Navigare Necesse

Today we have a guest poster on Earrings Everyday.
Debora Portela of Tribalis

In the first century BC, the Roman general Pompey encouraged afraid sailors to bring food from Africa to Rome during severe storms, inaugurating the phrase 'Navigare Necesse, non est vivere necesse' ( To sail is necessary;to live is not necessary). Since then others have used this sentence with different meanings, like Fernando Pessoa, Portugues poet which transforms it into a song of creation. Said him: ' I want to me the spirit of this sentence", confining the sense of his life to the process of artistic creation.
