Provence

Haystacks in Provence
These earrings are based on a tube bail design I did, but flipped upside down and miniaturized for earrings. I added little loops at the bottom for hanging beads. The etched floral design makes me think of sunflowers, so I knew I wanted some kind of goldenrod color in them. I searched through my stash and these gold coin pearls were just the thing. I tried four or five different color combinations with them, and this amazonite appealed to me the most. The gold and pale robin's egg blue made me think of French country decor!

These are totally South-of-France-vacation earrings, or weekend-shopping-for-French-country-decor earrings. I imagine them worn with something like this:

Leaf Me Alone

{Leaf Me Alone - in peach and lilac - $24}

Spring is coming, right? It is written on the calendar. The groundhog has spoken. Yet there were wee snowflakes floating down as I left for work this morning and the snow is stubbornly refusing to budge.

I am ready for color and pattern and sunnier days. I want to hear the birds and see the buds explode on the tree outside my office window. I long for the flowing water in the river and the ducks waddling along the shore.

Hurry Up Spring!

I went in search of some color and found it in this great outfit that matches perfectly with my new Leaf Me Alone earrings, shown here in peach and lilac mottled just so on some brass leaves.

Of course, I like this little leaf shape so much, I made them in a rainbow of sherbet hues just in time for the opening of a local garden center that might be carrying my work. But if you have to have a pair for yourself, let me know and I could make one just for you!

Talons of the Dragon

The last few weeks I've been playing with Polymer Clay, this is an unusual shape that I discovered.
It's actually part of a larger shape, just one little piece of it that to me looked like a claw or talons!
What do you think? Looking at this picture they almost look like skulls?
Any idea where this shape comes from, part of a larger whole of...what?

Here are the "Dragon's Talon" pieces danging from 3 stacked Czech Glass beads with hints ot color. The faceting combined with the colors almost remind me of scales which I think pairs well with the Talons!

Grandma's Attic

Happy First Day of Spring!!

On a trip to a local antique mall, I recently found a little wooden box full to the brim with mother of pearl buttons, big and small.  It was quite a find, as sometimes it's difficult to find the really itty bitty buttons. I imagine some cute little Grandmother who owned these, would get a kick out of the idea of repurposing them in some earrings!

I really love layered pieces, and it was fun to tie some buttons onto these enameled components from Gardanne Beads.  I dangled some bead caps glass headpins below each. The coral and pale green with the creamy colored buttons just reminds me of my own Grandmother who loved spring colors and gardening!

You can find these and other sweet earring selections in my Etsy shop, Lorelei Eurto Jewelry.

My Yellow Phase

Do you find yourself mezmerized by a particular color or combination of colors when creating? I guess if Picasso had his blue period, then it's ok to spend some time exploring different ways to use one color. It's funny, because I never really liked yellow much. But now I've discovered this rich golden yellow sometimes called saffron, butterscotch, mustard, curry, or ochre that goes so well with some blues and greens that I am using it all the time.

This pair of earrings features components from two of the Earrings Everyday designers. Gorgeous polymer clay beads from Heather Powers and copper clay heart drops from Kristi Bowman.

Out of Orbit

I had to snatch a few of these lampwork beads that my husband made before we sold them all a few weeks ago. I'm so glad I did! I just love them. I wanted to wire wrap them at a bit of an angle like they were actually floating out in the atmosphere somewhere. Check out the Bubby & McGurk Beads Facebook page to find out when his next sale will be or to request a custom order.

You can see these earrings here and see more of my work on my website.

Plum Poppies

Plum Poppies
These "fairy flower" lampwork beads from Mermaid Glass are a delicious, pale plum color. They make me think of poppies! And plum jelly. I love the burst of amber in the center. I've wired them onto sturdy 18-gauge copper earwires, and accented them with little square glass beads in iridescent butterscotch and lilac glass rounds.

As usual, I picture them with jeans! And some wild shoes.

Tick Tock Turquoise

{Would you like a pair of your very own? Email me and we can discuss what beads in my stash might work for you!}
I haven't been home before 9:30 since March 1st in case you have been wondering where I've been. Between birthday parties, the religious ed classes I am part of to sponsor a college student getting First Communion and Confirmation at Easter, nightly rehearsals for a tap performance my daughter was in last weekend and the Band Extravaganza concert last night (that I only found out about at 7:30 am Monday morning when my darling daughter brought me the permission slip for the afternoon rehearsal), I have not felt very connected, and certainly not pulled together. To top it all of I realized at 9:42 pm last night that today was my day to post, so I sat down in the {neglected} studio and pulled together these earrings lickety-split from what was lying on the table.

These pretty lampwork beads are from my friend Julianna Cannon of Julsbeads who makes the most lovely glass beads. The dangles are made from hammered 16 gauge aluminum flat wire (and actually are a shade darker than what you see). They take a hammer so nice! They swing back and forth just like a pendulum counting down the minutes for me to get ready in the morning. 5-4-3-2-1. A few quick touch ups to hair and make-up, layering a great color for spring, then slipping on my leopard print pumps and I am out the door. Having the perfect accessory - and the perfect lipstick (Raisinberry from Mary Kay) - makes all the difference in how put together I feel. I think I will be digging out my leopard print pumps this week!

Old World Style!

One of my favourite things to work with is Verdigris pieces. I love the old world charm that it brings to any piece. One of my favourite things to mix it with however is red and Black Brass! So rich and romantic!
These are the two pairs available in my Etsy Shop right now. I will be adding more this week. So much to do and so little time! I am looking to some of my Pinterest Boards for inspiration on designing more of these in unique combinations!

Have fun shopping and wear Earrings Everyday!!

Cocoons

In case you all didn't know it yet, I've been playing with Polymer Clay recently.
These Cocoons are one of the first things I made and I think they turned out really cool!!

I paired them up with Glass Discs from Outwest, absolutely perfect color match!!

These are nice and long with lots of wonderful movement but light as a feather!

So unusual and that splash of Turquoise blue with the neutrals just sets off.

And those Outwest Discs...Perfection!!

I am bordering on obsessing about Cocoons now,
in my search I have found so many amazing Cocoons that I had to start a Cacoon board on Pinterest
I can hardly wait to try to duplicate.

These Earrings are available HERE in my Esty shop.

We always love to hear what you think so please leave a comment!
Thanks for stopping by!

Dots and Flowers

Wow, Easter is just around the corner!  I have pastel, springy, Easter Egg-y colors on the brain lately.

With that in mind, I created these pretty earrings with copper flower components I embossed in my Big Shot, then enameled in Springy Robin's Egg blue. The sweet dots in Jelveh Jaferian's lampwork beads matches exactly! Not to mention the gorgeous shades of purple that surround them!

I used sterling silver to keep them soft to the eye, adding hand cut caps, little molten drops, and of course, hand wrought earwires.

And, since we all know how crazy the weather is in March, it always pays to have rain gear ready!  I chose some sweet, colorful, fun items to wear when the Spring rain comes!

Hoot

It is safe to say that I am loving life being able to stay home and create on a daily basis. No more offices, fancy dress clothes and aggravations that come along with working outside the home. Although I do miss seeing the art every day at the Museum, it really has been wonderfully rewarding doing what I'm doing. These earrings were inspired by my love of jewelry and my mantra these days: LOVE LIFE
I cut out the copper and Silver sheet, hammered each piece, and oxidized them using liver of sulphur.  I stamped the words on the silver discs. Wire wrapped them with some copper wire and include sweet tiny kite charms from Elaine Ray.

Nothing is more fun than a little window shopping in the wee hours of the morning, so I put together an outfit that you could probably see me wearing if you stopped by my house unannounced.

Rustic Indonesian Glass

The art of glass bead making in Indonesia dates back to at least 600 AD, with most of the oldest beads discovered near East Java. Indonesia is strategically located for trade, so the beads were used as currency. They were coveted for their protective powers, many people believed these beads could keep evil spirits from harming them.

These colorful glass beads add so much character to handmade jewelry and I like to use them often. This earring design uses rustic blue Indonesian glass beads in a triangular shape with hand forged oblique copper hoops, Greek bronze coated flake shaped ceramic beads and orange Czech glass.

Saffron Squares

Loved these little saffron Czech beads that I bought from Arte Bella Surplus and thought I'd pair them with some turquoise chips. You could wear them with so many different outfits but here's what I came up with on Polyvore.
