Tin Moon Madness

Hello, my Beady Friends!
Happy September!  My workshop is in full Halloween mode now!

I happened to find this Chocolate tin from at least 20 years ago in one of my nightstand drawers.  It was given to me long before I started making jewelry, so until a few days ago, it was just a cute tin box.  But now, I'm looking at through new eyes!

I put my disc cutter to work and began to punch out as many discs as possible, not wasting one bit of this adorable tin.  For this design, I'll just be using the large stripe discs and will save the spooky eyes for another day.

The lovely enameled bats are by Israeli bead artist, Pearly Karpel.

Thanks for stopping by to see what's happing on my worktable today!  I'm excited about Autumn and looking forward to digging deep into all kinds of Halloween designs for the next couple of months!

Unfinished Projects

I made one of these earrings a few weeks back, loved how it turned out.  We all know how time consuming it is to make an item where you design it as you go along. I think I spent several hours creating the first earring. I made the second earring, it was almost finished.  I was rather chuffed with myself until I realised I'd used black thread instead of grey.  I couldn't face re-making the component in that sitting. So off it went in my 'box' of unfinished items.  I think we all have quit a few of these 'boxes' lying around in our studio.
I always make my blog post earrings last minute.  So I looked through my 'unfinished projects boxes' and came across these. I was ready to finish them.  I hope you like the finished pair.

Beautiful enamels by Annet Riabukhina hang from my beadwoven squares.

That's all for today.   See you soon.

Flutterby

Thinking about Spring in January gets me through the winter!

So, how do you like these flirty-girls?  Aren't they sweet?!!

I picked out these lovely vintage petal-shaped sequins from Andrew Thornton and William Jones of Allegory Gallery last summer (they still have them in stock, FYI).  I also purchased them in pink and yellow but my studio seems to have swallowed them up whole and I can't find them at the moment! *sigh

The top Robin's-egg blue, rustic enamel flower wheels, were made by Susan Kennedy of Suebeads.

Transparent sequins in mint green with a lovely pastel iridescent cast.  The quality of vintage sequins is wonderful.

The beautiful pod-like handcrafted enamels were made by Anne Gardanne.

On darker backgrounds and/or in a certain light, the pinks show up! This photo shows all the layers fanned out. When it is worn it hangs straight down.

Well, thank you for stopping by and seeing what I've been up to!  I'll be back in a couple of weeks :)

All the supply resources are linked with the names of the artist or shop.

Cheers!

Happy New Year

Hello lovely earring friends,
First of all I wish you all:

I hope you all have enjoyed a wonderful Christmas and New Year's Eve.
We were in Greece, going for some hikes in the mountains. The weather was perfect, sunshine and 20 degrees Celsius (in the sun, without wind).
And I finally had time to make jewelry, in preparation of my shows in February. Yep, I need to prepare that much time ahead, as January is always a very busy month in my daytime job, with all kinds of deadlines. And I will have an exam in February and an assignment I need to finish end of January.

So, I made a couple of earrings with these beautiful polymer clay charms I have been hoarding for some years. They are made by Alison Page Studios. She now mainly focuses on enamel, copper and wood.

Here I combined them with lampwork glass beads made by Mermaids Glass. I am very pleased how these turned out.

In the next pair I combined them with lampwork glass beads made by 4 Wandering Gypsies. I am not sure if they make beads anymore.

That's it for my this month.

Some blue earrings

Hello, hello, hello wonderful earring-loving friends,
How are you doing? Has winter arrived at your part of the world? Currently I am back in the Netherlands, and it is getting cold. Next week we will return to Greece and I am looking forward to sun and warmer weather.

My apologies for my absence in November. A lot is going on: very busy in my daytime job and I have started a new course in Tax Law. I guess I was afraid I would get bored LOL. And I started venturing into art journaling, painting and altered bookmaking. There just aren't enough hours in a day.

My earrings for today are blue, hence the obvious title. I always have a hard time coming up with original titles for blog posts.

These fun earrings have lots of movement and are made with some gorgeous polymer clay spike charms, made by the multi talented Sue-Lin Tarnowski, I was able to get my hands on and have been hoarding for quite some time. I combined them with amazing lampwork glass beads made by the wonderful Karin Hruza

Dream

Hello lovely earring friends,

A bit later than usual, but here is my post for today.
I so love the work of Helena Benkoczka. She is not only a lovely lady but also a very talented artist. Her polymer clay beads and charms are whimsical, colorful and just beautiful. She also creates wonderful faux tin components. And of course, I could not contain myself and had to buy some.

These gorgeous charms put me in a very romantic mood, which is a rarity lol. I layered the charms on brass links in which I wire wrapped some Czech flowers. The white polymer clay roses are made by Ira Vorobets. Some Czech glass beads compete the design.

Layering

Hello lovely earring friends,

First of all, my apologies for missing my post in the first week of September. It was my first work week after my holiday and well, what can I say, I just completely forgot about it.

The earrings I like to share with you today were made for my last earring show. I love vintage beads, especially flower beads and bead caps. Layering them meant I could even use more LOL.

Layered vintage resin and enameled beads and bead caps and gorgeous lampwork glass beads made by Karen Kordan.

Here combined with delicious polymer clay beads made by Elaine from TooAquarius.

Discs

Hello earring friends, happy August 15.
At the moment we are actually on holiday. A proper holiday YAY. We are staying in a small mountain cabin, an hour drive away from the massive tourism on the campsite, where we normally live. And I brought my beads with me. Well, part of my stash, as there couldn't fit more in the car LOL. So basically I have created my own bead retreat. And I am so happy to finally have time to play with my beads for a complete day. A complete week.  Better still: two weeks.....
Most people we encounter think we are always on holiday, living partly in Greece and partly in the Netherlands. I wish this was true. Yep, we are living in a "holiday" country, in a camper on a campsite. But we both have a daytime job as well.

In the stash I brought with me I am rediscovering all the treasures I have been hoarding for quite some time. Having remade the disc earrings two weeks ago I came across a complete treasure trove of disc (and other) beads made by Debbie Sanders. I so admire and love her beads and craftsmanship. And what do you know... they go perfect with the gorgeous polymer clay beads made by Cindy Hinds.
What do you think?

These will be available in my coming Jewelry show on Saturday on Facebook.

Evolution

Hi lovely earrings lovers,
How are you all doing? Any holiday plans? We will go to a tiny house in the mountains this month. It is just a 45 minutes drive from the campsite where we live but it makes a huge difference. Cooler and most of all.....quiet.The campsite is always extremely busy during the month of August. I will take a large portion of my beads with me, so it will be a sort of bead retreat for me :)
Ok, what do I have to show you today? Evolution of an earring pair. Well, that's what I like to think, I hope you feel the same when you see this.
When a piece of jewelry doesn't sell (or I don't like it) I take it apart and create something new with the components. That's what I did with these glass discs made by Debbi Sanders.
This is the first attempt, back in 2015(!):

Combined with lampwork glass head pins from Linda Newnham and vintage lucite.
My second attempt from 2018:

The design was getting better, but I still wasn't too happy about it.
So I took these apart last May and made my last design:

Combined with lampwork glass beads from Lesley McIver, Czech glass and ear wires made by Lucy Haslam. And I am totally happy with these. You know, when you are in "the zone", the pieces seem to design themselves. That's what happened here. What do you think? You prefer the last design or rather one of the previous ones?

Bells

Hi lovely earrings lovers,
Today (well, this week, ok, maybe the past few months...) I have been engrossed in my daytime numbers work. Since last year I am the proud co-owner of a small accounting and coaching firm, me being responsible for the finance & accounting part of our clients. That means not much time for creating anymore. So, I almost forgot about my blogpost today. Suddenly I realized... wait, isn't it Thursday today? Ehh, the first Thursday of the month? Oh my goodness...blog post.., new earrings.., pictures... Luckily, I made these earrings a while back for my show next week.

Bell shaped ceramic beads by Nadia, ceramic drops by the one and only Petra Carpreau, ear wires from Lucy Haslam and some other bits and pieces.

I hope you like them. These will be available in my show next week on facebook.

flower power... well, sort of

Hello Earring friends,

How are you all doing? Hubby and I are in Germany for a couple of days. He needs to go to a big 4x4 exhibition for his work and I will be driving hem from our airbnb to the show and back again, cook and do my daytime job of course. I am so happy I can work from anywhere in the world, as long as I have a good internet connection. I just log in to the main computer at our office and I am good to go.
With all the deadlines going on, I did manage to squeeze in some time to make these earrings.

Gorgeous art tiles made by Janice Everett with a lovely paisley print in beautiful colors, lampwork glass beads by Chet, ceramic bead caps, Swarovski crystal, aquamarine and a flower bead.

These will be available in my next show on Facebook (July 10).

Tutti Frutti

Hello friends, how are you doing?
Hopefully much much better than I, as I have been ill for the last few days.
So, I am going to keep this post nice and short.

Beaded and Tyvek beads by me in delicious tutti frutti colors. The colors are far more brighter than in the picture, apologies for the bad lighting. Oh yes, ear wires are by me as well :)

Headpins and more

Hello, hello from a wet Holland
Last Tuesday we travelled  from a Sunny Greece to a wet and dreary Netherlands for work. Rain and gray skies. Luckily no snow and not as cold as it used to be.

Today I am sharing three pairs of earrings with you. All three made with beautiful handmade ceramic headpins. Even if my life depended on it, I cannot remember who the artist is. If you know who made these beauties, please mention her name in the comment, so I can give her proper credit.

I am still experimenting with ear wires and I have to say, I like the beaded ear wires a lot, they are wonderfully in flow with the rest of the design. What do you think?
These will be available in my jewelry show February 4.

Happy earrings

Hello, hello,
First of all I wish you all a happy, healthy and successful 2019, full of joy, laughter, butterflies and sunshine. I hope you enjoyed a wonderful festive season.

My first pair of earrings for this blog are made with bright, happy links made by the ever so talented and lovely Jana Bliznakova of Happy Fish Things. Her fun and happy beads and components always put a smile on my face. I kept the design simple, with matching beads strung on the "arms" of the ear wires, before making a loop to attach the bead.

Oops

Hi friends.
Yep, oops, that was what I thought some minutes ago. I completely forgot it was my turn today. But, luckily it is still Thursday...
My earrings today are not new but made for one of my shows on facebook this month. As I am not so into Christmas, they are not very Christmassy. But they have some sparkle :)

These are made with lampwork glass headpins from Jodia Elasia Schiavo, glass beads from Jennifer Powers and handmade ear wires by our own Lucy

Super duos

Ahhhh, the tiny little wonders of seed beads.
As you might know already I love to work with tiny seed beads. The colors, the shapes and sizes, they give endless possibilities.  When I find myself without inspiration I return back to bead weaving and bead embroidery. Somehow, working with the little ones relaxes my mind and brings back my mojo.
Here are two examples of earrings I made with beautiful lampwork beads made by Karen Kordan.
I found the basis for this design in this tutorial on youtube by Beadifulnights. I adjusted it a bit and it is really easy to make.

Here the lampwork beads have beautiful purple, blue and green hues. I paired them with iris black magatama's, super duo's in two colors pink, turquoise AB crystals and rose gold delica's. Of course with handmade ear wires by my friend Lucy Haslam.

The lampwork beads in these earrings have orange, yellow and brown hues with silver sparkles. I paired them with black super duo's, Swarovski diamond black AB crystals, topaz Delica's and ear wires by Lucy.

These will be available in my show on Facebook on December 3 :)

Colorful

Hello lovelies,
How are you today? I am back in the Netherlands for work and I miss the Greek sun already. Here the skies are gray, with sometimes a bit of rain. This weather calls for colorful earrings. And what better way than create some with those wonderfully colorful, funky, bright earring charms made by the uber talented  Helena Benkoczka from Areto. I combined them with bits and pieces and handmade ear wires of Lucy Haslam from Faerystones. Lightweight, colorful and fun.

These will be available in my first show of this year in the facebook group The Earrings Show on October 1st. Hope to see you all there to join in the fun.
Wishing you all a wonderful day full of laughter, flowers and butterflies.
See you next month.
Thanks for looking and you know I love to read your comments so don't be shy and leave some words.
