Purple and Yellow....

or what I was working on before my power went out and my basement flooded!

I have just changed my enameling torch and am finally getting some gorgeous colors.  Have been creating some pretty layered flowers, and these colors really jumped out at me!  Embossed and enameled copper, these remind me of purple and yellow dahlias that my Momma used to grow.  Perfect for autumn!!

I'll have them in my shops later on...if you can't wait, email me!!  Hope all my East Coast friends are safe!!

Slender Buds

Wine and Lilies
I just love long, slender earrings, it's a shape I'm drawn to again and again. These are made from a pair of my copper lily-style cones, but in an elongated, slim silhouette. I paired them up with deep red Czech glass.

I picture them with a dramatic, floor-length gown, in deep garnet tones:

Harmony

I've been experimenting a little more with wirework so I made these wire hoops using 16g solid copper wire from Fire Mountain Gems and it was easy and fun. I really love hammering metal...it's like I have to hammer, I can't leave it alone. I used liver of sulphur on the hoops after hammering them. I added the Czech beads from Arte Bella Surplus and was really happy with the result.

I'd pair them with this ensemble that I made on Polyvore for a fun girls night out!

Leafy Love

There are still a few dark, damp and deeply scared leaves clinging to the trees. Just a few more days remain before the branches release their finery and their knotty fingers reach forlornly to the cold gray sky.

These brass leaf earrings with their embossed veins and their new spring green and aqua color remind me to appreciate the color of green when it returns in the spring. Until then, I am grateful that I get to wear cozy sweaters and earthy hues that can be punctuated by pops of bright color.

I don't have the occasion to dress up that often, but when I do I like to wear classic styles with just a touch of quirk. I would pair these earrings with a brilliant green top that would stand out in the gray days ahead paired with a tweedy pencil skirt. And I am so glad that I never got rid of my leopard print pumps as they are back in style with a vengeance.

Coral is the perfect foil to all this bright green and makes the green a neutral with its in-your-face-kapow color.

I can be fine with the coming winter as long as I can surprise even myself with these escapees from the Crayola factory.

Of course, I am usually wearing jeans, a t-shirt and cardigan and a pair of flats. But if I were to dress up, this is what I would choose to release my inner goddess.

What outfit would tell your story?

STeamPunk STyle

I have been experimenting more with a fun style called steampunk lately. I am actually surprised by how many people locally have no idea what steampunk is! I have been trying to educate them a little and help them discover this wonderful and eclectic style!
I made some pieces for a client to go with their Halloween costumes. I am excited to say they were quite pleased and excited that I was able to make the pieces for them. Of course that is where the rest of the pieces in My Etsy Shop came from. Inspired by what I had created for my customers, I just went with it!
Of course this is a blog about earrings, so pictured here are only the Steampunk earrings I made. To see the rest you will have to hop over to my shop...

So have fun shopping for your Steampunk style pieces!! You never know what you might fall in love with!

Shades of Autumn

When I spotted these gorgeous lampwork headpins by Nikki Thornburg, of Thornburg Bead Studio,  I just had to have them...they are so pretty and reminded me of Autumn, my very favorite season. I paired them with a Czech bead and a copper disc that I hammered and then patina-ted. I also mixed metals which I rarely do (although I should because I really like when others do it!).

Here are the current shades of Autumn from my home in Kentucky

Flower Hoops

I am torn. I don't want to give up the flowers but yet I am embracing the Autumn season too. These earrings are a cross between both. Gorgeous deep Autumn colors but with a floral motif.
Available in my etsy shop

I put together this inspired outfit to wear with these earrings.... I totally love everything here. I think I need to go shopping now....

Going Tribal

My earliest pieces of jewelry were slightly southwestern in style. It is the tribal element in southwestern that is so appealing to me. Along the way I have discovered other tribal styles including Hill Tribe silver, Peruvian ceramic, Asian mala, Indonesian glass. I love them all!

My personal favorite for variety, vivid colors and imaginative use of shape are the African beads. Primitive hand painted Krobo beads are captivating and full of personality. Brass beads are cast using the same method for a thousand years and maintain that ancient character. Large and small trade beads (originally from Europe) in bright colors have circulated within tribal Africa for hundreds of years.  These amazing African beads are now becoming more readily accessible, and they inspire me to go more and more tribal.

Delicious Autumn

A simple pair of leaf earrings on sterling silver earwires.  Tiny little faceted brass beads adds a little sparkle and interest.  The leaves are created with transulcent polymer clay and dyed in autumn hues.

You can find these earrings in my Etsy shop later this week.

Yep, it's so true!

Architectural Details

Architectural Details
I keep making these architectural or hardware looking things. These earrings make me think of a corbel, a decorative bracket used to support a mantelpiece or a shelf:
Corbel from RWM
I had an idea--one of those stray thoughts that float into your mind in the shower, or while you're driving, or as you're waking up in the morning--about folding a tab of metal over the ball of a headpin to create a hanging loop. I tried it a few days later and it worked!
I love metal.

I picture these with a Victorian Steampunk-flavored ensemble:

Autumn Hoopla Earrings

I love that little bit of pink you can find in autumn. Mixed somewhere in the palette of rusts and ochres are the more rare brilliant reds and plums of the season.  I created these earrings inspired by some of Pantone's Fall 2012 color picks.

Autumn Hoopla Earrings can be found in my Etsy shop.

Lotus Awakening

{Lotus Awakening for Sale in the Tesori Trovati webstore}
I had these little new old stock raw brass flower filigree bead caps. I bought them to enamel. That was before I took the class with Barbara Lewis and discovered that it won't work on raw brass. I didn't want to give up on them, so I decided to see what would happen with the new Vintaj metal patinas.

The colors are very vibrant, they can be layered, but you have to work quickly because they bond to metal  and dry fast. This is a few colors of the patinas blended together and paired with amethyst.

I would pair these earrings with this beautiful purple jersey infinity scarf from LenitaGM on Etsy.

And this recycled bomber jacket turned hip bag by my friend Lori from Studio Waterstone on Etsy. I am seriously tempted to buy this bag. I just recently bought one of Lori's recycled bomber jacket bags in teal because I couldn't wait. Now I want this one in black, too!
{Look at the color inside this one! Squee! Trust me, you want this... I sure do!}
