Star Spangled Woman Stone Earrings

Star Spangled Woman was the title to a piece of art I once entered into a juried art show here in town. I think I won, or got second place... but I like the title so I am stealing it for this set!

Like most women in my field I have a lot of irons in the fire and a stack of things to do each day. Writing for the EE blog is one of my favorite "jobs" I do twice a month. Struggling to keep up this week and posting late today with a very short (and sweet?) post!

These earrings were just born yesterday. Originally with more beads and much longer. I decided they were going to be too heavy. I snipped, snipped the wire into the recycled silver bowl and "revamped" them into this shorter set. It's a hard thing to do. To clip that wire... but sometime it's for the best. I am proud of my work and cannot put forth something I am unhappy with. So, it's all good!

Created with natural found stones from WA state, Pacific Coast beaches, thick gauge pure (.999) silver wire, silver nugget star charms and over sized silver-nugget ear wires of .925 sterling silver.

Love this set, love how they came together, the rustic look, the stars (I love star motifs!) and the shape of the stones couldn't be more perfect.

Do you like this set? What strikes you if anything about their look? Love to hear what you think, good bad or ugly!

much peace and blessings...

P.S. Earrings will be up and available later today...

  1. what I love the most about them is the silver against the black, the matte against the shiny. I'm more of a staple earring girl, a pair that goes with just about anything and these would fit the bill. totally love them!!

    1. Good to know! I am so happy to hear these comments because I hadn't actually thought about these being monochromatic- but they definitely are. And maybe that's part of what is appealing to my eye too. But sometimes having another perspective really opens your eyes! Thanks so much Lynn! :-)

  4. I'm with everybody else, I love these earrings!! Those stones are gorgeous, did you drill them? I always love your stamped charms and these are beautiful as usual. You do such lovely work Cindy and we are very proud to have you as part of our EE team! :)

    1. Thank you Kristi! I am so very happy to be a part of the group too! Yes, I did drill these. I have found the stones- some will drill fine and other times it will break my drill bit! So, when I can get good clean (easy) holes on my stones- it's a great feeling! :-D Thank you!

  5. I love them too!! They make a great go-with-everything pair to have in the accessories wardrobe. Jeans, business suit, dinner out. Versatile. Versatile makes them a great buy, right? I think so. They're lovely. I give you tremendous credit for doing the drilling. I can't bring myself to try it yet. Soon, I say. . .

    1. Thank you Norbel! Ah, it's easy! Just go for it! Takes a bit of practice but start off with stones you don't care too much about at first. The trick is to go slow and steady, at least for me. :-)

  6. Good? They are yummy. I love the combination of the black with the silver. Your wire work is perfectly "messy" and your handmade charms are the best.
