Glammed up Eyes

Hello.  Flowers and sparkly cup chain for eyelashes anyone?!
They might be a bit heavy to hang on the actual eyelashes (yikes) so I have these for our lobes instead 😆

I've painted the brass 'evil eye' frame in rose gold, pinks and gold.  I wrapped cup chain of various lengths to the bottom...to make them more interesting.  I added the beadwoven section to the top

Yellow crystals to make the eyes sparkle

Hanging view.

So there you have it.  My glammed up eyes - will be available next Saturday (30th) in The Jewellery Show FB group.

See you soon.

Hearts and Musings

With Valentines Day on the horizon, I've been making heart themed ceramic components. Today's earrings are my first completed heart pieces.
I did a lot of thinking, over the winter holidays, about what direction I wanted to go with my ceramics. Last year I focused mainly on selling my ceramic components. It was a more profitable endeavor than selling jewelry, but I missed designing jewelry - my first love. Also, you have to make a lot of jewelry components if that is going to be your main focus. I didn't enjoy the production pressure that caused me. So I've decided that this year I am going to focus on designing finished jewelry, using my own handmade ceramic jewelry components. I will still occasionally sell beads or design jewelry with art beads from other artists, but mostly I want to tie together my ceramics and my love of jewelry design.
These sweet earrings combine my ceramic heart charms, with Swarovski crystals, commercially made ceramic floral bead caps and sterling silver.  They are one of a kind, which makes them a perfect gift for that one of a kind person in your life - mom, sister, friend or yourself! These will be in my shop later this afternoon. As always, thanks for visiting Earrings Everyday and for listening to my musings on how I'd like to move forward in 2020.

Sweet and short

Greetings from Greece.
Today's post is going to be short and sweet, as are my earrings I like to share with you today.

These earrings are relatively short (9 cm) and very lightweight.
The ingredients:

- handmade etched glass headpins in a darker pink (Earthshinebeads)
- ceramic bead caps in pastel pink
- rhinestone spacers
- Czech glass in a darker pink with a hint of gold
- Tiny lighter pink seedbeads with a hint of gold
- Copper earwire

This lovely pair is available in my shop.

Thank you so much for looking and your support for Earrings Everyday this year.
I wish you all a Merry Christmas/happy holidays and I hope they are filled with lots of fun, joy, laughter and chocolate cake. See you in a couple of weeks.

Wishing you a wonderful day,
Janine

Funky Boho

I've been busy making polymer clay components last week for a show I had the past few days. I had lots of fun creating various components in a few different colorways, and the odd time, I come up with a shape I want to try just for fun.

I set these aside to make a pair of earrings for this blog post late in the evening (hence the artificial lighting - sorry!!). I wanted to make a different pair of earrings using a 'chandelier' type of component, but without making a 'chandelier' type design.

So this is what I came up with:

http://www.MyGardenOfLove.Etsy.com

I couldn't resist using my favorite Swarovski crystal drops (in my favorite color to boot) since the color matched so well with the pink I used in my polymer clay design. The hints of coco brown, and the speckles of Gold metal leaf add just enough sparkle to my liking!

I've used some anodized aluminum rings in the colors that pick up the pink and gold, and some Tierra Cast hammer textured components at the top to add a quick touch of rustic sparkle. Small sparkling yellow/pink seed beads are wrapped in using copper wire on brass head pins.

Fun, funky... a little boho, a little different ;)

Have a wonderful day... hoping things aren't too hectic for you!

I'm hoping to have time to update my shop with these earrings and add some new polymer clay components for sale over the next several days.

See you in a couple of weeks!
Nathalie

Pinky Love Knots

A couple of weeks ago I mentioned that I get giddy just thinking of certain color combos, well this one is another one of my favorites: Pink and gold. It's sunny, happy, and makes my girlie heart sing :)

Being that my health hasn't been the best for quite some time, being able to work with polymer clay and create with happy fun colors and components is such a joy, and such a healing process. I highly recommend it. Just do it for yourself, if nothing else.

So today, I wanted to share these happy earrings with you:

http://www.mygardenoflove.etsy.com/

Small polymer clay oval earring drops, handmade by me - these are water-colored in and I added some glitter (because life is happier with glitter, and because I can LOL), sealed with a glaze. I used some pretty Gold-tone Tierra Cast rings to create the two Love Knots.

Throw in a little natural hemp cord and Swarovskis for some lighthearted sparkling fun, and my gosh, we're ready for a fun Summer party! Wanna join me? We'll get the BBQ going :)

Have you added some fun accessories to your Summer wardrobe this year? What kind of accessories do you gravitate towards the most?

If you're looking for one of a kind handmade jewelry components and finished jewelry, hop on over to my Etsy shop HERE.

Cheers,
Nathalie

Stopping to Smell the Roses.

Hmmm.........today just happens to be my birthday. Not planned this way, it's just my regular posting day, but having reached the kind of age where my younger granddaughter Hazel asks me 'which birthday will you be dying on, Nannie?' I make a point of stopping to smell the roses - both real and metaphorical -  whenever I can.

This pretty Hellebore (aka Christmas Rose, Lenten Rose) was given to me by a good friend for my birthday exactly two years ago when our new garden was in it's infancy and is reaching a decent size now. When all is barren in the garden they can be relied on for weeks of colour to cheer you up and herald Spring. It's  a plant with history.

(19th C botanical image)

Co-incidentally, I received my order of several of  Kimberly Rogers lampwork criffles (which I love - and aren't they like the hellebores?) so last weekend I 'went pink' with several pairs of pink earrings. Some have already gone, and there a couple still in my Etsy shop, but I saved this pair for today as they're my favourites.

The crustiness just takes the edge off the 'sickliness' of  pink. They have a  'threader ' element to them in that the lovely vintage soldered silver chain (given to me by an elderly lady - actually older than me - when I shortened a VERY trendy pendant for her) pulls through the criffles so you can adjust the balance of the dangles. They have some great bruised pink biwa stick pearls (also from Kim) wired on to the ends.

So what do you think? Is pink for you?

See you on the other side of the birthday cake (assuming someone buys me one -       given the choice of baking or making earrings these days, the earrings get it every time!)

Spring Flirt

I don't know about what's going on in your neck of the woods, but here, Mother Nature is messing with us these days! We've had warm weather (no snow/green grass) and then 10" of snow overnight that melted within a few days..... back to warm weather, and now we're back to snow!?!

When the weather starts to get warmer, and I start spotting little Spring flowers, I get that twinkle of Spring in my eye! We're a little bit behind this year. These little 'perce neige' (Galanthus nivalis) adorn the flower beds at the front of the house at my inlaws. This picture was taken last year (day for day) and this year, there's maybe around a dozen blooms (far less than last year), so we're running a tad behind.

Nonetheless, seeing just one of these in bloom, flirting with my senses, is enough to give me Spring Flower Fever :-) Enough so that I needed to see flowers RIGHT NOW.... so to satisfy my need (hey, we all got needs, right? LOL) I made a few sets of double-sided little Folk Art Spring Flowers in Polymer Clay, and used one pair (in dusty rose) to make these earrings that I call "Spring Flirt":

http://www.MyGardenOfLove.Etsy.com

These very lightweight earrings are made using a pair of textured Sterling Silver oval hoops, on which I have wrapped a trio of sparkling glass seed beads on each side (yellow/pink/green) using Sterling Silver wire.

In the center at the top, I have some really cute (natural color) pink freshwater pearls dangling on a short piece of Sterling Silver chain, beautiful rose/pink Swarovski Crystals and lavender glass dagger beads.

http://www.MyGardenOfLove.Etsy.com

I like to add an extra touch of color when I can with Anodized Aluminium jumprings - Today I used some "Lavender" colored jump rings (from The Ring Lord). I find their site a tad confusing, but they do carry some really nice colors there. With my daughter-in-law being allergic to metals, I like to offer/use hypoallergenic ear wires, and this time I used a pair of pretty Niobium Ear Wires (with a .999 Fine Silver accent bead) from one of my very favorite suppliers: Royal Metal on Etsy.

I listed these new earrings in my Etsy shop yesterday in getting ready to write this blog post, and they sold out within a few hours... ooops!! But if you'd like to make your own, I have a few pairs of these rustic folk art handmade flower drops (approx 12mm in size) left and I've listed them in My Garden Of Love Etsy shop:

Wishing you an early warm sunny Spring!

Heartthrob Earrings

With Valentines Day approaching, I thought some heart themed earrings might fit the bill.
The Heartthrob Earrings feature delicately pink transparent glass beads that have a swirled pattern on the surface.  I topped the beads with Swarovski crystal bicones in a more intense pink. Valentines day seems to call for that touch of bling that crystals bring to the composition.

I used cranberry color Artistic Wire to create the heart shaped head pins and suspended them from sterling silver ear wires.
Wishing you lots of love - from kids, grandparents, pets, friends and family - all year 'round!

Carefree days

We had a snow storm again last night...
I am soooooooo ready for the carefree days of Summer! How about you??

Inspired by a Polyvore set that I've put together, I went with the 'fringe' route this weekend :)

Marliata Glass Earrings with Hemp Cords and Sterling Silver

Wild flowers... hot sun.... the breeze dancing in your hair..... your feet in the sand...
Carefree Summer days (hopefully coming soon!) :)

Carefree Beach Set

I have designed these 4" long earrings using a gorgeous pair of berrylicious artisan glass beads from Little Crow (I don't have a link, as I have not seen a shop for her anymore for a few years anywhere online - does anyone know what happened to her?), some variegated hemp cords in shades of purple, dark pink, sky blue and dark blue, and Bali Silver dotted beads, and sterling accent beads:

A little topsy... A little turvy :)

Yes, it is one of those days... where I felt a little topsy, and a little turvy! (not "tipsy"!! LOL)

I really need to clean up my bench. What a mess!
Amongst all the parts, baubles, beads, wires, metal, tools that all seem to pile up on there,
I always find some kind of treasure to put together.

Today, I fancied a little upside-down time. This is what I ended up with:

Inspired by my quest to celebrate how every single woman is totally unique (and I feel her jewelry should reflect this too), the Rosa Pink Tourmaline Earrings were born :)

These silver drop earrings feature:
nuggets of luscious Pink Tourmaline gemstones,
a set of my handmade Fine Silver mini hoops,
a pair of pretty sterling silver starfish (gotta nurture the mermaid in me!)
all with a soft satin antique finish

You can find the Rosa Pink Tourmaline Earrings on my website HERE.

Thank you for stopping by!
Have a super day!

Inspired by Pink Accessories

The earrings were inspired by my co-author (Bohemian Inspired Jewelry) and friend Erin Siegel who has mastered the technique of knotted beads onto metal components using beads and linen cording. I used some plain brass hoop earrings, and embellished them with pale pink cording and metallic peanut seed beads, and some Bali silver charms.  The pink was inspired by the popular color in accessories this winter, and here are a few great examples. Tell me these pink slouchy cowboy boots don't make you weak in the knees!
