My Little Spitfires

Ever since I got these hot little spike headpins from Claire Lockwood (a while ago now) my mind has been doodling.  You know how it is with art bead headpins - once you start wrapping, the commitment is REAL- no turning back!  So they sat on my work table for quite a while until I was sure of the design.

The small bone skulls are primitive and in perfect proportion to the spikes.

I wire wrapped some itty-bitty Charlotte Beads onto a wire form by Joan Moritz Langmo, turning her pretty sweet flowers into flames of love....Muahahahaha!

Happy Valentine's Day
to my
spitfire beady peeps!

Headpins and more

Hello, hello from a wet Holland
Last Tuesday we travelled  from a Sunny Greece to a wet and dreary Netherlands for work. Rain and gray skies. Luckily no snow and not as cold as it used to be.

Today I am sharing three pairs of earrings with you. All three made with beautiful handmade ceramic headpins. Even if my life depended on it, I cannot remember who the artist is. If you know who made these beauties, please mention her name in the comment, so I can give her proper credit.

I am still experimenting with ear wires and I have to say, I like the beaded ear wires a lot, they are wonderfully in flow with the rest of the design. What do you think?
These will be available in my jewelry show February 4.

Thank you so much for looking and your support for Earrings Everyday :)
And you know I love to read your comments, so don't be shy and leave some words.
See you in the beginning of February.N
Wishing you all a wonderful day, full of joy, laughter and singing birds.

Rustic reds

Last weekend I had the good fortune to meet up with some of my very favourite jewellery people Petra CarpreauKimberly Rogers and Claire Lockwood. Well, now a fine time was had by all! And I was showered with beady goodness too (thanks guys!)

Had a tough time choosing what to make from my stash of goodies for this blog, but I finally settled on using a pair of Claire's beautiful ceramic headpins. Something about the colour -a gorgeous deep red which seems appropriate for the season -all the reds and oranges that are around as Autumn approaches.

So I had some rustic oxidised copper hoops by French artist,  Carole Pons Torres  and as I love a hoop, these had to be incorporated! I like the way they frame the headpins. Something a little bit gothic about them. Just right, in the run up to Halloween

Finally, some deep red picasso seed beads, combined with some African silver coloured spacers.

I'm listing them here  Hope you like them! See you in a couple of weeks x

Solstice Star Shining

I am not usually one to make seasonal or holiday themed beads or jewelry but this construction presented itself to me and evokes a star, the Star of Bethehem or the  returning light of the solstice.
It's the colors of my winters past in Alaska, the blues of the sky and the white of the snow with the magical crystallized sparkle of the ice crystals.

I had spotted these wonderfully organic headpins the first time when Russian artist Nadya of Latirus had posted them on Creative Bead Chat. What better way to welcome a new component maker than to buy her pieces.
What I noticed first when I received her headpins in addition to their delicate and organic beauty was that the headpin wire was a finer gauge than I am accustomed to working with. It's strong enough being the nichrome wire that has to hold up to the firing in the kiln with the clay.
But I realized I could use some of my extremely small holed beads that I normally am not able to use.
I rarely design earrings with my freshwater pearls so it was exciting to  put some to use.
I love this abstract star shape and used a few sparkly Swarovski crystals to highlight the design.
I was super pleased with this dainty pair of lightweight earrings that could be worn any time of year  but seem especially fitting for this month of celebrating  the return of the light.

Thanks for looking at my NuminosityBeads Creations!

Coral Spike Earrings

A friend and I recently went to a gem and bead show.  I didn't really need any new beads, but I was looking forward to spending the day with my friend.  I did try to exercise some restraint, but of course I did not leave empty handed.
So for today's earrings, I wanted to use some of my newly purchased treasures.  The wooden beads were inexpensive and had nice grooves all around.  I think the beads below the wood beads are made of bone, but I'm not sure.  The minute I saw them I knew they'd be an ideal shape and size for earrings.
The fabulous textured spikes were made by Marsha Neal. The coral colored spikes really make the dots on the bone beads pop.
I'd love to pair these earrings with this pretty outfit.  The colors would be perfect together!  The Ceramic Spike Earrings can be found in my shop, here:  https://www.LindaLandig.com
