Autumn Moon

Hello and check me out!!! This is the first time I've actually named my jewellery :D. 

I don't tend to follow seasons, I just make whatever catches my eye on the beading desk.  For this post however I was determined to make something autumnal.  

I picked up these Muscha discs by Petra Carpreau as they had orange in them.  I wrapped some teeny leaves, orange seeds and of course rhinestone chain around big hoops and positioned the Muscha discs inside the hoops.  This was going to be it.  I was going to keep these short and simple.  But my Cathleen Zaring order arrived yesterday with these gorgeous moon connectors.  They matched the original earring colours so well that I just had to add them somehow.

Luckily in the original design I hadn't cut off the excess rhinestone chain from the bottom of the hoops yet.

I added a moon connector to one of the earrings with the rhinestone chain hanging from the bottom.  I used some teeny leaves to fill up the gaps.  For the second earrings I decided to leave the rhinestone chain as it is and attach the moon connector next to it.  I think the asymmetry adds a lot more interest to the design.  I like the way they've turned out and hope you like them too.

Coming back to naming the earrings.  There wasn't much rocket science involved.  There were moon connectors and the colours were autumnal, hence Autumn Moon hehe.  There you have it.  My Autumnal earrings.  Take care and see you soon.

Walking On Sunshine Earrings

I always experience an emotional lift in the spring, when the sun returns to the Pacific Northwest.  Perhaps I have a touch of seasonal affective disorder (SAD).  This year of course, I escaped winter altogether, by living in Oaxaca, Mexico for the past 3 months.  Nevertheless, I'm feeling that kind of springtime joy.  This area can be kind of dreary in the winter, but come springtime, it will just knock you over with the beauty of the sun reflecting off  the water of Puget Sound and Mount Rainier towering over everything.

When I reached for these disc beads by Marsha Neal Studio, that shape and color reminded me of the sun.  And I think that happy mood I was speaking of, just permeates this whole earring design!  I used some ceramic head pins that I'd gotten at Micheals ages ago.  I rested an orange Indonesian glass bead on each head pin and then wired the head pins to Marsha's ceramic beads.

 I had some hand dyed ribbon on my work table from a previous project and I decided that a little orange bow would look sweet and happy, as a finishing touch. (The ribbon ends are sealed with a bit of Fray Stop).

Some of my friends on Facebook have been reporting spring snow showers in other parts of the country.  I hope the "Walking On Sunshine" earrings will send a little bit of sunshine your way!

Rustic Copper Shield Earrings

Sometimes we need a little boost to feel great about ourselves. You know that outfit in your closet that effortlessly works and always makes you feel like you're at the top of your game? I think we all have one of those. So you don't have to actually be the "Chieftess" or the "Alpha", just feel like one every now and then. That is what these earrings say to me, "Look out, here I come!". Maybe I should call these my attitude lifting earrings?

To the wonderfully rustic copper shield components from Kristi Bowman, I added hammered copper wire arches and wire wrapped loops, and niobium ear wires. Sherbet orange Czech glass drops and tiny turquoise rounds add color and positive energy to the design.

Orange Julius

Orange Julius Earrings

Years ago, one of my favorite treats when I went to a shopping mall was an Orange Julius. My other favorite was frozen yogurt, but I haven't made those earrings yet. :) These gorgeous orange polymer clay donuts (I must be hungry because I'm starting to see a theme here) were made by Kristi Bowman. I have added a cascade of brightly colored ceramic and glass with little bits of copper in this whimsical design.

Copper Arrowhead Earrings

We've waited a long time this year for an elusive spring to arrive. Now that June is nearly upon us, I think it is safe to say that it's here. Time to put away the sweaters and expose some skin. Nothing puts me in the mood for spring and summer like brightly colored earrings! So I used large Czech glass rondelles in orange/pink with accents of teal, along with these wonderful copper arrowhead components from Kristi Bowman for a striking combination.
