Leaves are Falling

 

Happy Wednesday folks! 

I'm in the middle of a two-weekend show on Facebook with my friends Lucy Haslam and Helen Backhouse. Inspired by the books/TV series 'Outlander' and set mainly in the Scottish Highlands at the time of the Battle of Culloden, then moving via France to Northern America, it's natural that I've included a number of pieces of work using designs based on heather, leaves and wood. 

These two new pairs of earrings are coming up this weekend in Part II - both using new, stained glass effect polymer clay leaves by Helen Backhouse. 

The top pair are lusciously long but light as a feather, using sigid wood tubes and Vintaj copper beadcaps, wound with silver/copper fancy headpins and swarowski crystals, hung on matching aqua niobium earwires. 

The second pair have more purple in them - I had these perfect stained glass effect lampwork beads by Leese Mahoney and again used copper beadcaps and the silver/copper headpins with swarowski crystals. The earwires are purple niobium. 

We all need some colour in our life at the moment. Hope you can join us over in The Very Nice Group this weekend.

Leaves and Berries

My heart is already skipping ahead to fall.  I created these 'berries' from polymer clay and the leaves are hand-forged from copper.  Yep, walking around feeling like Mother Nature - just make leaves and berries out of thin air!

As the summer heats up are you already dreaming of cooler days?  It's okay, it will be here in a blink of on eye.

Until them I prescribe many long walks on the beach, sipping ice tea on your porch, stopping for ice cream, sitting in a cold movie theater watching a summer block buster, jumping through a sprinkler and laying in front of the ice conditioner if all else fails.

Copper Leaves

 I had a copper sheet that I had been cutting some crosses out of and I thought, "I wonder what other shape I could just free form?" and then leaves popped in my head. Easy peasy. I also wanted to keep these earthy and chose beads that would keep the feel of that.

I think they would look fab with this collection I made on Polyvore.

Rustic Bling

Sometimes you just need a little bling, especially around the holidays for all the family gatherings and parties. Instead of going into the vault for my diamonds and rubies (tongue in cheek), I prefer my rustic bling. Take some rich solid colors from your closet and add some bold colorful earrings in copper, brass or silver.

These copper earrings are made with handmade copper components from Kristi Bowman. I have added green and dark red Czech glass, and faceted garnet stone beads.
