We're All Ears :: February Reveal :: Frozen

Friends. I don't have anything new to share today. Some of you know this, but others may not...my mother passed away just two days after the challenge post, on February 3rd. My Muse has not returned with all the things that I have needed to attend to, but she is thawing out a bit, so I am sure that I will be back to creating quite soon.

Instead of something new, I am going to share a few things that I made over the years that I think fit the wintery theme. And of course, I am most looking forward to what you have created because when you step outside your comfort zone and challenge yourself it is a thing of beauty.

Like Crystal Snowflakes Falling

Two dazzling crystal clear vintage Swarovski snowflakes!

Highly faceted AB vintage crystals from the 1930's add a touch of beautiful color.

I made these as a Christmas gift for one of my oldest and dearest friends - she loves Swarovski and vintage as much as I do!

This was a short but hopefully sweet post as things are getting crazy the week before Christmas!

Thank you so much for stopping by and having a peek!  I will meet with you again in the New Year!

Cheers!!

Chocolate Jimmies

My mother used to make the most wonderful cookies. We called them "Chocolate Shot Cookies." They were buttery with a slightly oaty texture rolled around the edges in chocolate shot, otherwise known as sprinkles or jimmies

{This picture - and the recipe! - can be found on the Tango Mango blog}
My mother no longer bakes cookies like this. Truthfully, she likely wouldn't remember ever baking them anyway. She has early onset Alzheimer's and so a lot of the traditions that we built up over 67 years seem to have vanished into thin air. But I remember the way these cookies melted in my mouth and the smell of butter in the air. Perhaps I will see if I can take command her recipe box and resurrect some of these old standards.

I had these little ceramic snowflake charms from Lisa Boucher of ClayworksNH (who is having a SALE on all her holiday items including these sweet charms!) on my table for another project that I just shared on the Art Bead Scene. I thought these with the little flecks of brown looked just like those cookies. I wrapped some wire around the charms and strung on some chocolate colored peanut beads. Looks just like those chocolate jimmies my mother used on the Chocolate Shot Cookies. Takes me right back in time.

Wishing you and yours a very Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year!

Snowflakes

I love snowflakes and how each one is unique. I couldn't wait to try out Copper clay with a snowflake stamp that I have. I have used PMC3 and Bronze clay in the past, but this was my first attempt at Copper clay. I did a light patina on them to bring out the snowflake stamp. Lampwork beads are by Bubby & McGurk Beads.

I just had to share this lovely photo of a snowflake...love the detail.

These earrings are available HERE, as well as a matching snowflake necklace.

Winter Branches

A pair of simple earrings with a mix of icy winter branch beads and a some fun bean shaped glass beads in a dark chocolate brown.  Snowflakes and a hot cocoa anyone?

I'd so love to pair it with some lovely knitted snowflakes like the ones on this silk and mohair scarf.  I may need to buy this for myself for Christmas, it's calling my name.
