Pretty insect wings

I am Sue from Utterly Lovely Stuff and I'm so happy to contribute to this rather fabulous blog :-)

I've been making jewellery for several years now, and love making earrings most of all. I have an enormous stash of Petra Carpreau's gorgeous ceramic pieces (ScorchedEarthonEtsy ) so turned to this when I was looking for inspiration for this blog. Petra's work is inspired by nature -shells, leaves, flowers etc and her pieces never fail to inspire. These gorgeous insect wing decal droppers leapt out at me. Wings of all descriptions seem to be very popular in earring designs at the moment (see Erin's previous post and beautiful moth inspired earrings). I love Petra's take on this current trend. The colours in both of these pairs are beautiful, they're like little impressionist paintings -gorgeous!

I wanted a slightly different design for both pairs. For this first pair, I added some czech glass roller beads, some layers of pretty black chain for contrast (and to give them a layered look) and some picasso seed beads to finish them off. Love the yellow and pink in this pair.

For the second pair, I used another pair of czech glass roller beads (these are great because of the wide holes) and added some pretty purple seed beads in loops (this was a fiddly business!) and finished these off with some delicate silver plated leaf chain for contrast

Star Spangled Woman Stone Earrings

Star Spangled Woman was the title to a piece of art I once entered into a juried art show here in town. I think I won, or got second place... but I like the title so I am stealing it for this set!

Like most women in my field I have a lot of irons in the fire and a stack of things to do each day. Writing for the EE blog is one of my favorite "jobs" I do twice a month. Struggling to keep up this week and posting late today with a very short (and sweet?) post!

These earrings were just born yesterday. Originally with more beads and much longer. I decided they were going to be too heavy. I snipped, snipped the wire into the recycled silver bowl and "revamped" them into this shorter set. It's a hard thing to do. To clip that wire... but sometime it's for the best. I am proud of my work and cannot put forth something I am unhappy with. So, it's all good!


Created with natural found stones from WA state, Pacific Coast beaches, thick gauge pure (.999) silver wire, silver nugget star charms and over sized silver-nugget ear wires of .925 sterling silver.


Love this set, love how they came together, the rustic look, the stars (I love star motifs!) and the shape of the stones couldn't be more perfect.

Weaver of the Web ☼

Hello everyone, my name is Lynn Ferro and this is my very first post!  I cannot tell you how thrilled I'am to be included in this blog, sharing my work with some of the most talented creators I know.  I have been creating and selling since 2007 and currently have a shop on Etsy named Yucca Bloom ☼

I find it most appropriate with my first post coming right before Halloween to show off my spider web earrings.  I purchased these connectors from Petra Carpreau of Scorched Earth on Etsy back in March, 2015.  I instantly fell in love with their unique look, but struggled immensely with a great design.  It all came to light looking back at some photos of tiny spider webs formed in the corners of a bridge handrail.  I did my best to weave my own web with glass seed bead droplets. I think they turned out pretty sweet, don't you?

Amazing how nature can have such an impact in your designs, I plan to do it more often ♥

As the weaver of the web, the spider symbolizes the spirit of creation and is associated with female creative energy.

Sounds like were all tiny spiders in our own weaving way♥
