Lotus Awakening

{Lotus Awakening for Sale in the Tesori Trovati webstore}
I had these little new old stock raw brass flower filigree bead caps. I bought them to enamel. That was before I took the class with Barbara Lewis and discovered that it won't work on raw brass. I didn't want to give up on them, so I decided to see what would happen with the new Vintaj metal patinas.

The colors are very vibrant, they can be layered, but you have to work quickly because they bond to metal  and dry fast. This is a few colors of the patinas blended together and paired with amethyst.

I would pair these earrings with this beautiful purple jersey infinity scarf from LenitaGM on Etsy.

 And this recycled bomber jacket turned hip bag by my friend Lori from Studio Waterstone on Etsy. I am seriously tempted to buy this bag. I just recently bought one of Lori's recycled bomber jacket bags in teal because I couldn't wait. Now I want this one in black, too!
{Look at the color inside this one! Squee! Trust me, you want this... I sure do!}

Better late than never!!

Being that it's Canadian Thanksgiving, I zoned out and missed posting this morning. I am not used to keeping track of Mondays that are holidays anymore, thought it was still the weekend! lol

 I wanted to post these fun and rustic earrings for you today. I love the black brass and how rich it is. These earrings are meant to be a little rough around the edges and I think they turned out perfectly!

You can find these listed in my ETSY SHOP as well as many more designs! Have fun shopping and come again soon!

Gypsy Boho

Inspired by Erin Siegel's "Copper Antiquity" in Bohemian Inspired Jewelry. Looking for inspiration? I would recommend that book, it's full of fabulous designs!

The pair shown above are the first pair I made (but I kept those for myself!)

I recently sold the pair shown above but as you can see there are LOTS of options for this style and lots of fun to make!

To see these earrings and some of my other designs, check out my website

Thanks,

Salt of the Earth.....

A few weeks ago, I attended ArtBliss, where I took a couple of classes and got to hang out with some friends, new and old!  It was great fun and I learned lots...I have a blog post in the works for Art. Life. Love., to share more of that adventure.  While there, I had the good fortune of attending a trunk show of the amazing, Jenny Davies-Reazor.  Jenny and I had met before, but this year we had something in common...we both just got chosen as contributors to Art Jewelry Elements!  I bought several cool items from Jenny, but these earring components practically threw themselves at me!

Ever since I was introduced to salt glaze pottery, like this David Eldreth pottery, by 2 of my sisters, who are collectors, I have loved it.  I don't have a huge collection, but I have some choice pieces.  These earring components  evoke that same simple, earthy, down home vibe that I get from my Eldreth pieces.

I love that they are components aren't identical!  I paired them with sodalite rondells and lots of sterling silver.  I embellished  the connecting links with Hill Tribe silver disks, wrapped on with copper headpins.

These are the kind of earrings you can put in your ears and just leave in all autumn!  You can find these and more of my eclectic jewelry designs at my website, Melismatic Art Jewelry, or in my Etsy shop.

Flight Formations

A Murmuration is a flock of starlings that fly in synchronized formation- here's a video of them in action! Beautiful eh?
My earrings this week are inspired by Murmuration. The pewter bird charms have wings spread, and dangle below gorgeous lampwork glass beads from NaOs Glass.  They are available in my etsy store

Displays R Us

I am getting ready to put on my one and only show tonight at the Women's Fund A.R.T.S. Night (A Reason To Shop). This fundraiser raises money for the Women's Fund to support women and children in Portage County. Because of that, I am very low on time, I don't think that I have made enough, my new booth redesign is coming along but the paint is still drying and have displays on the brain. So I am sharing with you some displays that I think are clever!

Little Bit Country

Feathers, wings, faith, bright blue skies, wide-open spaces and miracles - yep, somewhere in my heart of hearts I'm a little bit country.

And based on my outfit below, I'm feeling just a little bit cold too. I haven't owned a turtleneck in 10 years, but this year I'm thinking I may need to add one or two to my wardrobe. I like the idea of layering it with a kimono style sweater in monochromatic tones.

What do you think - turtlenecks, yeah or nah?  Just what we need for a cold fall day or too matronly?
