Hello earring friends, happy August 15.

At the moment we are actually on holiday. A proper holiday YAY. We are staying in a small mountain cabin, an hour drive away from the massive tourism on the campsite, where we normally live. And I brought my beads with me. Well, part of my stash, as there couldn't fit more in the car LOL. So basically I have created my own bead retreat. And I am so happy to finally have time to play with my beads for a complete day. A complete week.  Better still: two weeks.....
Most people we encounter think we are always on holiday, living partly in Greece and partly in the Netherlands. I wish this was true. Yep, we are living in a "holiday" country, in a camper on a campsite. But we both have a daytime job as well.

In the stash I brought with me I am rediscovering all the treasures I have been hoarding for quite some time. Having remade the disc earrings two weeks ago I came across a complete treasure trove of disc (and other) beads made by Debbie Sanders. I so admire and love her beads and craftsmanship. And what do you know... they go perfect with the gorgeous polymer clay beads made by Cindy Hinds.

Blue

Hello friends, how are you doing?

Last Friday we arrived back in Greece. And unbelievable, in the Netherlands the weather was much much better than here. Blue skies, spring weather. Here we have had rain almost every day and the blue skies are hard to find. The weather definitely is shifting.
So, I made some blue earrings. 

As you perhaps know I love love love lampwork glass beads. This month I had an interview with Juliette Mullett, such a gifted lampwork bead artist. I thought that the gorgeous beads I used in these earrings were made by her. Nope. She makes similar ones, but these are made by a different artist. And I just can't remember who made these. If you know, please mention her name in the comment, so I can give her proper credit. The polymer clay headpins and the earwires are made by me. These earrings will be available in my jewelry show later this month.

Not so green

Hello friends,

Today's post is about not taking the time to read properly. Yep, being impatient as I am, I did not read the post of the "We're all earrings challenge" of this month properly. What stayed in my mind was spring and "leaping green".
So, with much gusto I dived into my polymer clay stash and started to make some pencil stroke flower beads in soft pink with some sparkles (the "spring" part of the challenge). I learned to make these through the tutorial of Susan Bailey of Turtle Soup Beads. 

I love love love her beads. Mine are not quite as pretty as hers, but I am learning.

Thinking leaping green, I combined the  beads with pretty green beads. So I was all set for the challenge. I thought. Not. Nope. When I wanted to post the blog I finally read the second post of Erin... Oops, it was suppose to include much more green. Ah, well, that meant I had some new earrings to show you today :)

Ancient Faces

Hello!
So I made these earrings a few days ago. I was hoping to create something brand new today, but completely ran out of time, but I'm happy to make these the star of the show!
There are lots of jewellery components featuring faces at the moment. None more beautiful (in my opinion!) than Natalie of Peruzi's. These exquisite faces are made from polymer clay and have a beautifully bleached, ancient look. There is some pretty orange mosaic detailing at the top of the faces, which I matched with beautifully rich amber rondelles

I've framed the faces with two different kinds of brass hoops, and added some pretty, rustic indonesian beads

So that's it from me for a couple of weeks! These pretties will be available at the end of the month over on The Earrings Show in Facebook Land :-)

Do you sometimes feel like you have multiple personalities when it comes to accessorizing?

I do..... some days I feel bohemian and I'd love to wear long colorful dangly funky earrings and colorful flowy clothes, and other days I'm more 'subtle' minded and want something that can showcase my love of happy colors in a much more compact design.

I've made these 3" long earrings starting with a pair of my handmade polymer clay headpins, and some fun sparkling Czech glass beads in various fresh summery colors:

And I loved the drop section on these long earrings so much, I decided to make an almost matching mini pair for those days where we want to carry that same boho feel, but in a much more subtle way:

Sparkling colorful Czech Glass beads, Copper and Gold-tone accents and findings, finished with Niobium Ear wires.
