Roman Shields

Hello! Looking for inspiration for today's blogpost, I came across these etched copper discs. I've had them for ages, and I can't remember who made them ... But I love the texture of them; they remind me of little shields.
I knew I wanted to add some little Roman glass rondelles (going with the ancient theme), but also wanted an additional focal point.

Step forward these delicious lampwork headpins by French artist Carol Pons of  Brume de terre. Now Carol makes some fabulous enameled pieces, which are very popular at the moment. But I also love her lampwork glass and copper components -always beautiful.
I tried to match up the colours of the headpins with the Roman glass in my stash.
So there we are...Roman shields... they are listed here
See you in a few weeks

Rosy, Posy Hoops

I have been wanting to create some hoop earrings for a long time, but was a bit nervous about making the earwire part and making sure they closed securely, but weren't hard to take on and off.  I finally just sat down and played until they worked!  These are my rosy, posy hoop earrings...for some reason I had "ring around the rosy, pocket full of posies" on a loop in my head while I was making these!

The posies are layered copper components that were tortured into submission by me, then enameled. I wrapped them onto the hoops so they face forward.  I am in the process of putting together a quick little tutorial on these headpins with a twist...made especially for wrapping!  Stay tuned ;)

I created a little ensemble on Polyvore that I thought these would go great with...a very romantic, soft and feminine look...perfect for warm summer evenings!

Athena

To me, these copper discs had a Greek look to them, so after thinking about it I decided on Athena. Athena was a goddess of inspiration & arts and crafts among other things. I was certainly inspired by these gorgeous copper discs and I thought that these lampwork beads by Bubby & McGurk Beads would work perfectly with them. I also love these Czech glass beads from Arte Bella Surplus.

I think they would perfectly complement this scarf that I found on Etsy a few weeks ago.

To see these earrings (sorry, earrings have just been SOLD) and more of my jewelry pieces, please visit my shop.

Thanks for looking...
