Renaissance Windows

Hello, lovelies!  It's good to be back--it feels like it's been a while!  💗

The idea for the earrings I'm writing about today started quietly, when I found these beads at Arte Bella Surplus, one of my long-time favorite supply shops:

I didn't buy them for any particular project, but rather because I like window beads and because their cross-like shape reminds me of certain Renaissance (or Renaissance-style) earrings I've seen in photos and in museums.

Below are examples of variations of the same cross motif.  The first pair (left to right) is a simple quatrefoil shape, not unlike the window beads pictured above.  The second pair below also reflects the cross motif, in two ways:  with the petals and the pearls. And the third pair is obviously a cross. Each of these three examples also have a central focus where the arms of the "cross" would meet: the first pair has a tiny quatrefoil flower at its center, and white pearls sit at the centers of the other two pairs.

I had a beautiful pair of small rainbow Goddess charms by KristiBowmanDesign, and just for fun I laid them on my work table next to two of the blue-green window beads, and I had a feeling I might have something special.  💗

I added a pair of beautiful three-sided iris-colored Czech glass window beads, and small gleaming lights of glass and crystal.

Thanks so much for reading!
I'll be back again on September 12.

xoxo

A Kaleidoscope of Butterflies

A collective name for a group of butterflies is called 'Kaleidoscope'.
However others have called it 'Swarm' or 'Rabble'.
I think a Kaleidoscope suits these beautiful creatures don't you?

Dotty Peacock

Sometimes a particular component, in this case Lampwork Beads are so beautiful they need very little added to them to make gorgeous Finished Jewelry.

I think these amazing beads easily fit in to that category.

I simply added some AB coated Faceted Hematite beads, vivid Turquoise Glass Beads and pretty Faceted Purple Czech beads on top.
Done!!!

Leafy Stacks

These Copper Leaf Components are a little different than the leaves I usually make. Instead of a hole in the top I brought the sides around to create a little bit of a tunnel.

Then I went through all of my beads that had holes big enough to fit through and created these earrings.  I used cool Lampwork Rings made by Paradise Beads on the earrings above, also adding Freshwater Pearl buttons and touches of mixed metal by using tiny silver beads in 2 ways.
The above earrings are available HERE.

These leaves were actually the first pair I made, they are a bit larger and although I like them I'm not completely happy and I have an idea in my head to change them. So they will probably be taken apart and re-worked.

The smaller Leafy Components will be available during my next online show starting Saturday Feb 4th along with lots of other new painted components.

As always thanks so much for joining us here on Earrings Everyday!!!

Winter Solstice

I found a beautiful leaf during on of my recent walks and realized it's been some time since I've used natural leaf textures in my components so I decided it was time to make more. This is the first pair I made and I decided I need to throw some paint on them and see how it looks.

As soon as I put the first 2 colors on them, I immediately thought of these beautiful Lampwork Beads I had in my stash and they turned out to be a perfect match. I've added some faceted Labradorite rondelles and Druzy like beads on top and wrapped lots of messy Copper Wire around wherever I could.

Even though there is lots of color in these they have a very wintry quality so I had to give them a wintry name.
Winter Solstice!

Lampwork Beads by Paradise Beads.

And Happy New Year!

Winged Things

Some of you know I am a Bird Enthusiast and I also love Butterflies, Bees and Bats and any other Winged Things. Truth be told, I am a fan of Nature in general.

I've been wanting to create painted wings for some time and I finally found the right ones that would allow me to paint them and I've also recently been playing with Ice Resin. So the 2 have come together beautifully in these Blue Wing Earrings. I hope you agree!

These earrings available to purchase HERE

I'm making them in lots of different color combinations and they will be available in my next online trunk show. I hope you can join me HERE on Jan 6th. There will be lots of wings and much much more!

And I'll be giving away this Wing Pendant!

In the last few days, Lynn and Norbel have given you retrospectives of the past year. I've so enjoyed seeing all of their beautiful earrings and we will miss Lynn who has a very exciting 2017 coming up and we will miss her but we are so happy for her! But I decided to to look ahead at what's coming in the near future for me. I've had a rough few years and I'm dealing with a rather serious health issue at the moment. I think being able to stay creative has saved my sanity many times over. Rather than look back I definitely wanted and needed to look ahead at what's coming. I'm looking forward to getting past all of these lingering issues and being the healthiest I've been in many years in the new year.

Here's wishing everyone out there a wonderful and Creative New Year!! May your days be filled with Health and Happiness in 2017 and Beyond!! We are so very excited to have 2 new lovely ladies joining us here on Earrings Everyday. Thank you all for being with us along the way!!!
