Vintage Velocipedes

Hi there, I hope you are all having a great summer whereever you are in the northern hemisphere, and a great winter if you are in the southern. I myself have been enjoying cosy day excursions so far, and sitting on the veranda in my back garden. Later in the summer I will be going away on a little trip to the south of Sweden.

Bicycling has always been a favourite thing of mine. As a child and teenager it was my major method of transport most of the year. If the temperature was more than 5 degrees Celsius that is. I could easily bike more than 20-30 km a day just to get to different places. I would still bike every day today if I could, but unfortunately since a few years back I have too much balance problems due to MS. I plan to get a tricycle for grown-ups though, in a not too far future. They are good, but a bit pricey, so I hope to get a contribution from a fund for people with MS.

Check out those old style bicycles on the earrings I made. High wheelers or penny farthings. They are super cool don't you agree.

Swedish Druzy

Check out those wonderful druzy beads i got just the other day. I wanted to showcase them with all their glitter and exciting shapes. Hang them just simply from a great looking thin chain with some messy wrapping, and have them dangling a lot when being worn.

Ingredients:
Blue and yellow/gold druzy crystal nuggets with electroplated coating
Messy wrapped oxidezed copper wire
Verdigris patinated copper chain by MissFickleMedia
Handmade oxidized copper earring hooks

And some extra info:
My earrings are extra suitable to wear on a day like this. As today, the 6th of June, is the Swedish National Day. And the Swedish flag is blue and yellow. Below a very typical view from the countryside of Sweden on a beautiful summer's day. We do love our flag.

Going to the Art Gallery

I was looking for a statement quality in these earrings. Large and bold, not to be missed when being worn. Kind of the opposite of discrete. They are long, with a cluster of beads and components in different materials. Still surprisingly lightweight (due to the materials used). I personally would wear them when going to an opening night at an art exhibition :-).

Art beads:
Orange-red flower patterned porcelain charms - RoundRabbit
Leaf shaped hammered and soldered copper dangles - MissFickleMedia

Other ingredients:
African brass beads with swirl pattern
Yellow facetted cat eye beads
Green seed beads
Green vinyl beads
Dark transparent blue with golden coating long facetted drops
Oxidized brass findings
Handmade brass earring hooks

All my best,

Hello

Hello,
Friday night I went to see Adele live here in Stockholm. Of course it was a totally amazing show. And  she managed to make the atmosphere very intimate despite the size of it all. Around 32 000 audience, and she said it was the largest crowd she ever played for. Adele is really such a fantastic personality. A kind of a queen.

And Saturday the king of Sweden was celebrated big for his 70's birthday. I am not a royalist as such, but still all media is totally covering the event, so you can't really escape it. Tv was broadcasting all day from the festivities in central Stockholm. And it is fun to for instance watch all the beautiful clothing of the royalties and important people of the world. Especially the women's clothing of course.

So, how has these two events inspired me this time? Well ... not at all to be honest. I am still making the same kind of jewelry I am so fond of making. In a style I like to call Classy Bohemian. Sometimes I make more classy. Sometimes more bohemian, (like the earrings I show you here for instance). Almost always I include at least one set of handmade art beads, often more. Every piece of jewelry I make is unique, one of a kind. A little dream of mine is however if the crown prinsess Victoria would wear my jewelry one day. Or why not Adele, or some other music star.

Ingredients from bottom up:
Patinated hammered copper rings - MissFickleMedia
Copper hearts with a stripy structure - DaisyChain (I do miss your bead and component shop Joanne!)

Verdigris patinated bead caps
Wooden carved beads
A selection of different beads in different materials and colors. Ethnic glass, bone, greek clay, vinyl, rubber and so on.
Crowned by a lovely pinkish red swarovski bicone

Oxidized copper wire
Handmade earring hooks in oxidized copper

Above Adele. (Photo taken by my daughter Arabella at the concert.)

Below our crown princess Victoria in the middle, in an outfit from H&M. Always supporting Swedish design.

All my best,

Stones And Swarovski

Hi everyone, I hope the beginning of the new year has been kind to you so far. Here in Sweden it's been cold and lots of snow.

Do you remember my latest post here, when I told you about the wonderful gift of stones and pebbles that I got from a friend of mine. Well, here's another pair of earrings made with another couple of stones from that lot. This time I've combined them with Swarovski crystals. Which probably surprises those of you who are familiar with my style. You haven't seen me use Swarovskis very often, have you. But in my bead stash I have a rather large collection of them in different colors and sizes. I haven't actually bought most of them myself, but received in different collaborations in the past. I keep them all together in a box, because I haven't known what to do with them. But, anything odd or uncomfortable challenges me creative wise, so lately I've been thinking more and more about ways to incorporate them in my jewelry.

I am rather pleased with the result. However it was difficult for me to capture the sparkle of the swarowskis in a photo. I hope you get the idea anyway. When you wear them and they dangle they constantly and beautifully catches light from different angles. Makes them rather suitable for a party or a night out in my mind.
