Effortless

I long for effortless dressing in the summer. And my jewelry is decidedly unfussy as well, like these earrings with the open copper links and the cool blue of faceted dumertorite. I just wish my closet contained things that were so easy to put together as this ensemble.

Flower Petal Earrings

Metal flower petals that have been given an aged patina offer a delicate and unusual look to these earrings.

The petals are paired with handcrafted polymer clay beads in a soft pink hue. Tiny glass beads in a cheery mint green with delicate copper flower bead caps finish off the design.

Flower Petal Earrings can be found in my Etsy shop here.

Digital Earring Cards

I found this very clever digital collage designer, CollageStudio45, quite by accident on Etsy. She sells her unique digital sheets formatted as earring cards. Brilliant! I have tried to make my own from pretty scrapbooking paper, but I have found that I didn't cut them right, or I printed them all wrong and the holes were not poked evenly. This looks like it would be even easier. There is no waiting for the mailman to deliver them either, as the pages will be sent to you automatically. Just print them on your color laser printer, or take them to your nearest copy shop to do it for you. Then cut apart and away you go!
{Don't you just love this idea? Punch the holes and score them to stand up on their own. Brilliant! Flower Earring Cards from CollageStudio45 on Etsy}

I was captivated by the pretty colors and I love that she even puts in some dots to show you where to punch the holes so that your earrings are hanging perfectly.

{Ooh la la! These French inspired designs would be tres chic with your earrings hanging on them, n'est ce pas?}
What I like is that you could stock up on a lot of her designs to suit the mood of your earrings, or match the colors of them as well. And because they are digital, you can add your own contact information to them. Check out these and other designs from the CollageStudio45 Etsy shop today!

Tomato Blossoms

Tomato Blossoms
The color of the red agate beads in these earrings reminds me of tomato soup! I love it with the gunmetal color of the nickel beadcaps and the pewter cubes. Handmade sterling silver earwires.

I'm picturing it with winter white (in case you wanted Cream of Tomato soup instead) and denim, with matching tomato boots! I think it has a Victorian flavor.

Sunburst Earrings

Taking it's inspiration from the sun and sand of the beach, these earrings pair together Czech glass sunbursts with handcrafted polymer clay beads, brass and copper and faceted pyrite stones.

I can't even tell you how much I want to run away to the beach today.  I'm rushing to get my work done and then I'm heading to the shore - it may only be for the sunset, but that's enough for me!

Seriously Rusticly Perfect!

After missing about a month due to illness, I thought I would come back with a bang while I can and give you some serious eye candy!
I am IN LOVE with these disc beads! I got a bunch because I pictured a series of earrings made from them and when I started making them, they turned out exactly how I pictured them!! That never happens to me.
I had a vision of beautiful lampwork glass beads mixed with these rustic discs all wrapped in solid copper and then patinaed for this perfect combination!
I hope you will stop by my Etsy shop and see all 8 pairs! I am planning on making many more of these if my energy permits this week. Wait until you see all the wonderful colours these will come in!!

Thanks for stopping by!

Grungeboard Earrings

Grungeboard is defined by Tim Holtz as a compressed, flexible sheet of dingy material with a debossed texture that can be painted, inked, sanded, hammered, die-cut or grunged. You can even wash ink off with water and start again!

I first tried this technique after reading about it in Margot Potter's book "Beyond the Bead" several years ago. She had a gorgeous example of using it with stamps and I knew I had to try it! All you need are stamps, alcohol ink, and a sealer. I also used my Sizzix to cut out some other shapes like these hearts.

The possibilities are endless and it really is a fun project.

You can find the Fleur de Lise earrings HERE and check out some of my other designs using grungeboard.

Thanks for looking,

Metal Ruffles

I have been having a blast experimenting lately with foldforming metal, after my sweet hubby gave me Charles Lewton-Brain's fabulous book Foldforming for our anniversary.   There is something so satisfying about taking a piece of raw metal and torturing it into submission!   These earrings started out as leaves, but I decided I would form them around my ring mandrel and make hoop earrings.  I think they turned out pretty well!

I envision wearing these with all kinds of outfits, but I always like copper with neutrals...and I would die for these Old Gringo cowboy boots!

Cotton Candy

These are some of the most beautiful Lampwork beads I've ever seen,
by Andrea Guarino-Slemmons
the name does not do them justice.
I've used some of my new Paisley Copper Headpins with them.

Desert Wildflower

Desert Wildflower
I love the classic Southwest color scheme of turquoise and tomato reds and oranges, with cool silver! I chose a pair of stones from one of my favorite strands--plump little roundels of red agate--for these earrings, and fashioned a pair of nickel beadcaps with a sun pattern. I antiqued them with Midas oxidizer for nickel, and tumbled and sealed them. I love the rustic look I get with antiqued nickel. I added petite turquoise heishi at the bottom to evoke that Southwest feel. Hand-forged sterling silver earwires and headpins.

Of course, you have to wear them with jeans. (I'm stuck on this Thelma and Louise thing.)

Night Blossoms

Nothing makes me happier than sitting in a garden, just to daydream.  A cool breeze is always appreciated.  I particular like to sit in my sister's garden at sunset.  Of course, she sees the weeds and gets right to work.  I like to get lost in the delicate flower petals, the sweet hues of the blooms and the fragrance that dances in the night air as darkness approaches.  I wish I could grow things, sadly I am a well-known plant killa'.  I can only rangle blooms of the beady kind.

I paired these lovely Hill Tribe copper blossoms with handcrafted polymer clay beads in a salmon color.  The beads have tiny leaves that swirl around them.  You can find these earrings in my new Etsy shop, Humblebeads Jewelry.

Blue Steel

This past weekend we were out of town for a traveling baseball tournament, minivan packed to the roof with gear. Also staying at the Holiday Inn Express in Onalaska, WI was the band known as Starship and .38 Special. There may or may not have been some pictures taken of the entire team with the lead singers (whom they had no idea about) and some 40-somethings reminiscing about their younger days as groupies. Seems everyone has a concert story or two. I have backstage passes signed by rock legends and a few pictures of my own exploits (Tommy Shaw of Styx has the softest cheeks ever. I know. I kissed them. ;-) and more than my share of guitar picks and even a drumstick given to me in a flirtatious backstage moment. A far cry from the minivan driving-baseball toting mom that I am today.

Blue Steel

But back in the day I would have had no problem rocking these earrings Blue Steel with this chic ensemble at Summerfest on the lakefront in Milwaukee. Now I can just dream of wearing this (but those shoes are still calling my name!). Wearing these make me feel like I'm 19 again even if the calendar disagrees.

And I still have a thing for drummers. ;-)

Dragonflies of Summer

Mixed metal dragonfly charms from my Melismatic Morsel line have been adorned with emerald green teardrop Swarovski beads.  Finished with hand-wrought sterling earwires, these lovely earrings will dance flirtily from your earlobes, just like the lacey dragonflies flying around in the summer sun!

note - the bluish tint on the metal is not patina...just a lighting thing that I couldn't correct!

ButtonButton

Happy Independence Day! I know you are probably expecting to see some red white and blue here today, but instead I am nodding to the past by using some beautiful vintage brass and carved mother of pearl buttons in my earrings.

I found these at the Bead & Button show,  at a great booth called Nifty Thrifty Dry Goods.  The buttons have a nice shank on the back and I wire wrapped them with some faceted Shell pearls.  I have never really seen buttons like these anywhere.
These earrings can be found for sale in my online webstore, Lorelei Eurto Jewelry.
