Dressed Up Dahlia

The wonderful richness of these colours always inspires me to be more natural! They almost seem to have been plucked right from nature! I love that these are both art beads, completely from different artists and seem to have been made for each other <3
You will find these in my Etsy shop and can save some money on them just by using the exclusive EARRINGSEVERYDAY coupon code. Have fun looking at all our wonderful earrings and don't forget to leave us some comments :)

Filigree Hoops

Everyone ready for Spring, raise your hand!

Even though we are barely half way through winter, I am ready.  The weather on the east coast has been crazy...below freezing one day with snow and ice, then over 60 degrees the next!  My poor spring plants won't know what to think!

Now, you would think that if I am so into the upcoming Spring-dom, I would have created light and springy earrings, wouldn't you! Well, I would wear them with something that fits the bill...similar to this!  You know, I can't post these fun outfits without including some kickin' boots, right? And this minty green will make you feel all  springy, even if there is still snow and ice knocking at your door!

I embossed copper strips in my Big Shot, then punch holes wherever I felt the spirit lead.  I ruffled the edges a bit, formed them into hoops, and added sterling earwires.  The bits of green you see are  left over from a layer of patina I added, but didn't like.  I don't mind the residual, however!

These and more of my eclectic jewelry can be found in my etsy shop!

Spring Walk

We have had our first taste of winter these last few weeks.  Today the snow is all melted and it's 50 degrees.  Oh how quickly we yearn for the next season!  I'm ready for walks in wooded paths, where daffodils are sprouting up and birds are chirping in the distance.

These sterling silver earrings offer a fun take on traditional hoops with a rectangle design.  The tiny buttercup beads are handcrafted from polymer clay, each color a different layer of clay formed to create the pattern.

You can find them here in my Etsy shop.

Kaleidoscope

These are some seriously fun earrings and I considered keeping them for myself. Of course I know if I started doing that I would never have any earrings to sell! I called the Kaleidoscope because of the multitude of colours in the beads. I love the way they shimmer.
These are all done in copper and patina-ed. You will find these and many other designs in my Etsy Shop. You can use coupon code EARRINGSEVERYDAY to save on your purchase today.

Thanks for stopping in!

Tantalizing Orange

My mom is in love with these earrings. I will most likely make her a pair at some point, but for now these are for you! They have a really Vintage feel and a real splash of colour! I was inspired by Pantone's Fashion colours although this is not quite Nectarine, I still wanted to use something in the orange tones.
Here is a closeup of the amazing orange colour of the tear drop beads. I just love how bright they are! Can't miss them!

Listed in my Etsy shop for purchase now...

Birch Bark Hoops

Metal hand-forged to look like birch bark is paired up with handcrafted beads in a papery birch design.  The sterling silver hoops offer a fun design element to these earrings.

I'd like to go by climbing a birch tree,
And climb black branches
up a snow-white trunk
Toward heaven,
till the tree could bear no more,
But dipped its top
and set me down again.

That would be good
both going and coming back.

One could do worse than
be a swinger of birches.

Floating on a {Warm} Breeze

It is something like eleventy bajillion below zero with the windchill factor here in central Wisconsin this week. I know that winter is supposed to be cold, but come on! This is so cold that my ice cubes have icicles! I am ready for warmer days to come and in thinking about that I am trying to put all my positive vibes toward an early spring. There is such a thing as willing a thing to happen, isn't there?

I created these earrings because I see such hope in the image of butterflies, and I have to hope that they will return again, although it is so cold that I can't believe anything can survive. These jaunty little butterflies in the most regal shades of purple swing tantalizingly from some brass chain as if floating on a breeze. I long for the brighter days of spring, gardens filled with flowers and winged creatures flitting from bloom to bloom. The next best thing to being depressed by the weather is, of course, retail therapy. Even just virtual window shopping puts me in a better, brighter mood. I went searching for the perfect garden tea party attire and I think I found it! I would pair these sweet baubles with this dainty Yellow Floral Swing dress and these Modern Elegance Peep Toe Pumps both from Ruche.com.

Think warm thoughts. :-)

P.S. There were SOOOO many wonderful comments from my last post about the Sweet Serendipity earrings in the Pantone Spring colors. Pretty much it sounds like you are all ready for a change of palettes as I think every color was mentioned at least once! I promised that I would giveaway one pair of the Sweet Serendipity earrings in the color of the winner's choice. But I am feeling extra generous. I have selected two winners at random:

Sienna Vineyards

Lately I've become addicted to wire wrapping seed beads. I really like the messy look of it and it's fun. I paired these burnt sienna colored seed beads with these lampwork beads by Bubby & McGurk Beads.  I flattened a couple of Vintaj bead caps and added a seed bead to those as well.

They'd go fab with this gorgeous chunky knit cowl scarf by Glorious Morn

Playin' Around...

with my BigShot some more...had these all ready to go except for earwires last night.  Too bad I didn't remember it was my post day today until I saw them laying on the table as I ran out the door for work!  I grabbed the earrings and the camera, but didn't get the earwires and pliers!

Oh well...here we have 2 simple pairs...one for upcoming Valentine's Day, and the other to greet Spring in all it's green glory!  Copper  blanks have been embossed and embellished with Czech glass from my stash.  I tried my hand for the 1st time ever using Vintaj Ranger ink on the green ones...what do you think?

These will be up in my shop later tonight...as soon as I can get the earwires on!

Hoot

I wanted to showcase these adorably sweet Owl charms from Humblebeads, and decided to pair them with some hand-forged copper wire links and handmade earwires.  The teal waxed linen cording ties give a nice little splash of color on the metalwork.

Owls are huge right now, everywhere! Even at the mall and in clothing stores! I'm sure the influx of them in the crafting and hobby world had something to do with that! It's one of America's favorite birds! Any owl or bird lover would be thrilled to own these! They are listed here, at Lorelei's Etsy store!

Not So Basic Black

I reversed my usual process for this post and assembled my Polyvore outfit first and then made earrings that would coordinate with the ensemble. In the outfit below, I chose purple as an accent color and used pattern and texture to add interest. The earrings are Sterling silver with black ceramic beads that have some shades of mauve and gray, and a little dash of sea green African vinyl beads for additional color.

Back when I was still wearing stylish shoes and my clothes were sort of an "investment", I had some basic black pieces that served as my wardrobe foundation. Black is such a versatile color and has the added benefit of making us look thinner. I would still include pieces in colors that are within my palette. But Instead of having to start over each year in order to have the trendy colors of the current season, all I had to do was add a few new accents, maybe a couple of new tops and a pair of shoes.

The idea is to have basic pieces that can be worn with multiple components, to add contrasting colors and patterns, and to select styles that will be wearable for more than one season. The concept applies to jewelry as well. Start with the basics and then inject your own personality.

Funky Square Spirals

It's rare when I make earrings that don't include at least 1 piece of my Copper Components
but here is one of the exceptions.
These were inspired by a recent Component of the Month Challenge on the Art Jewelry Elements. I have yet to finish that piece especially since I stole a couple of the Square Spiral components to make these earrings. They were calling to me I had to do it!!

These earrings are light as a feather. Fun and funky and have lots of movement.

I didn't use this tutorial but thought you might be interested in making Square Spirals yourself.

And I'm totally in love with these Square Spiral Spacer Beads and had to buy some.

These earrings and lot of other finished jewelry and components are available in my Etsy Shop.

Sweet Serendipity

I have been playing around with different series of late. That is so very unlike me. Usually I make one of something and then get bored with it. But I had these great little floral stampings in my stash and was experimenting with the colors of metal patinas and I just couldn't stop myself. And so these dainty yet bold earrings were born.

They look like those woven tapestry ribbon to me. And I happened to find matching beads in my stash as well. I find them girly but with a pop of color. Sweet serendipity.

Maybe I was influenced by the Pantone 2013 color palette (although not all the colors in my earrings are represented here... or are they?). I actually did have that Lemon Zest color, but I pulled them because one was lighter than the other. I must have been diluting the paint at that point. And I actually do have a color close to Linen. But I am still trying for that Poppy color. Mine is more rust. Still... I made all these before I even spied the color forecast. A true happy accident.

I am feeling generous. I would like to give away one of these pairs of earrings to one random commenter. You pick the Pantone color and I will make them just for you! My next post is scheduled for January 22nd. I will announce a winner of any one of these earrings on that date.

How about multiple ways to win? I like the number three, don't you? Each comment is one entry up to three per person will be considered.

1::FOLLOW Earrings Everyday and leave a comment that you do.
2::SHARE Earrings Everyday with your peeps: tweet, Facebook, blog, skywriting, smoke signals, sandwich board, billboard... pick one and tell me what you did.
3::SELECT your favorite Pantone color from this palette. Or combination. What colors speak to you? What are you most surprised to see here? Is there a color that is growing on you? Do tell!

And do be sure to have a way for me to contact you to arrange your prize. I will announce the winner on January 22nd!

Aura

I've always loved this color combination of fuchsia and aqua and I have incorporated it into many of my designs. Just made these the other night and they are already a favorite of mine.

I'd pair them with this blouse from Sundance catalog. Throw on a lightweight purple scarf for good measure? Perfection.

Peach Medallions

On my Santa list was a rolling mill...let's face it, a rolling mill has been on my list for a while.  Unfortunately, Santa has not been in the position to gift this hefty (weight and price) machine yet.

This year, though, he and I settled on a compromise...a Sizzix Big Shot!  I found it on sale at Amazon and told him if he wasn't going to add it to my Christmas list, I was going to get it for my self...it mysteriously ended up under the tree!  It didn't come with any embossing folders or dies, so I ventured out to Michael's and found a couple to get my feet wet with.  I think I like it!!

My first attempt!...embossed copper medallions, embellished with antiqued peachy Czech glass beads from ArteBella Surplus, sterling and copper earwires.

Here's a pretty peach grouping from Polyvore.com they would be great with!  Add your favorite comfortable jeans and boots and you are good to go...perfect for that transition from winter to spring!

Neutrals

As a designer who is constantly challenging myself using color, this time around I wanted to create something a bit more neutral for the blog today. These delicate dangles feature some beautiful Smoky Quartz beads in a unique squared rectangle shape. I layered these beads with some deep red garnet drops and some tiny freshwater pearls.  I think that these muted tones could be worn with anything and always look great!

You can find these and other great earring designs in Lorelei Eurto's Etsy shop!
