Flower Power

Hello, I have 2 pairs to share with you today.  Hope you like them.

First pair with classic black and red with a dash of white featuring porcelain charms by Terri DelSignore

Hanging view.

I took a much softer approach for the second pair echoing the colours of the charms, also by Terri DelSignore.  Copper hoops are also artisan made (I will update the blog if I can figure out who made them).

Hanging view.

These will be available in my group today.

Hope you haver a lovely weekend <3

Jewelled Hearts

Hello!
I really wanted to incorporate cup chain into my beadwoven designs.  I know it's very common in bead embroidery but I've not seen it in beadweaving.  I tried first by wire wrapping the cup chain in my usual manner....but when I went to add the beadwoven sections around it (and on the inside) it turned in to a right mess. This was a while ago.
I gave it another try, I thought if I used the same method as bead embroidery I might get better results. It worked however it is very very labour intensive but the result is amazing (I think so :D)

These are the first earrings in this design.  I'm pretty sure there will be more.

I combined red, light and dark pink, orange, gold and then matte silver grey to tone it down a little.  I've used beautiful porcelain bells by Lonely Seagull as the dangles.

Hanging view.

That's all for this week.  These will be available in my group later today.  Thank you and see you soon

Hello?

I am 'sort of' back.  I'm going to try and post more regularly 🤞.

I took up beadweaving last year, and I am hooked!  I'm a novice but I am loving using the teeny bit of skill I've acquired.  Today's earrings feature a pair of beautiful porcelain wings by Terri DelSignore.

Here I have added red delicas to the rectangle frame.  I know there isn't any red on the main components (wings) but I think the pop of red makes these look more interesting.

I do love using rhinestones on everything and these didn't get spared either.  I matched them up with the purple on the wings so they don't take away from the red.

Here's another view on my 'earringquin' 😆

I hope you like them. These are available, not sure where I will list them yet as my Etsy shop is closed.  Feel free to contact me via Facebook or my group if you're interested.  See you in a couple of weeks time.  Stay safe and well ❤🤗

Pretty pastels

More Claire Lockwood beauties from me. But I must apologise as I realise that the fabulous Suhana Hart used Claire's porcelain discs in her recent EE blogpost! So you can see a slightly different use of them here.

I had 2 beautiful pairs from an update of Claire's some time ago. Gorgeous off white background with grey black detail and soft accents of pink or lilac. They are really rather lovely. I combined these with pretty lampwork sea glass nuggets in co-ordinating colours by Joanne Joyce
I finished these off with a pretty czech glass briolette. The lilac ones have sold, but these pretty pink ones are available in my shop (link below). I love the contrast of the pastel shades with the dark oxidised copper wire
See you in a couple of weeks :-)

Hyacinth Blue

Sitting at my table today with the scent of hyacinths cheering up a grey day. Somehow the blue variety seem to have the most powerful scent.  Another harbinger of spring; and January is already approaching its close. So what could be better than some pretty, delicate earrings in the very same shade of blue?

The beautifully detailed, organically shaped fine porcelain pieces are by ceramic artist Emma Wilson who lives not too far from me in  northern England,  near the wonderful Lake District National Park. I have more of her work than I'd care to admit!

Not wanting to overegg the pudding, I've simply hung them with goldfill jumprings from glossy, ridged ceramic connectors by Robyn Cove and added goldfill earwires. The fine detail in Emma's work has to be seen to be believed.

Available in my Etsy shop if you'd like a touch of Spring.
I'll be back next week in my regular slot - so keep well until then!

The Silk Route

I have a HUGE stash of sari silk and I suspect this is true of most of us?! So a couple of weeks ago I dug them out (literally) and had a play.  I made several pairs of earrings.

Porcelain drops by Melissa Gabelle and the wrapped bundle (as one of my customers called it) consists of a brass tube wrapped in sari silk and cup chain.  If you squint your eyes long enough you should be able to see the sari silk peeking out from under the cup chain. I added some Czech glass flowers in blue and dark orange to match the colours on the drops.

Porcelain caps by Melissa Gabelle.  Stacked up on top are Swarovski rondelles, lampwork beads, Czech glass and some teeny porcelain rounds.  Hanging from underneath are my sari silk and chain wrapped 'bundles' and flower drops.

Top 2 pairs are new but I had to share a 3rd pair I made a couple of weeks ago.  Again they feature porcelain drops by Melissa Gabelle, stacked on top are brass caps and tubes followed by hoops and topped with wrapped sari silk.

Then there are these:

Here I have incorporated sari silk in one of my signature designs. Petra Carpreau Frida drops, wrapped with sari silk and chain and topped with Czech glass rondelles.

Lastly, Petra Carpreau Vermeer drops, slightly asymmetrical.

Now that I have unearthed my sari silk stash - there might a flood of designs featuring the same ;).

I hope you like this week's offerings.  Top 2 pairs will be available in my next online Trunk show and the bottom 2 pairs are currently listed in my Etsy shop.

Have a lovely weekend.

See you in a couple of weeks time.

Earthy Ceramics

I'm a big fan of ceramics and porcelains in my pieces and I'm always on the look out for new works.  I just happen to stumble across ETSY shop Butterfly Emporium who started offering these little ceramic charm sticks/slabs.  I was drawn to them for their rich color, organic textures and overall pricing.   I ended up purchasing three sets to start and all sold in just a short period of time.  They are super light in weight and all come with a wire loop.

I love this bursting blue flow,  I just happen to have some lovely lamp-work glass caps that were some what mismatched in color, because the drops had such a variety of tones, there was no problem combining the two, ☺

Another great earthy look with more mismatched lamp work square glass beads.  Bottom pair is combined with Etched Agate rounds and porcelain spacers.

So head on over and see if there is something you cant live without,  I guarantee your gonna love em!!!

See you in a couple weeks friends, ♥

Left Overs ♥

For any of you who are a huge fan, like me!! of Scorched Earth on ETSY, and have ordered from Petra Carpreau will appreciate the little extra's she throws in her shipments, and I'm not talking about just the candy!!☺  I have quite the overflowing drawer of little goodies.  Often one offs in the batch, but they can sure come in handy when looking for a unique addition to a creation.  Over time I have collected, "sets" to speak of these little porcelain hearts.

So what did I do to them you say?  Just couldn't use them in their natural black state, so of course I had to jazz them up a bit. Sometimes you need to create change to your materials to make the design work.

I've always been in love with rock Mandala painting like the one you see below from Digs Groove.  The patience and work that goes into this art is beautiful!  This is what inspired me to paint on the hearts.  What a difference, don't you think?  Although my earrings are much more organic, I think they turned out pretty good and it fits with their rustic aura.

So if you sitting on a little porcelain mine of Petra's left overs, explore, you never know what what you might come up with. ☺

Thank you for visiting friends, see you again in two weeks!!

Weaver of the Web ☼

Hello everyone, my name is Lynn Ferro and this is my very first post!  I cannot tell you how thrilled I'am to be included in this blog, sharing my work with some of the most talented creators I know.  I have been creating and selling since 2007 and currently have a shop on Etsy named Yucca Bloom

I find it most appropriate with my first post coming right before Halloween to show off my spider web earrings.  I purchased these connectors from Petra Carpreau of Scorched Earth on Etsy back in March, 2015.  I instantly fell in love with their unique look, but struggled immensely with a great design.  It all came to light looking back at some photos of tiny spider webs formed in the corners of a bridge handrail.  I did my best to weave my own web with glass seed bead droplets. I think they turned out pretty sweet, don't you?

Amazing how nature can have such an impact in your designs, I plan to do it more often ♥

As the weaver of the web, the spider symbolizes the spirit of creation and is associated with female creative energy.

Sounds like were all tiny spiders in our own weaving way♥

Thanks for stopping by, leave me some comments and we'll see you again soon.

Indian Summer Earrings

My sister and brother in law are visiting us this week.  My sister in law enjoys beading too, so today I took her to Shipwreck Beads, the largest bead store in the world!  And yes, I live just 15 minutes away.  Too much temptation, too close by!

Here's what my sister in law bought.
And these are my goodies. I used them straight off to create today's earrings.
The rondelles are Cherry Creek Jasper and the cool glass beads are called pellet beads.
The bronzy porcelain drops are from Scorched Earth.

I couldn't come up with a name for these earrings, so I asked my sister in law.  She had an immediate response:  Indian Summer Earrings.  Perfect!
