Run Around Blues...

I'm a mom and I do a lot of running around, so I keep my outfits pretty basic.  Since my outfits stay pretty simple my accessories need to add that little pop of color.  I could see me wearing this outfit running my errands with these sweet, girly blue heart earrings and who could not love that purse!

Have a Wonderful Wednesday, you're half way to the weekend!

Inspired by Music

I am working on completing my Challenge of Music pieces for the reveal this Friday, March 1st. I am working with a song called Shadowplay that inspired me to create these sinuous curves and coils. As the music grows in intensity, the coils become fuller and more entwined, like the unfurling of fiddlehead ferns. I am still working on the necklace, but these earrings will accompany them. I created an outfit that would pair perfectly with these.

Steampunk Style!

I just finished a new batch of steampunk earrings. I am excited to show you a couple pairs today. I don't know what it is lately but the thought of gears and clock parts inspires me! It seems right to mix metals in these as well. I made a few asymmetrical and others matching. They all have a fun mix of gun metal grey, copper and brass.
You will find these are a few others in my Etsy Shop. I hope you take the time to visit and shop around!

Purple Relics

Continuing in my vein of trying to draw inspiration from my surroundings, I was admiring one my African violets on my desk at work.  I have this under-counter fluorescent work light that my violets love and they have been blooming up a storm.

Look at those lovely, velvety, vibrant blooms!  I thought..."Wow, I need to make earrings that color! Hey, I remember some sweet purple ceramic charms I got from Jenny Davies-Reazor at ArtBliss last September!  I'll use those!"

I kept them simple by layering them over some copper discs that I texturized. The ceramic and copper make this fun, tinkling sound when you where them!

So versatile...wear with jeans, t-shirt and cowboy boots (my preference!) or with that pretty, springy, colorful floral dress!

These and more of my eclectic jewelry can be found at my shop!

Snow Owl

The triangular shape of these Jean Christen Ceramic beads, reminds me of the sweet face of the Snow Owl. I dangled these beads with some brass findings, and faceted Yellow Czech glass, a complementary color to the teal. I used long  Vintaj Brass kidney- style earwires so the beads can stand out front and center.

I found this cool image online:

Fanning the Flames

Always on the prowl for new artisan components to use in my designs, I recently discovered Petra Carpreau of Scorched Earth on Etsy. Located in the UK, Petra's style is raw and primitive which of course I find very appealing. She uses earthy colors with washes of metallic glaze on geometric shapes, and inserts patinated wire to form wonderful ancient looking components. They look like they have been recovered from an archeological dig of some past civilization who lived in the shadow of a volcano.

In this pair of earrings I chose to use mixed metals, brass, copper, tin and gun metal, in an asymmetrical arrangement that will bring out the metallics in the orange ceramic connectors. The result is tribal and bohemian and I hope unusual.

Thoughts of Spring

I am really looking forward to spring. The weather here has been really nice and I hope it stays that way. When it's too cold it's sometimes hard to get out of bed. These earrings are just perfect for spring! Some pale fresh green lampwork glass beads and flower dangles.
These and many more fun and eclectic earrings are available in my ETSY shop!! So head on over and have a look! I would also love to read your comments.

Drops of Rain

I was inspired by the coming of Spring when making these..the Apatite stones reminded me of rain drops. I've also become addicted to hammering copper wire lately!

Crazy Love

I picked up this strand of Crazy Lace Agate on impulse--I love the random mauves, lilacs and cinnamons in it. I had to combine it with copper! It's accented with little glass beads in violet.

I picture something classic and feminine with this:

Feeling Springy...

I live in western Canada and for us Spring doesn't really come until mid-May, just in time for summer to be on its heels.  However, we do have the luxury of enjoying chinooks in our region and with that we welcome spring-like breaks to our usually chilly winter days.  The last several days we have enjoyed beautiful sunshine, melting snow, wildlife has been out bustling around and the opportunity to set aside our bulging parka's for a light spring jacket.  This unseasonal weather has left me yearning for spring this year and rushing it here sooner than we will actually receive it.  So, I've been finding myself grasping onto anything flowery, colorful and just plain girly.  I've even found that lots of my jewelry has incorporated a colorful flair to it as of late and these earrings are no exception.  I love the way these would look with a pair of jeans, tee-shirt and a cardigan running a few errands here and there.

I hope you find the spring in your step today, as I have been finding mine.

All the best,
Traci

Flight of Fancy

These wings are still some of my favorites to work with. I love the dark brass and the versatility. They are also a great seller for me. I love that people love them. I make sure to try different things with them. Different styles of bead caps, different beads... it keeps them interesting
Here is a darker more "vampire" version of the earrings. Love the deep red crystals in this pair.
I hope this will entice you to shop today! You will find both these pairs in my Etsy shop. Have a great week!

Candy Hearts

Inspired by the upcoming St. Valentine's holiday, I crafted some sweet earrings with a couple of different elements: Super sweet  ceramic hearts from Elaine Ray, lampwork glass beads from Kelleys Beads, some Tin snippets bead caps, and hand-crafted resin charms from Speaking Your Truth by Mary Jane Dodd. I attached the hearts to these lacy filigrees by Vintaj Brass Co. with linen cording and some sweet pink seed beads.

Gotta love PicMonkey and all of their fun seasonal filters! I had a fun time making the earrings but even more fun doctoring up the photo!

You will find these and other fun earrings at my webstore!

Kleenex Box...

You've gotta take inspiration wherever you can get it!

I have been staring at this box of Kleenex for the last week at my office...

Torch-fired enamel, copper and carved stone flowers (serpentine?)...the colors of the 2 filigree are not really as different as the photo shows, but the lighting brought out more purple in the one on the left.  They are actually sort of a dark periwinkle that I came up with...I'd tell you my recipe, but can't give away all my secrets ;)

These will be up in my shop later today!

Daydreaming of the Tropics

My defense mechanism for dealing with post holiday slump, frigid weather and tax headaches is to daydream about a warm beach in the tropics. That perfect place in my memory where I am relaxed and rested, where there is someone to oblige my every whim. I can take all the time I need to dress up and do my hair, or just spend the entire day in a swim suit and feel the warm sand between my toes. Who wants to share my fantasy?

These earrings are designed to capture some of that care free tropical mood. Bright lime green colored leaf drops by White Clover combine with blue sea glass nuggets, turquoise and copper in an asymmetrical arrangement.

Moon Glow

These were so much fun to make! I tend to hold onto my sterling silver wire like it's gold (it's almost as expensive as gold these days!) but I decided to go ahead and try out this design using silver. I did something similar in copper a few months ago called Harmony. It's fun hammering and even using liver of sulphur can be exciting...just wish it wasn't so stinky. I added freshwater pearls and luckily remembered to dip some smaller gauge wire and ear wires in the smelly solution while I had it mixed.
