I always feel like spring is on the way when I see the first crocuses pushing up through the soil or peeking out from the snow. Spring flowers fill me with joy and hope (much needed these days).
The purple and yellow earrings I'm sharing this week remind me of the colors of these pretty, little crocuses. But they could also be reminders of purple Dutch irises, with their yellow centers or purple tulips with their vibrant yellow throats. All of these signal joy to me!
You probably recognize the polymer clay tube beads as being the work of Heather Powers, of Humble Beads. I paired them with hand enameled beads by Susan Kennedy of Sue Beads. I love the way the ribbing, in the metal beads, stands out as a contrasting texture. Buttery yellow ceramic floral bead caps and yellow faceted fire polish beads provide the accents.
Polymer clay is very lightweight and the enameled beads are hollow, so these earring are very comfortable to wear. You maybe thinking, "But who needs earrings now?" Well I have found that wearing a little handmade jewelry actually cheers me up a bit. There were a few of the early isolation days where I never got out of my PJs, but I still wore a blue stretch bracelet (hey, it matched my PJs, so why not?). I have resumed getting dressed daily and creating a normal daily routine, as much as possible. It helps. The Spring Crocus earrings can be found in my shop here.
I hope you and your loved ones are staying home and staying safe. Plus you are saving the lives of other vulnerable people, when you shelter at home. Hang in there and enjoy the spring flowers.

Flutterby
Thinking about Spring in January gets me through the winter!
So, how do you like these flirty-girls? Aren't they sweet?!!
I picked out these lovely vintage petal-shaped sequins from Andrew Thornton and William Jones of Allegory Gallery last summer (they still have them in stock, FYI). I also purchased them in pink and yellow but my studio seems to have swallowed them up whole and I can't find them at the moment! *sigh
The top Robin's-egg blue, rustic enamel flower wheels, were made by Susan Kennedy of Suebeads.
Transparent sequins in mint green with a lovely pastel iridescent cast. The quality of vintage sequins is wonderful.
The beautiful pod-like handcrafted enamels were made by Anne Gardanne.
On darker backgrounds and/or in a certain light, the pinks show up! This photo shows all the layers fanned out. When it is worn it hangs straight down.
Well, thank you for stopping by and seeing what I've been up to! I'll be back in a couple of weeks :)
All the supply resources are linked with the names of the artist or shop.
Cheers!
(I've been watching a lot of British Shows lately.. ♡)

Ears To You
My friend and fellow contributor on the Art Jewelry Elements Blog Susan Kennedy of SueBeads gave me permission to share this with all of you Earrings Peeps.
Thank you Sue!
In my last post, I wrote about the 7000 Bracelets For Hope charity. This time I'm going to tell you about Ears to You, in case you haven't heard about them!
Ears to You is a charity that accepts earring donations to give to people who have lost their hair due to chemotherapy treatment. Their mission is to lift the spirits of cancer patients by providing a moment of joy and hope.
I first heard of this charity from Amy Freeland from Copper Diem blog. She has been donating earrings to this charity for several years, and these were two of her donations.
I have also personally donated earrings to this cause, and you can too! Here are some guidelines from their web page and their address as well. Here's the link! I just found out you can donate hats as well!
Earrings
- All earrings must be lead and nickel-free. Anything that touches the ear must not have these metals in them.
- Earrings can be any style, size, color, design, etc. There are women and girls of all ages and preferences so the more variety we have, the better we can serve the patients who receive the earrings!
- If you are local to the Medina, Ohio area, we often host groups at the Potomac Bead Company to make earrings for Ears To You. It could be a make one, take one night- you pay a flat fee per person (around $10) and you make one pair of earrings to keep and one to donate to Ears To You. If you are out of this area you could do this at your local bead store too! Use our contact form to find out how to schedule this event.
- Please put earrings into a padded envelope or box and mail all donations to Ears To You, PO Box 190, Hinckley, OH 44233.
