Last Days of Summer

Tomorrow is my birthday, and it's always a little bitter sweet for me.
I enjoy the celebrations, but it also reminds me that Summer is sadly fading away.

When I was a child, it meant that I'd be starting school the following week
and that my days at the beach were coming to an end.

Inspired by what this week has meant for me for nearly half a century,
I've created this set on Polyvore, to go with my earrings

I just LOVE this dress, don't you?

Boho Beach

The earrings I've made are simple 'stick' earrings with mixed metal
and features a pair of gorgeous 'blue jeans' color Topaz gemstones:

I wanted to capture the simplicity and breezy airy feeling of the beach,
and some of the geometric lines found in the dress and sandals.

The gorgeous slightly muted blue shade of these faceted Topaz gemstones
captures the sun and some of the colors in the sundress :)

I think that mixing metals is my favorite thing to do...
You can find these earrings on my website.

Enjoy the end of Summer while it lasts!

Come on Summer!

I am so exited for summer to get here! I live in WA state and we've had such a wet cold winter. The weather forecast says we are in for a treat with high temps all week! I'm treating myself to a few days off at Long Beach.

Instead of sharing a pretty outfit to match my earrings I am sharing some beach pictures. Not the sunny white sand beach with the blue ocean. But OUR beach. Our beach is windy and cold (mostly) and sunny warms days are a rarity. This week promises to be amazing. I cannot wait.

These pictures were taking a few years ago. I went to this spot with my daughter looking for something special to convert to a bead or bauble. Unfortunately we just found a lot of driftwood. However it was a beautiful site- the ocean rolling in, the waves were huge. Kind of scary but a rush at the same time.

Last Look Back

Fall is here on Long Island. The leaves are falling and the nip in the air is feeling more like
winter is at the back door. Our neighborhood is coming alive with bright mums and pumpkins
everywhere.

I drove down to the beach yesterday to take in the beauty of the ocean. I go down there as much as I can.
It is beautiful at anytime of the year . It was very windy yesterday as I walked along the shore.

I will make a few more trips down before it gets too cold, to take one last look back at the summer that is now the past.

I love designing with nature in mind. So much inspiration. And for me the ocean is my place to refresh and relax, and let my creative juices flow.

These earrings are earthy, primitive and rustic. I found the shells on one of my treasure hunts.

I wrapped the simple copper hoops in sand colored sari silk and added rustic African turquoise,  copper paddle charms and  gorgeous apatite gemstones.
