Purple Please

I recently received a lovely, large gift of beady goodness from Monica Pena of Mariposa Originals. Contained within the package were a gorgeous pair of lampwork beads. I was so inspired to use them right away. Just look at all the yummy swirls of color in the glass. Swoon!

I paired them up with my ceramic Ferris Wheel components and it was a match made in heaven! I used some purple and blue metallic hexagon beads in the middle. They flash in the sunlight.

Lastly the earrings have some Bali silver beads and spacers sprinkled throughout. Shout out to Monica for generously sharing her stash with so many others. 💓 The Purple Please earrings are available in my shop now.

Turquoise Trio

A Facebook friend asked me to make some turquoise earrings for her niece. She said they should be under 1.5 inches long and be made with Sterling silver. Other than those two guidelines, she said I should make whatever I wanted to. Since I'd never met either her or her niece, it was impossible to know what style of earring the young woman would want. So I ended up making three pairs and letting my Facebook friend choose the pair that she thought would be best suited for her niece. Here's what I came up with.

This is the pair of earrings which were chosen. The disc shaped beads are Peruvian opals. Such a lovely milky turquoise! I placed Bali silver spacers beneath the opals and between the opals and the lampwork beads by Paradise Beads. I then topped the earrings with sterling silver beads. Unfortunately this is the only photo I took, before sending the earrings to their new home.

The other two pairs of earrings are in my shop now. I like all three pairs of earrings, but I think this pair is my favorite. They feature lovely hammered Sterling silver hoops with dangles of turquoise "cathedral" beads that are coated in silver on the tops and bottoms. I placed small embossed Thai Hills Tribe beads beneath the cathedral beads.

The last pair of earrings features the most wonderful, shimmery turquoise beads by Sue Beads. I can't stop admiring these lampwork beads. A photograph really can't do them justice. I used the same Sterling beads at the bottom of these earrings, as I used on top of the first pair. Then I topped them with some beautiful Sterling bead caps and more of the embossed Thai Hill Tribes beads.
So there you have it - a Turquoise Trio.  Which pair would you choose?

The Colours of a Rainbow

I have one new pair of earrings to show you all today as I was busy all week preparing for a components show at the weekend. I felt like making a very bright pair and came across these beautiful glass feather components by Bea Stoertz. Then, looking through my colourful lampwork collection to find the perfect beads, these by Régis Teixera screamed out at me. I just added a few extra touches with the bead caps and spacer beads, a bit crazy I know but a perfect combo I think. What do you think?

They will be available in my FB show later this week and this is the link to my group - Nicola Morse Jewellery & Components.

Textures of porcelain

I have a love of wildlife and quite often I like to use birds in my designs. These two pairs of earrings feature porcelain components by Emma Wilson and both have a bird theme. I just love the detail and texture as well as subtle colours in Emma’s organic designs. Her pieces are small and dainty so I feel require a delicate and sympathetic touch when designing with them.

For this first pair of earrings I have used Emma’s components with a bird design and chose to highlight the pink/red colours with lampwork spacers and headpins by Linsey Peck as well as using a hint of gold with the seed beads and bead caps. The bronze ear wires are by Louise Goodchild.

For the next pair I have used Emma’s fan shaped components that have an Art Deco feel about them and thought that these adorable lampwork birds by Juliette Mullett would fit perfectly. Again, I have matched the pink and blue colours with lampwork spacer beads and some shimmery textured Czech glass daggers that reflect both colours. Then I've finished off with brass/gold colour bead caps. The ear wires are gold filled.

Thank you for reading. Both pairs are available in my FB group as from today - Nicola Morse - Jewellery & components

Super duos

Ahhhh, the tiny little wonders of seed beads.
As you might know already I love to work with tiny seed beads. The colors, the shapes and sizes, they give endless possibilities.  When I find myself without inspiration I return back to bead weaving and bead embroidery. Somehow, working with the little ones relaxes my mind and brings back my mojo.
Here are two examples of earrings I made with beautiful lampwork beads made by Karen Kordan.
I found the basis for this design in this tutorial on youtube by Beadifulnights. I adjusted it a bit and it is really easy to make.

Here the lampwork beads have beautiful purple, blue and green hues. I paired them with iris black magatama's, super duo's in two colors pink, turquoise AB crystals and rose gold delica's. Of course with handmade ear wires by my friend Lucy Haslam.

The lampwork beads in these earrings have orange, yellow and brown hues with silver sparkles. I paired them with black super duo's, Swarovski diamond black AB crystals, topaz Delica's and ear wires by Lucy.

These will be available in my show on Facebook on December 3 :)

Thank you so much for looking and your support for Earrings Everyday :)
And you know I love to read your comments, so don't be shy and leave some words.
See you in two weeks.

Wishing you all a wonderful day, full of joy, laughter and tiny little wonders,

Sister Earrings

Hi, everyone!  It's good to be back.

First, let me thank Norbel, who covered my last blog date at the last minute.  I really appreciate it, my friend! 💓

I've always loved the idea of "sister" jewelry:  pieces that resemble each other but aren't the same.  I hadn't made any sister anythings in a while...but then, about a month ago, I bought these exquisite rainbow leaf earring components from Kristi Bowman Gruel:

From a strand of four beads (by one of my favorite glass artists, Beth Mellor of Beeboo) I picked two that would be perfect with the leaves:  beautiful little round-edge cubes with colorful swirls and teal blooms. They would make a gorgeous pair of earrings.  So I made them, adding some copper beads, Czech glass rondelles, and Swarovski crystals:

These sold quickly (thank you, dear lady!), but I didn't forget that I still had two more of those wonderful floral beads.  Two or three weeks later, Kristi had another show, and I found leaf components that resembled the original leaves.

I used different copper accents for these new earrings, making them more airy, and they're also a bit longer and more slender than their sisters.

These "sisters" are clearly separate designs, but they're definitely family!

Thanks for reading!  xoxo

Blue Elegance

One of my favorite lampwork artists is Sue Kennedy of Sue Beads.  I have a large collection of her lampwork glass beads, beaded beads and enameled jewelry components.  Clearly she is a multi-talented artist.  So for today's earrings, I am featuring some of Sue's lampwork glass bicone beads.

I hung them from some sterling silver double hoops and accented them with Bali silver dangles. I've always loved the combination of blue and silver.  That color combination just sings! I think these earrings would be great for occasions that called for a bit of elegance.

The Blue Elegance earrings are available in my shop, Linda Landig Jewelry.

Hydrangea

Hello lovely earring fans. I hope you are enjoying a wonderful end of summer. Here in Greece we still have warm weather so we can still swim and enjoy the sun. My apologies as I have to keep this post short. I am a bit running behind with my work.
These earrings are a bit shorter than my usual style. The inspiration were the gorgeous lampwork glass beads from Into the Fire. Half of the set was etched for me on request. I think they turned out  beautifully.

They are combined with Czech glass flowers in a beautiful blue. The colours in the lampwork and Czech glass beads make me think of Hydrangea which I love. Of course with wonderful handmade antiqued copper ear wires made by Faerystones.

These are available in my shop. Thank you so much for looking. We here at Earrings Everyday love to read your comments, so don't be shy and write a few words. We appreciate it! See you in a couple of weeks.

Wishing you a wonderful week full of joy, laughter, sunshine and flowers.

An Introduction

Let me introduce myself. I'm new on the Earrings Everyday team but some of you may know me primarily from my component shop NuminosityBeads.

My name is Kimberly Rogers and I also love to make jewelry too, especially earrings. My love of making earrings took me down the path to becoming the lampworker and torch fired enameler that I am today. In the early beginnings of my jewelry making journey I wanted to make some of my own components in order to add a little something totally my own to my designs. I became so hooked on that process that I decided to offer those design elements to other designers that are looking for organic and sometimes crusty components to their designs. I found out that there were a few of you out there that shared that earthy aesthetic as well.

Part of my creative process is trying to come up with new and unique components to share with others yet retaining a touch of my numinositybeads imprint and recognizable style as a jumping of point for others.
"Gasconade"
The enamel pieces used in these earrings were my own twist  from an experiment with torch fire enameling on old vintage tin children't tea set plates that were too rusty and crusty to be collectibles anymore.
I added a small triangle of some dyed salmon skin leather that I had picked up during a visit to Chile.
any sort of leather could be used to soften and reinforce the tapered area of tin. I pnched a hole in the leather to match the tin hole and I used E6000 glue to glue the leather to the tin.

The springlike green lampwork beads with purple webbing seemed like a nice counterpoint to finish off these earrings.
I am especially fond of Faerystones "simples" earwires once the length of the earrings are established so as not to have them be too long .

Here is an example of an enameled tin pair that I have made.

You can look forward to more Earrings Everyday posts from me on the second and fourth Thursday of every month. I look forward to hearing from you!

Sutherland Earrings

I've had these earrings in my head for about a month now.  I intended to make them for the Art Jewelry Elements Components January Challenge, but I ran out of time.  So I am happy that I finished them and can share them here, finally.

The earrings proved difficult to photograph.  If you lay them on a horizontal surface (as in the picture below) then the dangly chain slinks off to the side.  When worn, they hang as in the picture above.
The lampwork glass beads, by Genea Beads, have swirling colors of jade green, tan and blue, with cream colored tops and bottoms.  The ceramic, dagger shaped dangles, by Suburban Girl Studio, have a gradient of colors from, light blue-green to jade, to a deep green-teal color on the tips. I added a little bit of decorative chain just for fun.
As I was admiring the colors in these earrings, I realized that they were the same blue and greens of Lake Sutherland, where my family used to vacation when I was in elementary school.  Its an alpine lake on the Olympic Peninsula, in Washington State.  If you woke up early in the morning, before the boats were out, the water was as smooth as glass and emerald green.  I was always my happiest and most peaceful self when I was at Lake Sutherland.
Isn't it cool that the colors can bring back such a flood of happy memories?  And its a great treasure to have memories that fill you with joy, even 50 years later.
Maple Grove Resort on Lake Sutherland, in the 1950's, when my family vacationed here.  Found this vintage photo in a Google search.

Slumbering Planet

Just before I began designing my earrings for today's post, I'd been reading about the lunar eclipse that occurred last night.
Slumbering Planet Earrings
I made the earrings and when it came time to name them, I must have still had the eclipse, space and planets on my mind.  The round lampwork beads started to look like satellite photos I'd seen of the earth at night, so I named them the Slumbering Planet Earrings.

The matte lampwork beads by Felicia Annie are really amazing.  The more you look at them, the more layers of swirling color you see, just like the many subtle shades one sees in night views of the earth.

The base color of the beads seems to be a blueish green.  There are also subtle swirls of purple, dark turquoise and a few bolder swipes of black.  They are really beautiful and they seemed to demand sterling silver, rather than my usual patinated brass.  I placed Swarovski crystals above the lampwork rounds and suspended some wavy lampwork from Unicorne Beads at the end of a bits of sterling chain.
I won't be placing these in my shop just yet.  I have a couple of shows coming up and I'm working on adding inventory.  They may show up in my shop later, though.

Did you get to see the lunar eclipse?  I'm writing this on Tuesday night and we're hoping the clouds will clear up so we can see it later this evening.

Thumbelina's Gypsy Caravan

Thumbelina's Gypsy Caravan
These delicious little pumpkin-hued keyholes are the first of my whopping big enamel stash from GardanneBeads. I am going to be making a lot of earrings with enamel elements!! After I had put these all together, they had a colorful gypsy feel to me, and made me think of an ornate, old-fashioned gypsy caravan.   A tiny one! With a wee door and keyhole. As if Thumbelina ran away to join the gypsies and they gave her her own little caravan....

Of course you must have a gypsy skirt to go with them:
Rust Cotton Gypsy Skirt at loveitsomuch.com
Be sure to visit Gardanne Beads for an eyeful of fabulous enamel and unique lampwork! Etched lampwork spacers in blue from Julie Miller Glass, and striped Indonesian glass beads and copper spacers from Happy Mango Beads.

Copper Leaves

Sorry, folks, I can't help it!  I have autumn on the brain and all I want to make are leaves!  I have been playing with my fold-forming skills and did some of these cute little leaves and decided to create these earrings. Artisan glass by Reghina of Birchtree Jewelry is flecked with sparkly golds, green & russet.

I'd like to wear them with this jacket...I mean, why not?  It's only $3,700!

Seriously Rusticly Perfect!

After missing about a month due to illness, I thought I would come back with a bang while I can and give you some serious eye candy!
I am IN LOVE with these disc beads! I got a bunch because I pictured a series of earrings made from them and when I started making them, they turned out exactly how I pictured them!! That never happens to me.
I had a vision of beautiful lampwork glass beads mixed with these rustic discs all wrapped in solid copper and then patinaed for this perfect combination!
I hope you will stop by my Etsy shop and see all 8 pairs! I am planning on making many more of these if my energy permits this week. Wait until you see all the wonderful colours these will come in!!

Thanks for stopping by!
