These earrings make me think of a Gypsy lady, wearing her earthly fortune in gold and silver. I think it's these striped beads--I always think of striped carnival tents when I use them. I have no idea if Gypsies use striped tent fabric but for some reason this is embedded firmly in my mind.
I started this pair with rustic, brass finish Mykonos "cornflake" charms from
Stinky Dog Beads and built a subdued palette around them in silver, cherry red, olive green and ivory. The little striped Indonesian glass beads, as well as the big "Casbah" pewter bead caps, are from
Happy Mango Beads. The big clear glass nugget beads were cannibalized from a necklace a customer once gave me--I will be so sad when I use them up, I just love them! I haven't seen anything like them anywhere else.

ReplyDeleteWhoa,...those are super cool! Totally Gypsy.
ReplyDeleteThe colors are perfect! They are stunning..could be worn anytime, day, night, beachy...
ReplyDeleteGorgeous - love the striped beads with the round paddles. Very, very nice.
ReplyDeleteLove these, Keirsten Indonesian recycled glass is my favourite :)
ReplyDeleteOh these are SO gypsy, I love them! Love the glass with the silver charms! Perfection :)
ReplyDeleteI just used the copper version of those same Mykonos beads in a necklace and I hadn't thought of it before, but yes! so Gypsy! Also, now that that I think of it, they remind of the dangles on the edges of a belly dancer costume, too. Love the color palette you chose to go with the gold - very unique and suits those beads and the overall theme PERFECTLY!
ReplyDeleteWow! I want to run away with the gypsies, those in my ears.
ReplyDeleteVery pretty design! It's full of life!
ReplyDeleteAbsolutely gorgeous, as always. So many cool details: the hammered headpins, the fun bead cap, all the movement in the design! These would be really fun to wear!
ReplyDeletefeels so boho chic
ReplyDeleteThe earrings are absolutely splendid.
ReplyDeleteMy bead shop, the Rock Barrel in Richardson TX, always has clear quartz beads. I wonder, if you searched online, if you could find clear quartz that would do what your clear glass beads "do for you". I am guessing that the clear quartz would please your eye even more than the clear glass because it looks like a mineral, because it looks crystalline. Glass is a slow flowing liquid, very slow flowing, and will never have the clarity of crystal.
Very creative! Love the style and the movement. Freedom of spirit and soul! Gorgeous earrings.
ReplyDeleteExactly what I think of of when I want to dress casually. Those colorful striped beads & the Mykonos beads really come together wonderfully. Perfect for a day at the beach or simply lounging at home. Do you sell your creations silver earrings online? I'd love these!
