Rustic Roman Glass

Roman Glass Earrings

I love the delicate look of these thin slivers of Roman glass! It was somewhat of a challenge to me to figure out how to use this fragile glass, because I generally lean toward chunkier beads that are not as likely to break as I handle them. So I decided on a "Nikki"esque wire wrap with 26 gauge oxidized copper wire. I added some primitively stamped copper charms and tiny yellow Picasso Czech drops, also wrapped with darkened wire. Thank you, Nikki Zehler, for the inspiration.

  1. I love these! The glass reminds me of glacier-fed streams in the Rocky Mtns.

  2. Fabulous! What you did with them was just perfect--the fine, web-like wire is just right for such diaphanous discs! Love the sea green with the rust/mustard colors. The opaque, stone-like Czech drops are very nice with the translucent glass too, a great contrast.

  5. LOVE these! I have a bunch of Roman glass from Happy Mango and that I got from the gem show a few years back that are just beautiful. But, because many of the pieces are so delicate, like these here, I am afraid to use them for anything but earrings for myself. Guess I should just be brave and go for it. This is a great inspiration to do so!

  8. Love the roman glass! They remind me of recycled glass - which I also adore. Really great earthiness to this set. Pairs well with the copper and rustic Czech glass.
