A do-over too

It seems Jetta and I are going through the same phase: rethinking old designs.
For me it has more or less to do with space. Storage space that is.
As most of you probably know me and hubby live in a truck, converted into a mobile home.

Which comes with limited storage space. Very limited storage space. You can imagine that this is not a good combination with my urge to hoard beads.
We live in Greece but often have to fly back to the Netherlands for our work. So, most of the time a great part of my bead collection is stored in our “bench seat” and I would only have a small working stock more easily accessible. Now you know the reason those cute ceramic bead caps pop up in almost all of my latest designs. A baggie of these is part of my working stock.

To have more choice in beads I periodically go through my stock of jewelry and make a selection of pieces which will need a re-do/make-over/re-think.

Here an example.
This older design was pretty, but didn’t actually sing. It was missing something.  Now I did have some beautiful lampwork glass beads left from an order the lovely Kate from Maya Honey made for me, for use in a very special bracelet for a very special customer.
And that’s what this design needed. And some colorful ceramic bead caps of course.

Now available in my shop.
Thank you so much for looking. And you know it by now, I love to read your comments, so don’t be shy. Let me know what you think of the new design. And if you are an artist, do you re-do/make-over/re-think your designs sometimes?

The best-laid plans

Hello lovely peeps,
How are you all doing? I hope you are enjoying wonderful weather. Here in Greece we had unusually cold and wet weather for the month of June. But summer has arrived. It is 9 AM and 30 degrees Celsius already.
And I have to apologize (again). You know how it works...you have a to-do list, you planned it all and well.....it didn't quite worked out the way you thought it would.
The reason why I wasn't able to make new earrings is a wonderful one, though. Friends from the Netherlands visited and we had a wonderful weekend together. Swimming, walking around Nafplio, having diner and wine, laughing, talking. They are on holiday here in Greece and for this weekend we were feeling like being on holiday as well. Just being lazy and spending time with friends.
So, my earrings for today are a pair I made in 2015.

It is a wonderful way of using left-over beads. Lots of movement and light weight.
Thanks for looking and I hope to see you in a couple of weeks. With new earrings!
Wishing you a wonderful day,
Janine

Vintage Green Bloom Earrings

In my last post I wrote about making beaded wire hoops above the earring dangles.  I'm still playing with that idea, as you can see in today's earrings.
The green flower drops are very unusual,  I've never seen anything like them before.  I bought them from a vintage bead vendor at Bead Fest last year.  They are flat on the back and have a little tab at the top, with a side to side hole through it.  The were quite expensive, but I'm pretty much hopeless when it comes to resisting really unique beads.
I topped the earrings with pretty pink lampwork beads from Paradise Beads.
While I'm not much of a pink color fan, I've always loved deep pink and bright green because it reminds me of camellias and their green leaves.
Camellia in our backyard.
The Camellia Earrings can be found in my shop.
