Jewelled Hearts

Hello!

I really wanted to incorporate cup chain into my beadwoven designs.  I know it's very common in bead embroidery but I've not seen it in beadweaving.  I tried first by wire wrapping the cup chain in my usual manner....but when I went to add the beadwoven sections around it (and on the inside) it turned in to a right mess. This was a while ago.  

I gave it another try, I thought if I used the same method as bead embroidery I might get better results. It worked however it is very very labour intensive but the result is amazing (I think so :D)  

These are the first earrings in this design.  I'm pretty sure there will be more.    

I combined red, light and dark pink, orange, gold and then matte silver grey to tone it down a little.  I've used beautiful porcelain bells by Lonely Seagull as the dangles.

Which colourway?

I painted the brass frames and leaves separately with no idea what would become of them. Hope you like how I've put them together.  Let me know in comments which pair speaks to you (if any does at all :D)

First pair in ruby pink, jade, red, purple and blue

Second pair in metallic colours 

and the third pair in ruby pink, yellow, turquoise, silver, rose gold.

Neutral Bling

I love using hand components in my designs so I thought I'd share a few in today's post.  The beautiful and extremely versatile pewter hands are by Inviciti.  I used the same blank for the back and used the hands in 2 different ways.  I hope you like them.

In this pair I attached large rhinestones and seeds to brass blanks using copper wire.  My attempt at 'sewing' metal :D.  In the original version I had 2 more lines of seed beads in space above the hands but the earrings looked really busy.  I love OTT designs but it wasn't working in this instance so I removed those 2 lines.  I think they look neater and the empty space brings down the bling by just the right amount.

For the second pair I attached the hands directly on to the blank, framed with opal white cup chain which also act as dangles.  I added little seed bead dangles on either side of the chain to complete the look.

So there you have it.  My attempt at making 'sewn' (softly) blinged up earrings.  These will be available in my show next Tuesday in The Jewellery Show FB group.  Hope you cam drop by.

Colour mixing

Hi everyone, I have 2 pairs to show you today, both with Claire Lockwood's porcelain discs.  I have layered them with silk and chain.  Hope you like the results.

I kept the first pair short, I'm trying really hard to make shorter earrings as I keep getting asked to make them. Porcelain discs with silk in 2 colours, zircon chain topped with polymer roses by Neli Da

I've kept these long but they can easily be made shorter by trimming the chain.  I love to add accent beads in colours that appear nowhere in the main components of a piece.  Here the porcelain discs have grey/black, orange/red on them.  I decided to go with pink roses and bring them all together with silks in maroon and orange.
