Cookies and cream

Summer. Sun, sea and……ice cream.

During the 5th century BC, ancient Greeks ate snow mixed with honey and fruit in the markets of Athens. The father of modern medicine, Hippocrates, encouraged his Ancient Greek patients to eat ice "as it livens the lifejuices and increases the well-being (souce: Wikipedia).

I love ice cream. There are lots of  ice cream shops in Nafplio (Greece), the town close where we live. The beautiful display of so many delicious flavours is so so tempting. Cookies and cream is one of my favourites. As are all the chocolate varieties. Or strawberries or caramel or…… What can I say, I love ice cream. And apparently it is very good for my well-being LOL, according to Hippocrates.  And who am I to disagree with Hippocrates :-) I'm not sure he will say this regarding the current available ice cream, but hey, these are details I'm not going to worry about.
If you love ice cream, which is your favourite flavour?

  2. Ooooh, favorite flavor, huh? I have been smitten by a Gelato flavor, Sea Salt Caramel. Definitely healthy! :) Love these sweet little ceramic cubes. . . and the various pieces up top. The metal pieces that rather look like crowns, holding the glass beads. What color are those? I think they're great. They add a whole different dimension to the design. <3 Thank you for the history lesson, too. :)

    1. Thank you Norbel. Oh, I haven't tried that flavour yet. Not sure they sell it up here, will look out for it. The bead caps (grin, ice cream cones) have a lovely pink patina.

  3. I love these earrings! They are so lovely and happy. Your post brought back happy memories. I loved ice cream. When I was in college, I would often stop by the store on the way home and get a dove bar - coffee with that thick dark chocolate coating. I have sensitive teeth now and eating ice cream isn't as fun, but I'll usually try a bite of someone else's!

    1. Thank you so much for taking the time to leave a comment. I'm always happy reading them. Oh, that dove bar sounds delicious. I know what you mean with sensitive teeth, I have them as well. I did found a way to still being able to eat ice cream. I let the store put the ice cream in a cup (not in a cone) and I let it melt a tiny bit, so I can easily scoop it up with a small spoon. No biting required LOL

  4. Such beautiful color in those beads! They do look like cookies. Yummy! I am partial to interesting flavors, like cayenne pepper with chocolate. But more than that I love a good bowl of vanilla with tons of sprinkles and toppings. Enjoy the day! Erin

    1. Thank you Erin. Hmm cayenne pepper with chocolate, never heard of that flavour, but it sounds very interesting. Oh yes, a good bowl of vanilla ice cream. With chocolate sauce and whipped cream (Dame Blanche)...that will do it for me, every day. I hope you are having a great day as well Erin.
