Labradorite

Hello there.

Hopefully spring has arrived where you live. Currently I am in the Netherlands for my day-time job and oh boy, it is cold. Very, very cold. What a difference with Greece.

Remember these?

I love labradorite, it’s one of my favorite stones. I made this design a while back and got a bit bored by it. So, time for a make-over.

I think the new design had just that bit extra. What do you think?
Labradorite, amazonite, yellow ceramic bead caps, crown bead caps, tiny Swarovski crystals in fuchsia and my favorite ear wires made by my friend LucyHaslam of Faerystones.

Now available in my shop.
Thank you for looking and till next month. And you know it by now, I love to read your comments, so don’t be shy. Let me know what you think of the new design.

A do-over too

It seems Jetta and I are going through the same phase: rethinking old designs.
For me it has more or less to do with space. Storage space that is.
As most of you probably know me and hubby live in a truck, converted into a mobile home.

Which comes with limited storage space. Very limited storage space. You can imagine that this is not a good combination with my urge to hoard beads.
We live in Greece but often have to fly back to the Netherlands for our work. So, most of the time a great part of my bead collection is stored in our “bench seat” and I would only have a small working stock more easily accessible. Now you know the reason those cute ceramic bead caps pop up in almost all of my latest designs. A baggie of these is part of my working stock.

To have more choice in beads I periodically go through my stock of jewelry and make a selection of pieces which will need a re-do/make-over/re-think.

Here an example.
This older design was pretty, but didn’t actually sing. It was missing something.  Now I did have some beautiful lampwork glass beads left from an order the lovely Kate from Maya Honey made for me, for use in a very special bracelet for a very special customer.
And that’s what this design needed. And some colorful ceramic bead caps of course.

Thank you so much for looking. And you know it by now, I love to read your comments, so don’t be shy. Let me know what you think of the new design. And if you are an artist, do you re-do/make-over/re-think your designs sometimes?

Amazing amazonite

Hello folks.
I hope you are all enjoying good summer weather, hopefully a holiday already.
Here in lovely, sunny Greece my daytime job is currently wreaking havoc with my creative bead time. No playing with beads for me at the moment.
So I show you some earrings I made a while back. I think perfectly summery earrings.
With beautiful carved amazonite and handmade lampwork beads by Debbie Sanders. Debbie is making such gorgeous glass beads, please check her out.

Thank you for stopping by. These are now available in my shop.
We here at Earrings Everyday love love love to read your comments. So please, don't be shy and write some, also on the posts of my wonderful colleagues.
I wish you a wonderful day with lots of joy, sunshine and happiness.

Earrings and Inspiration

There are as many sources of inspiration as there are earrings created. Each pair has it's own story and original creative energy.

I find Pinterst to be a *great* source of inspiration. From design and fashion to a simple color concept. I tend to view color inspirations in vast categories. Meaning I don't just look at flowers for purple or sky photos for blue inspiration.

The great thing about Pinterst is that you can search a color or colors and it will show you everything under the sun and more!

Here is a glimpse of My "Color" board on Pinterest~

Sometimes just looking at the colors you want to incorporate is all that is needed.

A Walk In The Woods

I went to the woods
 because I wished to live
deliberately,
to front only the essential facts of life,
and see if I could not learn
 what it had to teach,
 and not,
when I came to die,
discover that I had not lived.
~ Henry David Thoreau

A Walk In The Woods

Inspired by my love for the blue/brown color combination.
These earrings feature a mix of glass, stone and pure silver
with a brushed-matte finish.
Long Czech glass beads have EARTHY variegated colors.
The pale blue Amazonite stone nuggets swing at the center of
RUSTIC brushed, pure silver hoops with a stamped design.

Chambray and Sunstone

One of my favorite things to wear is a chambray shirt. They are always in style, in the midwest anyway. A chambray shirt and jeans are my standard "uniform". This combo can be dressed up any number of ways, and never loses its casual appeal.

My earrings are sunstone and soft blue amazonite with patinated copper. The wires have been hammered and patinaed. Then I have wrapped a seed bead in African Sunset on each one for a punch of color. The earrings are fairly easy to make and have a simple rustic look, a great combination that is perfect with your favorite jeans.

Festival

I've been wanting to make some components with lots of holes for lots of bead and wire wrapping, this is one of the first pair and I made one for myself!
I created the shape and the tribal texture and added lots of holes along the bottom edge!

The beautiful little minty green Chrysophrase heishi worked so well with the copper.
Very Ethnic and Festive, perfect for the upcoming Holiday Season
