and tried my hand at some enamels that
were more like portraits than my typical outlined “cartoon” style pieces. Much to
my surprise, the process of making small translucent strokes, firing, adding
another layer of strokes, firing (repeat ad infinitum), was somehow mesmerizing.
However, having no painting background, my poor birds, although changing appearance
with each layer, were not looking at all like what I had intended after even
after a half dozen firings! Perhaps they were better kept for my own designs, where
I could take my time figuring out how to bring them to life. Which brings me
(<b>finally</b>!) to today’s earrings…</span></p><p class="MsoNormal"><span style="color: #0b5394; font-family: verdana;"><o:p></o:p></span></p>
<p class="MsoNormal"><span style="color: #0b5394; font-family: verdana;">Here’s how my birds started their journey after cutting
copper sheet and laying down the first base coats (the poor things would have a
quite a journey of color ahead of them before they <i>left the nest</i>):</span></p><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEji87Fo1XznwnmCu4QH-vdF3pfvBZBTb9jQSW9DXBN2ovkkheTm2g6VFo54WOgDWO0uLvC0gd5XbOpA_pTVkQ4LKsSe790fM6sJAwQ3N2KDuuPWTStkUIL1ioC8Ka0qD3ruQJMSv0bjQFs/s640/IMG_4544.jpg" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="640" data-original-width="640" height="320" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEji87Fo1XznwnmCu4QH-vdF3pfvBZBTb9jQSW9DXBN2ovkkheTm2g6VFo54WOgDWO0uLvC0gd5XbOpA_pTVkQ4LKsSe790fM6sJAwQ3N2KDuuPWTStkUIL1ioC8Ka0qD3ruQJMSv0bjQFs/s320/IMG_4544.jpg" /></a></div><p class="MsoNormal"><o:p> </o:p></p><p class="MsoNormal"><span style="font-family: verdana;"><span style="color: #0b5394;">If you are familiar with my earrings, you know that I don’t

beads that would complement the birds without distracting from them (after all,

leather flowers (how cool is that?) to keep in line with a more rustic vibe, rich
amber-hued Czech glass flowers and rings, and an assortment of brass caps. I
really like how these turned out, but I also am aware of just how much I have to
learn (I would greatly appreciate any painting tips you might have)! Here in the United States we don't have wild hedgehogs, although some people keep them as pets. One summer, many years ago, we took a vacation with my husband's family, at a resort in Ronshausen. And that's where I first saw these cute little critters. I've been a fan ever since!</p><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjBAmjKBmkdWXuuaVNnfV43NBTNLvA6UyGz1h8RUzGQlKH-UeaaXsZs2le85wATMQjnDeLGceW04Ibe3QqVm2nmf0YpfCJTuBONL8l1t_cWtO3XDNUJd_ORLjTViKQ6K_MQYz44HkQFcxhm/s2048/Hedgehogs+5.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="2048" data-original-width="2048" height="400" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjBAmjKBmkdWXuuaVNnfV43NBTNLvA6UyGz1h8RUzGQlKH-UeaaXsZs2le85wATMQjnDeLGceW04Ibe3QqVm2nmf0YpfCJTuBONL8l1t_cWtO3XDNUJd_ORLjTViKQ6K_MQYz44HkQFcxhm/w400-h400/Hedgehogs+5.jpg" width="400" /></a></div>I've had these cute little polymer clay hedgehogs for such a long time that I no longer remember who the artist was that made them. I love how vivid her colors always are. Inspired by the books/TV series 'Outlander' and set mainly in the Scottish Highlands at the time of the Battle of Culloden, then moving via France to Northern America, it's natural that I've included a number of pieces of work using designs based on heather, leaves and wood. </p><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhKNSuMypo5VWl3uIwfjkQxAse4RfepzJ3BMmlVEAqwAi6IxkGGjomUVekHECqf-9jc1icjqt5BCkleYnoiDlXvjRSZ4MVfxrl380qjwYkjDwkp-ywlzVDmD3BRdmzklM0FfXoK-GnOkpg/s2048/121398564_787977248661361_9196474383639164098_n+%25282%2529.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="1396" data-original-width="2048" height="435" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhKNSuMypo5VWl3uIwfjkQxAse4RfepzJ3BMmlVEAqwAi6IxkGGjomUVekHECqf-9jc1icjqt5BCkleYnoiDlXvjRSZ4MVfxrl380qjwYkjDwkp-ywlzVDmD3BRdmzklM0FfXoK-GnOkpg/w640-h435/121398564_787977248661361_9196474383639164098_n+%25282%2529.jpg" width="640" /></a></div><div><br /></div><div><br /></div><div>These two new pairs of earrings are coming up this weekend in Part II - both using new, stained glass effect polymer clay leaves by <a href="www.etsy.com/shop/helensbatcave" target="_blank">Helen Backhouse</a>. </div><div>The top pair are lusciously long but light as a feather, using sigid wood tubes and Vintaj copper beadcaps, wound with silver/copper fancy headpins and swarowski crystals, hung on matching aqua niobium earwires. </div><div><br /></div><div><br /></div><br /><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEi-maTPTqNoY12mltMaT8PyfNZZsFTsAx4LUs1H3fR68bzXNfKvVGesFigeryBWOYjRd4RGKtzPtrN6OfS8ffAjrcCU9KFjVOIc9wZuMshuMHKt54bHf4nte3p8QpOMAQGv1FH8AAj0DDo/s2048/121459508_697484854190689_1635338721978055680_n.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="1756" data-original-width="2048" height="548" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEi-maTPTqNoY12mltMaT8PyfNZZsFTsAx4LUs1H3fR68bzXNfKvVGesFigeryBWOYjRd4RGKtzPtrN6OfS8ffAjrcCU9KFjVOIc9wZuMshuMHKt54bHf4nte3p8QpOMAQGv1FH8AAj0DDo/w640-h548/121459508_697484854190689_1635338721978055680_n.jpg" width="640" /></a></div><br /><p>The second pair have more purple in them - I had these perfect stained glass effect lampwork beads by Leese Mahoney and again used copper beadcaps and the silver/copper headpins with swarowski crystals. Such a great and timely inspiration. </p><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjWTiyjlZuH8aGdFaNcCEMnfUgtUpkfkRMNo55PzhtbxVDXGCgiwquoaUYrd1gp02PWHQOY63A2aGxs19BeYomgOz33GF50GAaF3qHrCYEwz-58U-EZtcWNFdlZ2Ot-3sO45FLMssedBy6r/s2048/Ghoulies+1.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="2048" data-original-width="2048" height="400" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjWTiyjlZuH8aGdFaNcCEMnfUgtUpkfkRMNo55PzhtbxVDXGCgiwquoaUYrd1gp02PWHQOY63A2aGxs19BeYomgOz33GF50GAaF3qHrCYEwz-58U-EZtcWNFdlZ2Ot-3sO45FLMssedBy6r/w400-h400/Ghoulies+1.jpg" width="400" /></a></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">I linked the melting faces to some beaded components made by <a href="https://www.facebook.com/groups/1752766821604005" target="_blank">Anna Pierson</a>. The rustic look of the beads looked great with the copper. I then wrapped <a href="https://www.facebook.com/Woolywire" target="_blank">Wooly Wire</a> around the bottom links and added my own handmade brass ear wires. I love how they turned out. I hope you do too. The Melting Face earrings are available in my shop now.</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEj3U8nZWub5EQ-h6SLFH91pMy9mceQ5t073aE_63uwyttkycP6S6by6fa_IZRFaESp0jmFi4WvY3x8irHX5GEHbFJLXGh8KexPMNTUORDO2WSaMce2WNsCj2Qm2egSXYBIkglIJDHjngUnY/s2048/Ghoulies+4.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="2048" data-original-width="2048" height="400" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEj3U8nZWub5EQ-h6SLFH91pMy9mceQ5t073aE_63uwyttkycP6S6by6fa_IZRFaESp0jmFi4WvY3x8irHX5GEHbFJLXGh8KexPMNTUORDO2WSaMce2WNsCj2Qm2egSXYBIkglIJDHjngUnY/w400-h400/Ghoulies+4.jpg" width="400" /></a></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">Stay safe friends. Maybe the pandemic is robbing me of my sanity, because, against all reason, I decided to make a pair of seed beaded earrings. </p><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgW3fN3T1h_o0xFbhN-qy0mSkKtkYpUIK9-q3pIc9cZBKLvU5apGHCjSVHFya4TljxuWKFpZNXfypbRHZi5aolFDPDm4sYsS5C2A8GwR2LcnJ7HanzPvNGeXWYgu-fVIsl-Ed3LXXn_aEmG/s2048/Super+Duo+Earrings+2%252C+I+made+these+for+myself.jpg" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="2048" data-original-width="2048" height="400" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgW3fN3T1h_o0xFbhN-qy0mSkKtkYpUIK9-q3pIc9cZBKLvU5apGHCjSVHFya4TljxuWKFpZNXfypbRHZi5aolFDPDm4sYsS5C2A8GwR2LcnJ7HanzPvNGeXWYgu-fVIsl-Ed3LXXn_aEmG/w400-h400/Super+Duo+Earrings+2%252C+I+made+these+for+myself.jpg" width="400" /></a></div><br /><p>About those directions....I decided to substitute these pretty metallic brass colored size 11 beads for the size 6's that the directions called for. I discovered that two size 11's were similar in size to one size 6. I felt so clever. But look carefully and you'll see where I went astray. Did you find it? On the bridge, below the ear hook, I used two seed beads on one earring and one seed bead on the other. Oops! Oh well. These are going to be mine and if anyone is close enough to notice this mistake then they seriously need to back up! By the time I wove the third earring - yes, you heard that right, I had to totally rip out #2 and start over again...anyway earring #3 was easier. </p><p>My hat's off to all you masterful seed beaders. Your work is truly impressive!</p><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEipO7xbxV7AxgAX68Ol3zZwSvf19ed_dwHlWwwY-SKj52WIbH1nktPA9eEO-XUdCSWOtluaIEHh8lh2Zbvorer2pGEdZnXRCBg6VKlbzbr3skgSxKDMKO145QtQHG5Pp9gES5IMD4jLyOY8/s300/linda-cursive.jpg" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="114" data-original-width="300" height="76" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEipO7xbxV7AxgAX68Ol3zZwSvf19ed_dwHlWwwY-SKj52WIbH1nktPA9eEO-XUdCSWOtluaIEHh8lh2Zbvorer2pGEdZnXRCBg6VKlbzbr3skgSxKDMKO145QtQHG5Pp9gES5IMD4jLyOY8/w200-h76/linda-cursive.jpg" width="200" /></a></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">The seed bead challenged beader</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://lindalandig.indiemade.com/" target="_blank">Linda Landig Jewelry</a></div><br /><p><br /></p>Lindahttp://www.blogger.com/profile/14013223342802270728noreply@blogger.com7tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-533782912333386427.post-88344377570871708922020-09-16T23:43:00.000-07:002020-09-21T23:47:05.013-07:00Fall, Leaves, Fall<p><span style="color: #783f04;"> I've been collecting art beads for over a decade now and I'm pretty good at remembering who made what and when, but for the life of me, I can't recall buying these delicate ceramic leaves. What with that and a pandemic, we need cheering up. So this weeks earrings were designed to be light, bright and cheerful! </p><p>These gorgeous enamel connectors by Kaz Baildon have so much potential - so many colours in the frit to highlight, and those three hole bottom edges to embellish as you choose. </p><p><br /></p><p></p><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEipT2jlgtzaI5Lv2HNtLCKKpZMrZ1w6B0h9sJvBq3GO6NJAPEbZAOj9XAMXp9zPln9BbrkxVP5KakECkzYQVc0yyVHObPWEEC8RUw1iBk7-YnsKnFvoPKpalAtnlXUHtX4eud3yVqc5emA/s3150/20200907_185147.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="3150" data-original-width="3072" height="500" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEipT2jlgtzaI5Lv2HNtLCKKpZMrZ1w6B0h9sJvBq3GO6NJAPEbZAOj9XAMXp9zPln9BbrkxVP5KakECkzYQVc0yyVHObPWEEC8RUw1iBk7-YnsKnFvoPKpalAtnlXUHtX4eud3yVqc5emA/w488-h500/20200907_185147.jpg" width="488" /></a></div><br /><p></p><p>I used swarowski crystals and crusty rustic gold czech glass daggers on both pairs; the crimson have czech glass beads and hand made copper earwires; the teal have faceted green onyx and some of Lucy Haslam's lovely green enamelled copper earwires. </p><p><br /></p><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEglKvmTvJZakvDYNHDgT20C0fM5vCJRHb63O7B9Om6es9fjRxMvZC326511ixVt92e_sMZaQnuAleeaG9iU0YK5Dm3NWAr96ecsxvg2Q4kwyEWDESx6jAkn_7xh6nfiluYDYR6TxAh_2D8/s3070/20200830_092912.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="3010" data-original-width="3070" height="491" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEglKvmTvJZakvDYNHDgT20C0fM5vCJRHb63O7B9Om6es9fjRxMvZC326511ixVt92e_sMZaQnuAleeaG9iU0YK5Dm3NWAr96ecsxvg2Q4kwyEWDESx6jAkn_7xh6nfiluYDYR6TxAh_2D8/w500-h491/20200830_092912.jpg" width="500" /></a></div><br /><p>The teal pair are sold but the crimson will be appearing in my Etsy shop soon. We all know how time consuming it is to make an item where you design it as you go along. I think I spent several hours creating the first earring. I made the second earring, it was almost finished. I was rather chuffed with myself until I realised I'd used black thread instead of grey. I couldn't face re-making the component in that sitting. So off it went in my 'box' of unfinished items. I think we all have quit a few of these 'boxes' lying around in our studio.</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">I always make my blog post earrings last minute. So I looked through my 'unfinished projects boxes' and came across these. I was ready to finish them. I hope you like the finished pair.</div><div style="text-align: center;"><br /></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhMbi-bq4sxFKMD1GSdJFLXHRL1xVzBoax-M4CQ-XFpkUTIwtC1G8WAoVSWesLJlRiH0SQmoApXmmpguTR2-I40ibexIEWljQxUNATdxYQtZbquLxmfxV6UUqpicOClP9fKBOe2YGb-ItE/s960/aug+20+3.jpg" style="display: block; padding: 1em 0px; text-align: center;"><img border="0" data-original-height="960" data-original-width="906" height="640" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhMbi-bq4sxFKMD1GSdJFLXHRL1xVzBoax-M4CQ-XFpkUTIwtC1G8WAoVSWesLJlRiH0SQmoApXmmpguTR2-I40ibexIEWljQxUNATdxYQtZbquLxmfxV6UUqpicOClP9fKBOe2YGb-ItE/s640/aug+20+3.jpg" /></a></div><p></p><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">Beautiful enamels by <a href="https://www.facebook.com/annet.riabukhina" target="_blank">Annet Riabukhina</a> hang from my beadwoven squares.</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><br /></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEifX3eHVRoObS3IzXDyYrn4jzUc5FJdF6pearLfZZ0tZZ1oOplR37lC9kF1zhxVvc61o3W7amNsuWz19iRvyXrpbp56xAw8QFXyT0jFYOrrsoo36dAMGzjaSPkc40AYVmL0boI6rmQ3uHw/s960/aug+20+2.jpg" style="display: block; padding: 1em 0px; text-align: center;"><img border="0" data-original-height="960" data-original-width="712" height="640" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEifX3eHVRoObS3IzXDyYrn4jzUc5FJdF6pearLfZZ0tZZ1oOplR37lC9kF1zhxVvc61o3W7amNsuWz19iRvyXrpbp56xAw8QFXyT0jFYOrrsoo36dAMGzjaSPkc40AYVmL0boI6rmQ3uHw/s640/aug+20+2.jpg" /></a></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">That's all for today. <br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgzYyjTHViX5m4Z2_i2JOi9mqr6YUwAbAvfdb67nTxc9tuwSe0ii2kEHIIFKP6cTfmY0OIGbLrqbIzlWYFZ_3eqriaT7RBkGd4JqwS0zyTVpqvznJqKnsTKCOp-QzGOjhVGkbjnDHibRd4/s1600/L1140196_edited-1.jpg" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="895" data-original-width="1515" height="378" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgzYyjTHViX5m4Z2_i2JOi9mqr6YUwAbAvfdb67nTxc9tuwSe0ii2kEHIIFKP6cTfmY0OIGbLrqbIzlWYFZ_3eqriaT7RBkGd4JqwS0zyTVpqvznJqKnsTKCOp-QzGOjhVGkbjnDHibRd4/s640/L1140196_edited-1.jpg" width="640" /></a></div>
<br />
I adore Kim's crusty lampwork drop headpins - had many a pair - so much colour and texture. Perfect with the faceted green onyx, they are suspended from Helen's beautiful, solid oxidised silver ammonite pieces. Finished with hand made, swirly oxidised silver earwires and tiny green seed beads, they are just so elegant, yet primeval. Like something a paleontologist would unearth. <div><br />

It's so pleasant to read or eat meals there and watch whatever critters are buzzing around. This summer, I've been trying to increase our yard's attractiveness to birds and friendly flying insects (no wasps, thank you!). We've always put out bird feeders, but this summer we added suet feeders to attract a larger variety of birds. I also put out a hummingbird feeder, although it hasn't been very popular yet. Last week I added a butterfly puddler (Google it), although it's too early yet to see if it will attract butterflies. I've noticed a lot of dragonflies in the yard. I love to watch them; their wings glistening in the sunlight. Although I don't know how to lure them to the garden, I do know how to wear them, or rather their likeness, on my ears.</p><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhPWwWQqJwzN5k5G7MaTt-utnyopgyl4nZEB7-gtjIFOpiRH1bZ_fnVyVSH1CQXQOvQ7HVtwJeRCT1L6CY0nRB3H6rsMuJrKa3jVpmg1ZAtYSr3V6WFTbV6aaMSRi0mXGjXMZu8MBydfgxs/s2048/Dragonfly+Earrings+2.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="2048" data-original-width="2048" height="640" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhPWwWQqJwzN5k5G7MaTt-utnyopgyl4nZEB7-gtjIFOpiRH1bZ_fnVyVSH1CQXQOvQ7HVtwJeRCT1L6CY0nRB3H6rsMuJrKa3jVpmg1ZAtYSr3V6WFTbV6aaMSRi0mXGjXMZu8MBydfgxs/s640/Dragonfly+Earrings+2.jpg" /></a></div><p>I've combined the lilac colored metal dragonflies with pink and purple lampwork beads. Lavender crystals sparkle at the top and bottom of these beauties. I'm quite infatuated with these earrings. You can find them in my online shop at <a href="https://lindalandig.indiemade.com/" target="_blank">Linda Landig Jewelry</a>.</p><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhAoxKzvmw9nDg6I1hYmqlBLrx761pWQk0U4CDHAclYoem0ucTBdZ3tRsQh5JZ2jWXPQP4lcpbOlArLnpMJ5_arUc4FcQKBS5mdS76KUiZi5Qi2XqQGe90J-9MFOuzF6HLseMK01HTFpo0A/s2048/Dragonfly+Earrings+1.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="2048" data-original-width="2048" height="640" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhAoxKzvmw9nDg6I1hYmqlBLrx761pWQk0U4CDHAclYoem0ucTBdZ3tRsQh5JZ2jWXPQP4lcpbOlArLnpMJ5_arUc4FcQKBS5mdS76KUiZi5Qi2XqQGe90J-9MFOuzF6HLseMK01HTFpo0A/s640/Dragonfly+Earrings+1.jpg" /></a></div><p>Although we usually have warm. sunny Septembers, I am starting to sense a subtle movement toward autumn.
