Romance is Alive

I see crystals and think, Romance! I love amethyst, lavender, plum shades in just about anything!

These earrings feature hand forged .999 pure silver hoop rings with tiny spiral images, amethyst Czech glass fire polished crystals wrapped with fine silver spiral headpins. Bronze Czech glass crystals at the top connect to hand forged sterling silver ear wires. A rustic, antique finish complements the shiny crystals!

Wild Child

http://www.artandsouljewelry.com/products/gray-black-periwinkle-stone-earringsThese earrings were inspired and created to match a necklace I recently made, using similar components and beads. The inspiration necklace included a beautiful artisan lampwork focal I picked up in a tiny little (The best kind!!) bead shop in AZ last year. Really nice workman ship. I love buying artist's beads. Knowing that I can contribute to someone else's art while feeding my own creative needs is the most rewarding experience for me.

The artisan lampwork bead has shades of black and gray and a bit of a lavender hue as well.

I played off the colors of the bead by adding in some lavender jasper (from Alexanders Bead Bazaar- Seattle, WA) along with some gray labradorite, white African glass and finally some handcrafted ceramic beads (Cindy's Art & Soul) in shades of gray.

Black stone, Periwinkle Jasper and Handcrafted Ceramic Earrings by Art & Soul Jewelry
With the earrings I had to get creative since I didn't have the large focal to work with - I chose some small (found) black stones. The stones were hand picked from the beach here in WA - just last week! I drilled them and wrapped them with fine silver wire - adding in the lavender Jasper and handcrafted ceramic beads by Cindy's Art & Soul. The ear wires are hand crafted, sterling silver.

If you are looking for ceramic beads - there's a small collection there for those as well. And more coming next week! (ya!)

Winter Moon

On Saturday, I had the chance to participate in a local Arts & Crafts Sale. It was wonderful to meet local women and their families, and get their feedback on my work.

I haven't had the chance to participate in such events too often in the past, but I do my best to join in the fun as often as I can. There's absolutely NOTHING more precious than receiving real-time, face-to-face feedback from potential buyers.

And inspired by their feedback, and by the beautiful Winter Moon that greeted me on Sunday morning, I have designed these pretty Tanzanite Earrings:

Tanzanite Earrings inspired by the Winter Moon

The women that I spoke with mentioned that they loved gemstone earrings, but that they preferred shorter, more delicate designs (shorter than 2" in total), and it dawned on me that a lot of the earrings I've been making lately were longer than 2".

It really doesn't take much to get over 2" in length, counting the ear wires.... So I listened to them, and came up with these lightweight little hoops :)

Soft Lavender Tanzanite Gemstones are a beautiful go-with-anything neutral shade

Yesterday morning, when I woke up, I opened the bedroom window's blinds, and found this bright  (almost) full moon, greeting me, and the sky had beautiful painted wisps of lavender, light blue and pink. It was such a beautiful sight.

I knew right there and then that I had to make earrings inspired by that gift from nature.

I really had a great time meeting everyone at the show on the weekend. If you don't normally do Arts & Craft Sales, I encourage you to go out and meet women and ask for feedback on your designs. Sometimes, they see something that we don't...

You can find these Tanzanite Earrings here on my website...

Thank you for your time! Have a wonderful day :)

Lavandula

These were so much fun to create!!! I had these unfinished Polymer Clay Urchins and gorgeous Lampwork beads I knew they would go together well.
So I finished the Polymer discs to accompany the Glass beads.

These amazing Lampwork beads are the creation of Jen Cameron of Glass Addictions, the Polymer Clay Urchins I created and the fiber is a very small random piece of unknown type that was in a Sari Silk bundle that fell out on to the floor at just the right moment. There wasn't a lot of it so I cut it in half to be sure each earring had equal amounts and it was just barely enough.
Wonderful serendipitous moment!!

I found this gorgeous picture on Pinterest that just fit these earrings so well. The page no longer exists but the blog has some other beautiful Hand Painted Fiber to enjoy!

Arabian Nights

Arabian Nights
I have been really enjoying etching using some lovely digital damask patterns from Aesthetic Addiction on Etsy. I was toying with some double-sided folded shapes for earrings, trying to think how I could add hanging loops here and there for beads. I had sketched out this idea and these were my prototype. I was so thrilled that my "thought experiment" worked in real life! The beads are Czech glass--daggers and roundels in a moss green, and lovely lavender nuggets.

Call  me crazy, but I picture them with jeans (or your favorite belly dancing costume):

And when you wear your hair up, these earrings will look exactly the same from the back!

These are sold, but I will be making more and adding them to my Etsy shop. Stay tuned!

Plum Poppies

Plum Poppies
These "fairy flower" lampwork beads from Mermaid Glass are a delicious, pale plum color. They make me think of poppies! And plum jelly. I love the burst of amber in the center. I've wired them onto sturdy 18-gauge copper earwires, and accented them with little square glass beads in iridescent butterscotch and lilac glass rounds.

As usual, I picture them with jeans! And some wild shoes.

Key Fobs

Don't ya love it when you can find a new twist on an old component?
These remind me of Key Fobs, not your typical Key Fobs though.

Layered

layered

In keeping with what seems to be my consistent habit of adding flowers to all my earrings lately, here are some layered filigree components that I torch-fire enameled together, and embellished with Czech glass.....um, flowers!  I can see these paired with a fun, flirty maxi sun dress!

I have been having fun layering these components and will have a few of them added to my Melismatic Morsel  arsenal soon!

Spring Blooms

I am in love with Marsha's little treasures! I got a few at her last sale and would have loved to get many many more! These just called to me! They are a soft almost lavender and inspired me to find some colourful beads that pick up colour.
In different lights these beads look more purple and look fantastic with these perfect little dangles! Wrapped them in solid copper and antiqued them for a wonderful Vintage feel!
A little more Spring inspiration for you? My apple tree started blooming this morning and I just had to capture it! I LOVE spring blossoms!! In Canada we come a little later than most, this picture was taken May 20th. So pretty!

Hope you will stop by my Etsy Shop and find yourself some pretty earrings to wear! Maybe stop by and read the other posts too!
