Colors of the Ocean

Colors of the Ocean, lampwork by Lori Robbins, ceramic charms by Jenny Davies Reazor.
I have had these sweet charms by Jenny Davies-Reazor since last August!  I love how she leaves the rough edges on the clay and the organic designs she embosses them with!  I remember choosing these 2 specific pair because of the intense hues each possessed...they reminded me of the colors you see at the ocean...from the darker blue to the more teal, almost green hues.

A closer look...look at the colors in those borosilicate beads!

These were on my work table and I decided to use some lampwork beads that I had in my stash...I believe both pairs are by Lori Robbins.  She makes incredible borosilicate beads.  Her pairs are almost always perfectly matched.  Unfortunately, she hasn't had anything in her shop for a while and I don't know if she has a website!

These are wrapped with sterling wire and include hand wrought sterling earwires, that I may or may not change out...these are a bit big for my taste :)

Now, if I could only get to the ocean to enjoy the colors in person...until then, these will have to do!

Purple Relics

Continuing in my vein of trying to draw inspiration from my surroundings, I was admiring one my African violets on my desk at work.  I have this under-counter fluorescent work light that my violets love and they have been blooming up a storm.

Look at those lovely, velvety, vibrant blooms!  I thought..."Wow, I need to make earrings that color! Hey, I remember some sweet purple ceramic charms I got from Jenny Davies-Reazor at ArtBliss last September!  I'll use those!"

I kept them simple by layering them over some copper discs that I texturized. The ceramic and copper make this fun, tinkling sound when you where them!

So versatile...wear with jeans, t-shirt and cowboy boots (my preference!) or with that pretty, springy, colorful floral dress!

These and more of my eclectic jewelry can be found at my shop!

Salt of the Earth.....

A few weeks ago, I attended ArtBliss, where I took a couple of classes and got to hang out with some friends, new and old!  It was great fun and I learned lots...I have a blog post in the works for Art. Life. Love., to share more of that adventure.  While there, I had the good fortune of attending a trunk show of the amazing, Jenny Davies-Reazor.  Jenny and I had met before, but this year we had something in common...we both just got chosen as contributors to Art Jewelry Elements!  I bought several cool items from Jenny, but these earring components practically threw themselves at me!

Ever since I was introduced to salt glaze pottery, like this David Eldreth pottery, by 2 of my sisters, who are collectors, I have loved it.  I don't have a huge collection, but I have some choice pieces.  These earring components  evoke that same simple, earthy, down home vibe that I get from my Eldreth pieces.

I love that they are components aren't identical!  I paired them with sodalite rondells and lots of sterling silver.  I embellished  the connecting links with Hill Tribe silver disks, wrapped on with copper headpins.

These are the kind of earrings you can put in your ears and just leave in all autumn!  You can find these and more of my eclectic jewelry designs at my website, Melismatic Art Jewelry, or in my Etsy shop.
