flower power... well, sort of

Hello Earring friends,

How are you all doing? Hubby and I are in Germany for a couple of days. He needs to go to a big 4x4 exhibition for his work and I will be driving hem from our airbnb to the show and back again, cook and do my daytime job of course. I am so happy I can work from anywhere in the world, as long as I have a good internet connection. I just log in to the main computer at our office and I am good to go.

With all the deadlines going on, I did manage to squeeze in some time to make these earrings.

Gorgeous art tiles made by Janice Everett with a lovely paisley print in beautiful colors, lampwork glass beads by Chet, ceramic bead caps, Swarovski crystal, aquamarine and a flower bead.

Kaleidoscope

 
According to Wikipedia:
A kaleidoscope is a cylinder with mirrors containing loose, colored objects such as beads or pebbles and bits of glass. As the viewer looks into one end, light entering the other end creates a colorful pattern, due to the reflection off the mirrors. Coined in 1817 by Scottish inventor Sir David Brewster, "kaleidoscope" is derived from the Ancient Greek καλός (kalos), "beautiful, beauty", εἶδος (eidos), "that which is seen: form, shape" and σκοπέω (skopeō), "to look to, to examine",[4] hence "observation of beautiful forms."

 When I was a child my parents gifted me a toy kaleidoscope for Christmas. I was mesmerized by the amazing changing colors and just could not stop looking. Pure magic.

These fun and colorful lightweight wooden art tiles made by my good friend Janice Everett of J-Lynn Jewels brought back these happy memories.I first made a couple of earrings in this style for the interview with her, as a give-away. I love the style so I made a couple more.

Combined with gemstones, Swarovski crystal and handmade ear wires from another good friend Lucy Haslam from Faerystones they make fun, lightweight and bohemian earrings.

When I spotted these Bohemian Gypsy Soul art tiles by JLynn Jewels I knew I had to have a pair...problem was...which color combo would I choose, there were so many! After much contemplation, I chose this pair because I pictured combining turquoise (of course!) with these and my new love of orange/yellow paired with turquoise. Very pleased with the way they turned out!

 I think they would look great with a white peasant blouse like this one found at the rusty zipper.

Coral Blooms

Oh how I adore the color coral! When I saw these art tiles from JLynn Jewels I knew I had to have them...they just popped with color! I wanted to keep them simple since the dog tag tiles are so vibrant, so I just paired them with a faceted coral glass bead and an orange bead that matched perfectly. The tiles are great because they are very lightweight and perfect for earrings.

I can picture them being worn with this fun ensemble....

Yellow Damask

I just had to have these gorgeous tiles from J Lynn Jewels as soon as I saw them! I'm also really into pairing yellow and blue right now so I knew what I was going to do with them right away.

Forever Enchanted

When I spotted these wooden tile charms that my friend Janice (of JLynn Jewels) made, I knew I had to have them! I love the colors, love the birds, and love how they are wood burned for a gorgeous finish. You can see more of these tiles HERE. They are super lightweight too!

I could see myself wearing them with this ensemble...

Mmm..definitely craving a mocha latte now! A trip to Starbucks is in order, I'm thinking.
