Elephant Sunset

Hey guys!  Not only have I been craving warmth these days but I've also been working on some animal themes for an upcoming charity event.  Mix the two together and voila!

The lovely drenched pewter elephants are by Kelly Luttrell of Soul Relica.

The accent beads are by polymer great, Jon Burgess.

I used blackened annealed steel, heavily oxidized vintage spacers and topped them off with a coiled wire bead cap.

Thank you for stopping by my worktable!  See you in a couple of weeks!

Saraswati

Sometimes things in life work out a bit differently than planned. I really planned on showing you a new pair of earrings today. I even set aside some art beads and vintage components to play with the minute I had some downtime. It never happened.
So I hope you don’t mind I am sharing this pair I made a couple of months ago instead.

Beautiful lampwork headpins made by the very talented and inspirational bead artist JulieWong Sontag, combined with lampwork spacer beads from Amy Hall and handmade copper ear wires by my friend Lucy Haslam of Faerystone.
Thank you for looking and I hope to see you in two weeks, this time with a new pair of earrings.

Yearning for India

When I think of India I can see bright colors popping up everywhere, I can feel the soft fabric of saris, I can smell and taste the delicious Indian food. And I yearn. I long. I want to go back.
Instead I browse through my pictures of India and try to capture a bit of India in my jewelry.

These handmade copper dangles from Kristi Bowman have just the right colors, shape and texture for that purpose. Together with lampwork glass beads in matching teal from Lampwork by Amy, vintage Lucite beads and enameled bead caps, Swarovski crystal and handmade ear wires from Faerystones, and voila, a bit of Bollywood bling. I can pretend I’m back.

Thanks for looking!
Wishing you a wonderful day,
Janine

Jodhpur

During our travels we visited Jodhpur, the beautiful blue city in Rajasthan, India. Of course we visited the famous Mehrangarh Fort. According to Wikipedia:  “it is one of the largest forts in India. Built around 1460 by Rao Jodha, the fort is situated 120 metres (400 ft) above the city and is enclosed by imposing thick walls. Inside its boundaries there are several palaces known for their intricate carvings and expansive courtyards”.

The colors and shape of these beautiful handmade polymer clay beads by Cindy Hinds reminded me of that place. I combined them with handmade pewter charms by Invicite, handmade copper earwires by Faerystones, a bit of Czech glass and some gold and silver plated spacer beads. These are available in my shop.

Hi, my name is Janine Lucas. Originally I’m from the Netherlands but since 2006 I live where our mobile home (a converted truck) is parked. Currently my hubby and I live in Greece but for some years we have traveled Asia and the Middle East.
Next to my official job as a management consultant I am a jewelry designer and (art) bead collector/hoarder/addict (depends who you ask).

This is my first post as a regular contributor of Earrings Everyday and I couldn’t be more thrilled and proud to be part of the wonderful Earrings Everyday team. As a matter of fact I did some really crazy happy dances around our truck once I’ve got the word. I hope you will enjoy my postings.

Wishing you a wonderful day,
Janine
