All things Inviciti

Hello!

So I am busy busy busy, making lots of new things for a Facebook showcase over on The Jewellery Show on the 26th of this month. This will be my first showcase since November and I always get a little nervous, especially if I've had a gap. Will people like my new creations? Will anyone show up?! And if i take a break from making things, I always feel so rusty! Sometimes the creative spirit gets a bit....stuck...

So what's needed is some inspiration via post. And the wonderful Vincent & Nooma of Inviciti kindly obliged. They make the most beautiful pewter and painted charms, and a little package from them popped onto my doormat on Saturday and suddenly I was on a roll! Funny how that happens sometimes? How it can be so hard to create and at other times, it just flows?

So here's a group shot of everything together
Look at that gleaming pewter! So here's the first pair with some delicious lampwork by our very own super talented Kimberly of  Numinosity (by the way -have you seen her instagram feed? It's a visual feast! She has quite the eye for all things interesting, grungy and beautiful). Teamed these with some twisted silver plated rings and spacers and the Inviciti charms, of course.
The next couple of pairs have gorgeous lampwork nuggets by Maryse Fritz-Thillens. The first pair, a striking pinky purple colour, with silver plated spacers, co-ordinating czech glass and some silver-plated leaves too, just poking through the charms
Love these star charms. Just a few little twisted jumprings and spacers in this pair (possibly my favourites?)
And finally, keeping it simple with a little stack of Roman glass rondelles. Just love that these are ancient. Amazing to be able to wear a little bit of history in your lobes :-)
So that's me done for this month. All of these will be available over on The Jewellery Show on the 26th. Pop on over and say hello if you can. If they don't find a home there, they will be off to Utterly Lovely Stuff

See you next month

Easter, Twigs and Fringes

Easter time. School holiday. We've had a busy and nice week with excursions and meetings with friends and family. I made these earrings just last night. Twigs and Fringes.

Art beads:
Ceramic twigs - Donna Perlinplim

Other components:
Different coloured waxed linen cord
Messy wrapped oxidized copper wire
6/0 seed beads
Handmade oxidized copper earrings hooks

Now, as I sit here and write this blog post and watch the images I took earlier this morning, I realize I must have been subliminally inspired by the season of the year and the typically traditional Swedish Easter decorations of coloured feathers on twigs or tree branches. It wasn't at all what I thought about as I made them last night. Isn't that just fascinating how the mind works in lovely mysterious ways :-).

All my best,
Malin de Koning

Miners daughter wants to party

This post is a big thank you to the rest of the Earrings Everyday team members. All you wonderful, amazingly talented ladies are a great inspiration. With your designs you are pushing me to dare to step outside my very comfy creative box.
These earrings are my first attempt to a bit more of a grungy look. To be a bit more messy and to try to mix more different elements. They started out with the vintage brass links I had for some time now. They were just sitting there and I had just a vague idea what to do with them, but never did. Then my parcel from one of my favorite online bead shops Smitten Beads arrived. With the druzy beads and stick quartz. The perfect addition to the links.

In my first pair I combined the druzy beads with handmade lampwork beads from 4wanderinggypsies in a lovely wasabi and Swarovski Crystal. With handmade ear wires from my friend and bead artist Lucy Haslam (Faerystones).

In my second pair I combined the stick quartz with handmade lampwork glass beads in white, turquoise and teal (Bulibeads), Swarovski crystal and handmade ear wires from Lucy.
I am very pleased how these turned out and I still have more brass links and stick quartz to play with.
What do you think, successful attempt or not?
Thank you for looking. And thank you so much lovely team members for your inspiration and your support! I am so happy to be part of this team.

Geo Feather

Geometric feathers of polymer clay are paired together with copper and brass jump rings. The rings are accented with glass o-rings in bronze.

Like a comfy pair of jeans, these could easily become a go-to favorite when you need just a touch of boho charm.

Bohemian Fringe

These earrings took quite a bit of time because the design was in my head but just took awhile to come to fruition. I love them though and plan on making a pair for myself in silver and turquoise. They are quite dramatic and sexy at four inches in length!

They would look fab with this ensemble found on Pinterest. Original source unknown.

You will find these earrings for sale here and many other pieces on my website

Thanks for stopping by and have a great weekend!

Butterfly Wings

Light
delicate
precious
fragile
renewal
rebirth
hope

I love the symbols of butterfly wings. I'm slightly obsessed lately.

I created these earrings using my butterfly wing beads, each color is a different layer of polymer clay in the design. The perfect charms to compliment my wing beads are these peachy colored enameled butterflies by Gardanne Beads.

I made the earrings to go with this boho butterfly necklace that is featured in a fun blog hop I'm hosting today.

Both will be available on my website later day.

Beach Girl

The weather is changing here in WA state. They say we will be in the 80's later this week. My inspiration keeps turning to spring and even summer. Everything is SO green... and bugs are coming out again. This will be our first summer with our new (rescue) dog Molly. She cracks me up the way she chases bees and pretty much anything that flies. One of these days, I'm afraid she will catch one...

One of my first jewelry stamps - the dragonfly. I think I've only used it twice before. I'm really pleased with how these earrings turned out. I feel like the Iolite with it's royal blue color invokes images of tall blue Iris flowers... and the dragonflies buzzing about...

Rustic Raindrops

Rustic Raindrop Earrings

Faceted Czech glass English cut beads and nuggets stacked atop one another to form these Rustic Raindrop earrings. I like the contrast of the opaque nuggets, swirled with hints of green and lavender, against the translucent moss green luster finished glass with its aged look. Aside from being my metal of choice, copper always looks spectacular with green!

I see my Rustic Raindrop earrings being worn with a casual dress or jeans and a sweater.

Tide Pools

Watery blues and tawny yellow are captivating in these beautiful lampwork focals from Leah Deeb. I have added transparent smoky blue etched lampies from Yvonne Johnson, and copper accents to finish the design.

To Outdo A Gypsy!

Did you know that in the gypsy culture they are always trying to outdo one an another? For example, if one gypsy girl had shall we say earrings? that measured 4 inches long and had 10 diamond filigrees on each earring, the next gypsy girl would get 5 inch earrings with 14 diamond filigrees on each earring and Swarovski crystals at the end... and so on and so on...
Well I am OK with that! I love to make these large and long gypsy earrings! They are fun and full of elegance and whimsy! The crystals on these are Montana Blue, but any other colour is doable if you want something with more bling!  I change them up as you have seen if you follow this blog. I have a large variety of them since they are one of my top sellers!

You can find these in my Etsy shop. I don't think I have much left other than these, but hope top change that this week.
Feel free to request your own gypsy style earrings, I can create something special just for you!!

Stop by again soon!

Bohemian?

Bohemian See Glass Earrings with Copper

"To take the world as one finds it, the bad with the good, making the best of the present moment—to laugh at Fortune alike whether she be generous or unkind—to spend freely when one has money, and to hope gaily when one has none—to fleet the time carelessly, living for love and art—this is the temper and spirit of the modern Bohemian in his outward and visible aspect. It is a light and graceful philosophy, but it is the Gospel of the Moment, this exoteric phase of the Bohemian religion; and if, in some noble natures, it rises to a bold simplicity and naturalness, it may also lend its butterfly precepts to some very pretty vices and lovable faults, for in Bohemia one may find almost every sin save that of Hypocrisy. ..."

"His faults are more commonly those of self-indulgence, thoughtlessness, vanity and procrastination, and these usually go hand-in-hand with generosity, love and charity; for it is not enough to be one’s self in Bohemia, one must allow others to be themselves, as well. ...
What, then, is it that makes this mystical empire of Bohemia unique, and what is the charm of its mental fairyland? It is this: there are no roads in all Bohemia! One must choose and find one’s own path, be one’s own self, live one’s own life."

Festival

I've been wanting to make some components with lots of holes for lots of bead and wire wrapping, this is one of the first pair and I made one for myself!
I created the shape and the tribal texture and added lots of holes along the bottom edge!

The beautiful little minty green Chrysophrase heishi worked so well with the copper.
Very Ethnic and Festive, perfect for the upcoming Holiday Season
