Jellyfish

Maybe not the prettiest name for a pair of earrings
but that is what they look like so that's what I'm calling them.
 Pretty Jellyfish of course!

This is a new shape I've been playing with, it came about as I was working on a special order.
This isn't what I needed to fulfill the special order but I really liked it so I went with it.
The copper pieces have Sea Urchin or Snakeskin Texture.

Jellyfish

Originally I had pretty little faceted orange agates in mind but I decided to go with these very rustic Jasper beads and I love how it looks with the copper. In the center are some Copper Ammonite Cocoons I made some time ago. Nobody bought them so I decided to use them and they work great with this look.

Verdant Verdigris

Philodendron in Verdigris
These earrings were designed around a pair of fabulous enameled, philodendron-shaped leaf charms in berry and iceberg blue-green from Gardanne Beads. I love how you can see the fine veining in them! I've matched them up with lampwork spacers in copper green glass from The Spacer Bead Shop, and tiny rounds of jammy rhondonite on the earwires.

I love the juxtaposition of the jungle-like leaves with the vintage-feel verdigris color--it makes me think of an Edwardian greenhouse full of exotic specimens from far-off lands.

You can see more at my Etsy shop HERE.

Leaves and Berries

My heart is already skipping ahead to fall.  I created these 'berries' from polymer clay and the leaves are hand-forged from copper.  Yep, walking around feeling like Mother Nature - just make leaves and berries out of thin air!

As the summer heats up are you already dreaming of cooler days?  It's okay, it will be here in a blink of on eye.

Until them I prescribe many long walks on the beach, sipping ice tea on your porch, stopping for ice cream, sitting in a cold movie theater watching a summer block buster, jumping through a sprinkler and laying in front of the ice conditioner if all else fails.

A Gothic Tale

Sheldon: You know, I've always wanted to go to a goth nightclub.
Howard
: Really?
Sheldon
: Bazinga! You never see any of my practical jokes coming, do you?

I discovered the show "The Big Bang Theory" this spring and our DVR is set to record as many episodes as possible. I know. I am behind the times. And now I have hooked my entire family on the show.

Just this past weekend we caught episode three of the third season "The Gothowitz Deviation" in which Howard and Raj dress in goth outfits, complete with arm tattoo sleeves to go cruise a goth bar and pick up goth chicks.

I am about as goth as they are. While black is undeniably the most prevalent color in my wardrobe, I don't think I could pull off the look. Or the attitude.

I made these earrings called "A Gothic Tale" with some great pewter cast crosses from Lynn Davis Pewter Fauxtiques. I actually made the sterling silver ear wires myself! Pretty proud of that fact.

I think that I could get away with a more refined goth look in this sleek sheath dress by David Meister with an illusion lace sleeve that looks like I might be just a little badder than I really am.

Texture

Mixing and layering textures is one of the more fascinating elements of designing jewelry. It may be a little tricky, but definitely worth the effort to add so much more interest to any piece.

Blue zircon briolettes, neon apatite rondelles and rubies pick up the pink and blue highlights in these heat patinaed copper teardrop earrings. These delightful metal clay components, with their rich brocade texture, were made by Kristi Bowman

Thumbelina's Gypsy Caravan

Thumbelina's Gypsy Caravan
These delicious little pumpkin-hued keyholes are the first of my whopping big enamel stash from GardanneBeads. I am going to be making a lot of earrings with enamel elements!! After I had put these all together, they had a colorful gypsy feel to me, and made me think of an ornate, old-fashioned gypsy caravan.   A tiny one! With a wee door and keyhole. As if Thumbelina ran away to join the gypsies and they gave her her own little caravan....

Of course you must have a gypsy skirt to go with them:

Be sure to visit Gardanne Beads for an eyeful of fabulous enamel and unique lampwork! Etched lampwork spacers in blue from Julie Miller Glass, and striped Indonesian glass beads and copper spacers from Happy Mango Beads.

Sun Dappled

{Sun Dappled - featuring polymer clay large disk beads I made myself while at Heather Powers' Garden Party Bead retreat in May, peacock green seed beads on wire coils and hand patina-ed leaves on brass wires. For sale at www.TesoriTrovati.com}

The trees are filling out nicely around here. It is a good day when there is a bright blue sky with puffs of clouds and a slight breeze as I stroll along the Wisconsin River right outside my office. As I pass the towering oaks their fresh green leaves rustle a greeting as if they recognize you and are welcoming you back from the many months away. Is it weird to wave back or pat the sturdy knobby trunk as you would an old friend? I like to look up through the branches, admiring the way the light filters through the leaves and patterns my path. The birds chirp out a song and mill around on branches swooping down to chase a swarm of bugs at the water's edge for a tasty snack.

I created these earrings in the wee hours last night inspired by just that thought. I have to get myself moving again, but I have now switched my working hours to Fridays off for focusing on my jewelry business. Hopefully the skies will cooperate that day as I think I need some soul-boosting time among the birds and the trees.

I made those polymer clay beads from knowledge I gained from Heather Powers in her Garden Party Bead retreat last month. Notice the little key. Heather made me my own signature cane! So all the beads I made have that little key nestled in someplace. I would like to make more canes as it was such fun but I fear I may have forgotten all the knowledge I learned! I need to get back to trying this out again very soon as it was so much fun! Thank you, Miss Heather, for the inspiration!

Fresh Ivy Leaves

I made a slew of new patina earrings for a show I did on the weekend. I also have a couple wholesale customers that may be interested, but these ones are going into my Etsy shop. I don't think they will last long, so don't wait if you like them.
I was inspired to make these because of the beautiful weather we have been having. It is starting to feel like Summer and I am certainly ready for it!

Stop by my Etsy Shop to find these and many more earrings...

Copper Leaves

I had a copper sheet that I had been cutting some crosses out of and I thought, "I wonder what other shape I could just free form?" and then leaves popped in my head. Easy peasy. I also wanted to keep these earthy and chose beads that would keep the feel of that.

I think they would look fab with this collection I made on Polyvore.

Red Garden Party

I covered copper washers with molten metal and embossed them, then soldered filigree flowers.  Tiny carnelians are set in bezel cups for the finishing touch.

I would love to wear them to a garden party with this fabulous dress! Granted, the shoes would probably only last about 10 minutes!

Navy Gold and White

THIS dress that I stumbled upon on ModCloth today inspired these beaded earrings. They feature some buri seeds, Lucite, and glass rounds, with some sunshine  yellow silk ties, and hand-cut vintage tin discs. I love this color palette, and the dress is amazing. I might even think about it for my sister's wedding.

These earrings will be available momentarily at my Etsy shop!

Country Chic

Warm weather signals lots of outdoor activities, art fairs, bar-b-ques, graduation parties. . .  you get my drift. Comfortable and fashionable clothes with one of a kind jewelry are in order for these casual events.

I made these rustic copper earrings with hammered sheet copper, to which I applied a heavy patina. Then I added snippets of copper bezel wire, African copper heishi beads and tiny little aluminum eyelets for contrast.
