Short and sweet

Hello, hello,

This is going to be a short post about sweet earrings.
Reading the post from Chris and admiring her fabulous earrings with those amazing porcelain charms from Emma Wilson, I suddenly remembered...wait a minute...I am sure I bought some of Emma's charms...but where did they go...hmm perhaps this box...nope....ahh perhaps that box...nope...hmm I am absolutely sure I bought some...nope, not this bag...perhaps the next bag (by now it is complete chaos in our mobile home, the floor is covered in bags and boxes). But I found them! Whoop whoop. 

 I kept the design simple, with larimar chips in the same blue color as in the charms, Swarovski crystal rondelles and pinkish Swarovski crystal beads. With sterling silver ear wires made by Lucy Haslam.

Thank you Chris for jogging my memory and giving me inspiration to make these.

Funky Boho

I've been busy making polymer clay components last week for a show I had the past few days. I had lots of fun creating various components in a few different colorways, and the odd time, I come up with a shape I want to try just for fun.

I set these aside to make a pair of earrings for this blog post late in the evening (hence the artificial lighting - sorry!!). I wanted to make a different pair of earrings using a 'chandelier' type of component, but without making a 'chandelier' type design.

So this is what I came up with:

I couldn't resist using my favorite Swarovski crystal drops (in my favorite color to boot) since the color matched so well with the pink I used in my polymer clay design. The hints of coco brown, and the speckles of Gold metal leaf add just enough sparkle to my liking!

I've used some anodized aluminum rings in the colors that pick up the pink and gold, and some Tierra Cast hammer textured components at the top to add a quick touch of rustic sparkle. Small sparkling yellow/pink seed beads are wrapped in using copper wire on brass head pins.

Fun, funky... a little boho, a little different ;)

Longing For Colors

January. Where I live, in Stockholm Sweden, is very far north on our planet. We are on the same latitude as Alaska, Siberia and northern Canada (but our climate is much milder due to the golf stream). In the winter time we get very short days.  Oh, how I now long for brighter days, more daylight, sunshine ... and ... colors. Lots of colors. I really need it.

Holiday Sparkle

This is my last post this year so I thought I'd jazz it up a bit with some bling 💖💖💖. 

First up I have these featuring enamelled charms by Kaz Baildon.  I wanted to attach these rather large rhinestones to the charms but wasn't quite sure it would work because of the size and fear of damaging the enamel with the more robust wire wrapping needed in this case.  As you can see from the picture (below) it worked 😄. 

This pair was easier with much smaller rhinestones.  Ceramic drops by Petra Carpreau

Crystal Obsession _ Aquamarine Chandelier Earrings

In love with the sparkle of Swarovski crystals lately. I just can't get enough of the color and shine. It's been my main focus this past week or two. Paired with rustic brushed silver, I think they are the perfect complement to each other. I don't know why my crystals have been sitting in draws un-admired for years and suddenly they've got my attention. Feeling very inspired, as I said by the array of colors. And the sparkle of Swarovski is unmatched, IMHO. 

I am looking to expand this design into a few other sets of color combinations. However, my supply of these "cosmic" Swarovski crystals is very limited. Very.

 These earrings are handcrafted with pure silver. Hoops are torch fused and hand forged with a hammered texture. 

Drilled holes hold charms of Pacific blue Swarovski crystals, tiny, faceted, 3mm.

"Cosmic" beads are added in the shade of Crystal Golden Shadow. A lovely light sand color that reflects light like no other. Wrapped in 20 gauge thick pure silver wire with a rustic brushed, matte finish. 

And finally at the top are natural, pale blue Aquamarine gemstones.

Different Facets

Hello, I hope you are well. Here are my latest earrings. A combination of different facets. Sparkling happily when worn on the ear (even if I didn't manage to capture the swarowski sparkle in the photo).

Heavily oxidized copper wire 24G

Yellow thin vinyl discs

Vintage lucite beads reminiscent of hammered bronze

Swarowskis bicone crystals

Stones And Swarovski

Hi everyone, I hope the beginning of the new year has been kind to you so far. Here in Sweden it's been cold and lots of snow.

Do you remember my latest post here, when I told you about the wonderful gift of stones and pebbles that I got from a friend of mine. Well, here's another pair of earrings made with another couple of stones from that lot. This time I've combined them with Swarovski crystals. Which probably surprises those of you who are familiar with my style. You haven't seen me use Swarovskis very often, have you. But in my bead stash I have a rather large collection of them in different colors and sizes. I haven't actually bought most of them myself, but received in different collaborations in the past. I keep them all together in a box, because I haven't known what to do with them. But, anything odd or uncomfortable challenges me creative wise, so lately I've been thinking more and more about ways to incorporate them in my jewelry.



I am rather pleased with the result. However it was difficult for me to capture the sparkle of the swarowskis in a photo. I hope you get the idea anyway. When you wear them and they dangle they constantly and beautifully catches light from different angles. Makes them rather suitable for a party or a night out in my mind.

Throwback... Monday

I know, I know.... it's not Thursday, but I'm still in "website reno" mode, and there's so much to do... 

I figured I'd show off a pair of earrings that I made a little while ago.

It may not seem like much at first glance, but there's a lot of significance in this design:

A mixture of geometry in jewelry... circle, square, triangle

Think of the 3D shape of the Swarovski Cubes - Dimensions, the past, the present, the future..

 all belong in the collective energy of the cube.

The circle, representation of the Circle of Life. Never-ending, everlasting.

The triangles, found in the Triquetra charms: I have a Triquetra tattoo, and although it has many meanings throughout various cultures, for me, it stands for the Holy Trinity.

Protection, divinity, clarity.

There's usually more than meets the eyes ;)

Big Blue Sky Earrings

Today we will be revisiting a pair of earrings I made earlier last year.  I loved using the beaded rings by Kristen Stevens.

I picked up two pairs of Kristen Steven's awesome beaded links when I saw her at Bead Fest in August.

So for these earrings, I dangled some semi-translucent, sapphire colored, Czech glass beads from Kristen's beaded links.

I discovered that my Montana Blue Swarovski crystals were a perfect match with the beaded links, so when I made the ear wires, I added bit of sparkle to them with the matching crystals.

 In my dreams, I'd love to wear these earrings with this outfit-

But realistically, I think these earrings would be stunning with something like this-

Festive Sparkles

Over the years, I've accumulated a large inventory of high-quality jewelry components, and as I learned new metal working techniques, I sort of moved away from using ready-to-use parts and favored doing my own. But, these components are so pretty, I decided to bring them out to play, and make a good number of earrings for the Christmas Craft Show last month.

It was really nice to offer them as well as my more time-consuming/higher priced designs. 

These new Swarovski Crystal Earrings were very well received, and I have decided to also offer them on my website.... These are just a few examples of the earrings styles that I made:

  It's fun to play and design earrings using the various textural and visual elements.

Big Sky Blues

I picked up two pairs of Kristen Steven's awesome beaded links when I saw her at Bead Fest in August.  I actually haven't made very much jewelry in the month since then.  My focus has been on learning more about ceramics.  But I can't go too long without feeling the tug of of my love of jewelry design.

Wild Fire Girl

My wild days are over, and I'm not sad about it (I love sleeping now LOL... ) but there's always that little wild side of me that enjoys playing a bit with sparkles and glitter :)

I get the chance to create some Limited Edition work once in awhile, and this is one of those pieces:

I'm a member of The Artisan Group, and as such, I sometimes have the chance to submit some jewelry designs to stylists of various TV shows for 'consideration' to be used on those shows. 

Some stylists have restrictions or special requirements, while others give us carte blanche. 

You just never know what will strike a note with them. 

I enjoy the challenge, and hope that my designs will be selected (eventually).

I love the ultra light-weight feel of these earrings. Fun to wear, and so sparkly, it's crazy (did I say how much I hate photographing Swarovski Crystals? Ugh.... Even Polyvore messed up the image that I uploaded). All Sterling Silver, suspended on a pair of my handcrafted Sterling Silver Ear Wires.

These are going to be submitted to the Stylist of the Days Of Our Lives :)

Feeling Springy...

I live in western Canada and for us Spring doesn't really come until mid-May, just in time for summer to be on its heels.  However, we do have the luxury of enjoying chinooks in our region and with that we welcome spring-like breaks to our usually chilly winter days.  The last several days we have enjoyed beautiful sunshine, melting snow, wildlife has been out bustling around and the opportunity to set aside our bulging parka's for a light spring jacket.  This unseasonal weather has left me yearning for spring this year and rushing it here sooner than we will actually receive it.  So, I've been finding myself grasping onto anything flowery, colorful and just plain girly.  I've even found that lots of my jewelry has incorporated a colorful flair to it as of late and these earrings are no exception.  I love the way these would look with a pair of jeans, tee-shirt and a cardigan running a few errands here and there.

I hope you find the spring in your step today, as I have been finding mine.
