The Riches

I'm sure we all have colour combinations we can't resist. I love magenta and copper.

I made these back in.... I can't remember! Some time ago. They have been in my shop waiting patiently for a new home.

See how patient they look? I've mixed copper-coloured czech glass with pink impression jasper wheels, and finished them off with some vintage copper-tone drops. They've been patient so long that they've been placed in a temporary sale section. I'm also offering 25% off all jewellery this week. All of this means that you can grab these for less than £10 - or under $15 - if you use the discount code SPRING25. Here's a link. Am I alone in my love of magenta and copper?

bye for now, Claire

Designing for Yourself

One of the biggest perks of being a jewelry designer is the ability to create killer accessories for any outfit. If I see a dress that I'm dying over and can't stop daydreaming about, not only can I treat myself to it, but I can also create handmade one-of-a-kind jewelry to go with it. No need to shop around, find something that's in my style, compare prices, hem-and-haw...I can just sit down and make it myself. Your friends and family can all be jealous, it's ok.

Hampi Below Knee Dress (organic tissue cotton)
Over the years, one of my favorite Etsy clothing designers has been Gaia Conceptions. Andrea makes "eco chic apparel for the global nomad" using "certified organic and sustainable fabrics which have inspired simple, timeless, and ethical designs rooted in comfort and multifunction". Love? Love. I've got quite a few of her skirts and dresses and find myself wearing them all the time, including this one.

I've been experimenting with creating bezel-set stone earrings in sterling silver lately. Up until now I've just been making rings, but I'm now starting to branch out and create these designs for ears, not just fingers.

These picasso jasper stones went perfectly with the rusty orange of my dress, plus added some summery sage green and magenta - they remind me of a sunset in the desert. Simple, organic, full of energy and color, yet not overwhelming.

Sometimes I end up listing the jewelry I make for myself, and sometimes it ends up on the ~MINE~ jewelry stand. Hey, we've got to pay ourselves every now and then, right? :)

Happy Mid-week!

Fuschia Disc

Mix Polymer Clay Discs, beautiful Lampwork Headpins and a little bit of Sari Silk, wrap them all up in copper wire and this is what you get.

I'm finding myself using touches of Sari Silk in many of my new designs lately and I really love it. It just adds such a wonderful texture and dimension to all the other handmade bits and pieces.

I made the Polymer Clay Discs and the amazing headpins are by SueBeads.

These earrings are available HERE in my Etsy Shop.

Thanks for stopping by, I'd love to hear what you think of my new earrings!

Jet Set

I don't know exactly why, but these earrings make me think of jetliners and rocketships--old-timey rocketships out of a 1950s Flash Gordon episode. They're copper with sterling silver wirework (including hand-forged earwires), and little antiqued-silver-plated flower caps over foiled glass beads in fuchsia. I think they need a long, lean silhouette--maybe a drapey, old Hollywood silver screen-style gown like you might see Charlize Theron wear to the Oscars.

These earrings will be available in my Etsy shop later this week.
