Summer Dreaming

Spring is here but I'm thinking up excuses to indulge in as much colour as possible.  When it comes to colours...more is always more.  I've had these polymer drops framed by copper wire for ages, they never worked in my previous attempts.  I also came across these ribbed polymer beads that I've also had for years.  These were part of another pair of earrings which I took apart.  The colours in both sets of polymer beads matched up perfectly.  All I needed to do was create something to go in between...to break them down a bit.

I painted brass tubes, instead of going for darker colours I decided to go all out and match them with the polymer beads. I laid them out: polymer rounds followed by tubes and polymer drops.  They did not look complete.

I sort of took the 'lazy' approach and wire wrapped some hoops in matching colours as I couldn't think of anything else.....hoping they would all fit together despite the explosion of colours.

Here's a closer look.  I think the components look comfortable with each other - the oxidised copper wire acts as the 'softener'.

These earrings are now in my Etsy shop.  Have a lovely weekend and I will see you in a couple of weeks.

Retro Sping Vibes

Hi there! I hope you're having a fabulous day today!

I have a spring in my step (no pun intended). I get happy when I think of all the pretty blooms to come. One of my middle names translates to "Daisy" in English, and maybe that's why I'm fond of all flowers that remotely resemble them? I don't know, but I really do love them!

Flower from my garden, taken a couple years ago

This particular type of flowers really caught my eye because of the beautiful shades of mauve, purple, pink, yellow, white and orange. I spent a lot of time admiring these in my front yard. I totally forget their name (I'm terrible with plant names), it's not a fancy flower, but they made my heart sing.... and that's what matters to me :)

Another thing that speaks to me is retro vibes - I'm a bit of a hippie, I won't hide it lol so I went a bit retro, and bit wild, with my new Ebb & Flow Polymer Clay Components Collection, and these earrings feature a pair of the drops I made:

There's a multitude of little details, starting on my handmade square Polymer Clay drops, where I have used some Silver Metal Leaf to add dimension, as well as a trio of square silver tone metal studs.

I wanted to bring out the pink in these very lightweight Polymer Clay drops, so I used some Swarovski Crystals (clear & Padparadscha AB), along with a trio of sparkling Silver Glass saucers, and some little TierraCast Silver faceted spacers (on the bottom jumpring) to add even more eye-catching sparkles. Titanium hooks complete the look:

I will be uploading a number of these new Spring inspired Polymer Clay Jewelry Making Components with a touch of retro vibe in my Etsy Shop this week. You can also find these new earrings there! I have so much to list, with a few different collections/colors, I need more hours in the day.

Do you have a favorite flower? How about a favorite color combo on your favorite type of flower?

Do you like retro vibes? It makes me feel lighthearted, and I feel like dancing to the rhythm of some  B-52 tunes lol How about you?

Thank you for stopping by! I hope Spring is finally finding its way to your neck of the woods...

I wish you all a wonderful Easter!

Cheers,

Treasures of the Sea

Treasures are in the eye of the beholder... What may seem insignificant to a person, may be an incredibly precious treasure to another. Where does your mind go when you think about "Treasures of the Sea"?

When I was younger, whenever I would think about the Treasures of the Sea, I would automatically think about Seashells, Pearls, Sea glass, Sand Dollars, etc.

As I'll soon be entering my (hopefully) wiser years by becoming a grandma next month... Now, when I think of Treasures of the Sea, my mind now goes to artful pieces of soft driftwood adorning our beaches nearby, stones of various colors polished to a super soft finish by the sea, the gentle waves rolling on my feet as I walk along the water line, holding my loving husband's hand. I feel so happy in my heart and soul, and that feeling is my most precious Treasure of the Sea.

The blue sky, the sun, or cooling clouds, the birds singing, the whales and seals floating by...
every single thing is magical in an even deeper way than when I was a child.

This story is my inspiration for these earrings... precious little tumbled nuggets of color with shades of the water, sand and sky (in my handmade polymer clay beads), the driftwood (the rustic wood beads), the gentle waves of the ocean (in the copper wavy bead caps), held together on a pair of non-allergenic niobium ear wires:

The perfect way to carry the good vibes of the beach everywhere you go ... at 1 7/8" tall.

I prefer to wear shorter earrings, but I find it challenging sometimes to incorporate everything I want in a design, while keeping the overall size under 2 inches :)

I've made a couple of extra sets of these cute little beach inspired rustic shaped Polymer Clay Nugget Beads. You can find these earrings and my handmade beads in My Garden Of Love Etsy Shop HERE.

Thank you for stopping by! Have a fabulous day!
Cheers,
Nathalie

It's a Chain Thing!

Almost all of my earrings will have some chain (mostly wrapped around beads) on them.  It's a very fiddly job but the end result makes it worthwhile.  Here are some I made this week.

Polymer leaves by Helen Backhouse and lampwork beads by Maryse Fritzsch-Thillens, wrapped with brass chain.

Polymer leaves (by Helen Backhouse) and Czech glass wrapped with silver plated brass and raw brass ball chain.

Polymer leaves (by Helen Backhouse) and lampwork beads (by Maryse Fritzsch-Thillens) wrapped with cup chain.

These are destined for my next online show in the Artist Spotlight fb group on 27th of Feb.  See you again in a few weeks time.  <3

Love Hearts

Seeing as it's Valentine's Day next week I thought I'd pull out all of my 💜 beads and make a collection of ðŸ’œ earrings.  That was the plan anyway.  I started on this pair (below) and it took me all day, in between dealing with a very restless 2 month old, to make just 1 pair. By then I'd lost interest in making more heart earrings so I just played for a bit and made the rest.  Hope you like them :).

Polymer hearts by Areto Beads.

Resin/paint and copper charms by Nicola Morse.

I have lost count of how many times I've made this design 😂 but I'm still enjoying making them so that's a good thing.  Resin/paint/copper charms by Nicola Morse and lampwork by GlassBeadArt.

and these, more simple compared to the rest but the colours went so well I didn't want to spoil them with more additions.

That's the lot for today.  I might list them on Etsy next week, if not they will be available in my next FB show in the Earrings Show group.

See in a couple of weeks time.

Randomness

I am sharing some of my recent makes today.  I didn't really have a theme in mind - was too busy preparing for the arrival of my little girl and by the time you read this she should be 1 day old :D.

First up are my favourite from this batch featuring porcelain cones by Emma Wilson, my own wrapped squares and patinated brass wings.

Enamelled charms by Kaz Baildon with my wrapped squares.

Polymer charms by Helena Benkoczka with my wrapped squares.

Adorable lil polymer winking owls by Helena Benkoczka

Ceramic Monet charms by Petra Carpreau and lampwork by Maryse Fritzsch-Thillens

Ceramic Klimt charms by Petra Carpreau.

Enamel by Cathleen Zaring and lampwork by Maryse Fritzsch-Thillens

and these.

These will be available when I re-open my shop in a couple of weeks' time.  See you again soon.

Almost Barefoot

Summer is about staying comfortable. So if you have to don a dress periodically, you can find one that is loose and breathable but still presentable for the office.

My rustic copper earrings are designed around these unusual folded polymer clay components from Barbara Hanselman. I have added verdigris patinated triangular Greek copper beads, and then wrapped the clay components with oxidized copper wire. Loose and comfortable for work or play.
