Connect the Dots

I love these wonderful dotty Lampwork beads by TwoSistersDesigns on Etsy. I tried to stack the red coral randomly so they don't exactly match and added a touch of turquoise for an unexpected traditional combination of red and turquoise. And it's all wired together with a pair of my Paisly Leaf Headpins.

Old World

Old World Blues
I was experimenting lately with metal shapes for earrings. I made some long, slender ones that I thought I would curl up at the bottom to hold another element, perhaps a ring. This is what I came up with! They remind me of old world door knockers. I textured the curled tabs with a large British coin from the 60s, and the rings with a brass texture sheet. I tried out all of my Czech glass, and couldn't resist the iceberg blue. I love this combination! I love how warm the photos turned out--unfortunately that's due to the forest fires burning around here. The setting sun was shining through the thick haze of orange smoke that has hung over the valley here for weeks.

I am imagining something exotic and European with these, with a historical feel--like Austro-Hungarian Empire! Plus a little southwest Boho:

Birch Bark Earrings

Papery birch bark with it's striking contrast of stripes and spots in gray and black where the inspiration for these earrings.  Paired up with beads inspired by the colors and textures of Gustav Klimt's birch painting shown below.  Tiny copper and glass beads top these earrings with wires of natural brass.

Delicate Dangles

I love long dangles. I love the black brass. I love Fall with all it's bright colours. This is when I find myself pulling out more reds, oranges and other earth tones.
Here is a top view of the beautiful ornate filigree bead caps. One of my favorite thing to add to earrings. These are almost 2.5 inches long and very lightweight! Perfect addition to your fall wardrobe!

Toile Earrings

After all the work I did to get these earring charms ready, I finally have something to show for it! My new Shabby Chic Earrings!
I really enjoyed making these. I wanted them to reflect my love of all things French! I think I accomplished that!
I made three colours of charms, so I felt it was appropriate to make three pairs of earrings, one in each colour! I love the mix of the Shabby Chic with the dark metal!
A little bit of elegance mixed with rustic charm! I think these will look lovely on any earlobe! Hope you agree! You will find them in my ETSY SHOP! Of course if you just have to make your own the charms are also available in my other ETSY SHOP ;)

Thanks for stopping by!

Copper Leaves

Sorry, folks, I can't help it!  I have autumn on the brain and all I want to make are leaves!  I have been playing with my fold-forming skills and did some of these cute little leaves and decided to create these earrings. Artisan glass by Reghina of Birchtree Jewelry is flecked with sparkly golds, green & russet.

I'd like to wear them with this jacket...I mean, why not?  It's only $3,700!

Oak Leaves

Something out of the ordinary this week! When thinking of Autumn, one would normally picture colors in the deep oranges, reds, yellows and browns... Why not spice it up with Kelly green and magenta!! These oak leaf charm earrings feature some hand-crafted Humblebeads polymer charms and pretty magenta resin ovals. The colors are happy, and these stylish earrings will be sure to turn heads! They are available now in my Etsy Shop!

Rustic Dangles

When I saw how perfectly these 2 components complimented each other
my first instinct was to try to put them together as one unit which I do all the time
but I wanted to step out of my usual so I went with Dangles this time.

These amazing Rustic Bone and Teal Lampwork beads by Lori Lochner
and Enamel Copper Beads by Maryann Carroll are a match made in heaven!

Autumn Cometh on Tiny Cold Feet

Autumn's Herald
There's been a chill in the air here the last few days, under brilliantly blue skies--the trumpets of autumn, heralding the impending arrival of the equinox! I love this time of year. I often find those glimpses of the season ahead strangely exhilarating. Except for winter. That feeling is more like dread than exhilaration. Except for that first time every year you are surprised by an icy toilet seat. That is actually a little closer to exhilaration.

I desperately wanted to use these sweet little stoneware charms by Karen Totten, so I started with those and designed the earrings around them. They're paired up with faceted iolite ovals, and copper earwires wrapped with tiny faceted Czech glass in "carnelian." I love how the charms remind me of frosted ginger snaps. Tiny little cookies.

One of the things I like about autumn is you can start to wear sweaters and corduroy again without looking like a sissy. I love corduroy. And tweed. Here's some tweed to wear with your new earrings!

I think it may be time to go sweater shopping again, my sweaters are all six years old and they're getting Funky. Half of them are embedded with steel wool cockleburs, and the other half smell permanently like Chest of Drawers.

Autumn Splendor

I created these leaf beads after finding some leaves that were slightly translucent - they kind of had a glow and I wanted to capture that using transparent clay.  The light makes the earrings glow as it passes through the mulberry stained color.  Tiny flower bead caps hold Czech glass and crystals.  The top of the wire is
shaped like a leaf.

You can find the earrings in my Etsy shop.

I happen to be sporting this outfit today. Minus the $300 shoes, I'm just not there yet in my fashion journey, but oh how I would love to find a knock off with the silver tips.  Snazzy!

Birdwings

Your grief for what you've lost lifts a mirror
up to where you are bravely working.

Expecting the worst, you look, and instead,
here's the joyful face you've been wanting to see.

Your hand opens and closes and opens and closes.
If it were always a fist or always stretched open,
you would be paralysed.

Your deepest presence is in every small contracting and expanding,
the two as beautifully balanced and coordinated
as birdwings.

Amphitrite

Amphitrite was the Greek goddess of the sea and consort to Poseidon. These gorgeous Czech glass coin beads reminded me of the sea. I paired them up with some hammered copper washers (I am currently obsessed with hammering copper and using liver of sulfur on it..OBSESSED) and patina-ted rings by Miss Fickle Media.

Did you know that there is a bronzed statue of Amphitrite underwater just off the Cayman Islands?

Sea Flowers

I haven't been doing much creating lately...the last week has gone by in a blur!  My son started middle school, then Thursday, he had the audacity to turn 11! Imagine that!  Then it was Labor Day weekend, and my birthday, and now a week later I am back at my 9-5!

I was surfing around Pinterest and found this pretty fabric swatch from JoAnn.com with chartreuse and blue flowers.  I thought, "hmm...this is really pretty. I think I have beads in those colors...what can I make?"

These are what I came up with...

Czech glass beads in pretty shades of blue and chartreuse green, sterling silver and some fabulous Hill Tribe silver ornate caps I forgot I had!

Fabric swatch from JoAnn.com, via Pinterest

These colors are so calming to me...colors of the sea!  As ready as I am for Autumn weather and the rich colors the season brings,  these earrings are a reminder that summer isn't quite over yet!!

These and more of my eclectic jewelry can be found on my website, Melismatic Art Jewelry, or in my Etsy shop!

Bleu

b.  Unknown source

Inspired by the beautiful blues in the above images, taken from Pinterest. Blue and a hint of brown, soft tones with beautiful patterns in the painted wood beads. I love mixing patterns such as in these wood beads, and the bronze heart charms from TheaToo. The blue glaze on the ceramic components from Elaine Ray, is the most perfect shade of blue. You can find these earrings in my web store.
