Pine Tassels

Happy Holidays!

I wanted to do something special for the holidays, something nature-inspired and yet a little dressy!  Here is my version of festive pine needle tassels and holly berries! Ta-da!

Silky pine colored tassels secured with a vintage ornate jump-ring and

rustically wrapped faceted red rondels.

That's a wrap for 2019!  I'm looking forward to 2020 if the kind folks at EE have me back! ;D

Cheers to all,

Merry Christmas

Handmade earrings for the holidays are especially festive.  Personally, I prefer holiday colored earring without the usual culprits  - no Santas, reindeer, elves, gift boxes or fake tree lights.  This pair of earrings fits the bill.
The glass beads have a green and red core, with a swirl of glittery blue winding around it.  The colored glasses is encased in clear glass, giving the beads depth and intensity. The hammered gold ovals add to the festive spirit and reflect the light a bit.  These earrings are available in my shop.
All of us at Earrings Everyday wish you a joyous holiday season, filled with laughter and love. 💖

The Firebird

More than a year ago, I fell in love with these heart-meltingly beautiful resin wings by the wonderful Joanne Louvaine Bell of Twinkiedinky:

They're perfectly made, with gold veins and just the right amount of sparkly gold dusting, fading into a beautiful padparadscha pink-red-orange color to die for.  I held on to these beauties for a long time, working on other projects, but I kept thinking about them...and I finally asked one of my favorite bead artists, Beth Mellor, to make some beads to go with them.  And did she ever!

Beth's two-color hollow beads are perfect, with their swirls and streaks of gold over a delicious color that's a close match to the little padparadscha Swarovski crystals right beneath them.  The fiery colors, the lines, the heat of the earrings remind me of the title character of The Firebird, one of my favorite ballets:

Ballerina Misty Copeland as the Firebird.

The Firebird.

Thanks for reading, all!
I'll be back in a couple of weeks.  💗

Sand Between Your Toes

It's the time of year when minds turn to booking your summer holiday - if you are as late in doing so as  I am!

Thinking of beaches and rockpools, clear azure seas, hazy mountains in the distance; a cool glass of wine in a beach bar in the evening, watching the red sun slowly go down behind those mountains. Bliss. I can almost feel warm sand between my toes.

This week I've even foregone my normal dark wood photo background for this whitewash wood/white sand one. I must say, it was a lot trickier to get the right exposure on a light background.

My friend Helen Backhouse recently took a trip to London to meet up with some friends over from New Zealand. The guy is an absolute expert on shells and always brings her some new ones with which to make moulds for her polymer clay pieces. In their honour she has come up with some wonderful new matte sorbet colours, as shown in these two pairs. Soft lilacs and blue/greens.

This pair are so full of texture I thought I'd add some more! The little lampwork beads with tiny shells and sand particles on I've had for years but are from Mayahoney. I've tied them with lilac waxed irish linen cord and seed beads.

My second pair have larger smoother whirly shells wrapped with bronze wire to chunky amethyst cubes and amazonite rondelles, perfectly echoing the colours Helen has used for the shells.
I hope these put you in holiday mood! I've a few shell pairs now in my Etsy shop.

See you again in two weeks

Holiday Ferris Wheel Earrings

I've had fun making, what I call, my Ferris Wheel ceramic components, in a variety of color combinations.  So I thought, "Why not see how they look in holiday colors?".
So I made one pair with a green background and one pair with a red background.  The green background pair sold at Bead Fest and the other pair became the earrings you see here.
Gold always feels festive during the holidays, so I paired the ceramic dangles with gold plated beads and some satin finish, red "o-beads".
I will have these for sale at a show I'm doing this weekend, but if they don't sell, I'll be adding them to my shop. Do you like to wear holiday themed jewelry or not so much.  Let me know in the comments.

Seasons Greetings ♪♫♪♫♪♫

Oh the Holidays... A time for family and friends, reflecting the year's past and planning new goals for the future.  It's one of the few times of the year that I make festive pieces for the occasion.  Generally I'm behind as time gets away from me and before you know it the season is upon us, however I was able to get a few pieces done in time to sell for those who like to show off their holiday spirit.

My first pair is a collaboration of artisan made lamp work with ole St. Nick ceramic discs.  In between them I wire wrapped cream glass seed beads that remind me of a string of lights.

My next pair shows off some enamels of traditional red and white mittens with striped glass discs atop finished off with green twine for the special holiday look.

Saving my favorites for last!  Ceramic rain-deer discs topped off with aged grey leather wrapping.  I wish I had a million of these!!!

Mele Kalikimaka

I have to admit, National Lampoon's Christmas Vacation has become somewhat of a tradition for me and my hubby to watch every holiday season.  I mean come on! its a classic, right?  It doesn't matter how many times I've seen it, I laugh hysterically every time.
squirrel ?
I made these earrings this past weekend not really expecting this design, but turns out, I really love them. They were popping with color that did in fact bring out some holiday cheer, ☺
I posted them on my Facebook page and received a wonderful comment to how they resemble a Hawaiian Christmas, so there ya go...they are now titled my Mele Kalikimaka earrings, ☺

So dream big friends!!
Say so long to 2015 and we'll be ROCKIN in the New Year!!!

♪♫♪♪♫ Mele Kalikimaka is the thing to say,
on a bright Hawaiian Christmas Day,
That's the island greeting that we send to you,
From the land where palm trees sway,
Here we know that Christmas will be green and bright,
The sun to shine by day and all the stars at night,
Mele Kalikimaka is Hawaii's way

Holly Daze

I created these earrings for a holiday show last week. I wanted something that was a nod to the holidays but could be worn all winter. I looked to holly leaves for my inspiration.

These were cut from sheets of copper, shaped and textured and then given an antiqued patina.

This was my reference for my inspiration, a botanical painting from 1819.

I created pendants, ornaments and two styles of earrings. The more traditional holly ones with the little red seed beads were a hit too.

I'm not quite ready for the holidays yet, give me a few more days and maybe a snowflake or two!

Chains and Leather

We're into the swing of the Holidays, and this means lots of parties coming up!

Are you ready for it?

In my humble opinion, just like a woman's wardrobe is not complete unless she owns "That little black dress", the same goes for her jewelry box... You've got to own that perfect pair of earrings for your nights out on the town:

A little bit mysterious with the Black Spinel gemstones and Hematite Beads...
A little bit edgy with the Sterling Silver chains...
Textures that catch the light and dazzle the room...
A touch of Fire Engine Red lipstick and nail polish... your favorite black dress and it is time. to. party.
Black Leather Holiday Style

I looooooove leather, and I couldn't resist creating a couple of Polyvore boards
featuring black leather :)

Of course, the board above features a more 'upscale' style, but these Black Spinel/Hematite Hoop Earrings would work equally well with this more casual leather outfit:

Now that is versatility!

A Little Early Holiday Cheer

I know, I know.  I shouldn't be dreaming of sugarplums or winter wonderlands just yet.  But I can't help it.  Christmas is my happy place and I start feeling a little giddy about the holiday around mid-October.  I have a stash of holiday craft and cook books that suddenly appear on the side table.  Pinning becomes increasingly holiday focused as November rolls around.  A few days into November and I'm already a little feverish with ideas of decorating and gift making for the season.  I do exercise restraint and wait until after Thanksgiving to officially begin any merry making.

But I have been creating holiday jewelry and one of the my favorite designs this year are these Holiday Cheer Earrings.  I did them in several colors to reflect the season, because there is a lot of sparkle needed between now and the New Year.
A silvery pair for celebrating the first snow. Or if you live in the north, maybe the second or third snow.

A joyful and bright pair for holiday decorating and parties.

A winter woodland pair inspiring by the snow and ice covering the trees. These look really great with my favorite accessory of the season - a hot cup of cocoa!

And cheery berry colored pair to sport when your whipping up holiday treats!

Holly and Berry Earrings

When it comes to the holidays my decorating and dressing up take it's cues from the beauty of nature during the winter months.  I'm drawn to evergreens, pine cones, holly, snowflakes and frosty ice as seasonal motifs.  These earrings reflect that holiday mood without being too Christmas-y, which appeals to me as I'd probably wear them throughout the wear.  The berries have some plum undertones making them read less traditional.

The leaves and berries were sculpted from polymer clay and paired with brass in warm golden hues.  You can find them in my Etsy shop.

And speaking of what I'd wear for the holidays, I'd like to love to wear this outfit for the candle-light service on Christmas Eve.  I don't know if I could get away with the printed pants, but they sure have caught me eye.

Silver and Gold Modern Earrings

A little sparkle for the holidays in silver and gold.  The sterling silver ear wires are simple and elegant and all that is needed to show off these handcrafted golden branch beads.

Dress them up or down with a clutch:

I'd sport them with a textured clutch with a silk ribbon flower from Kelley's Keepsakes for a daytime holiday gathering.

But if it was an evening party I might pair them up with this silver silk and mustard yellow ribbon, wrapped up like a little gift, from AO3 Designs
